I just finished, this was my very first crochet project. I spent the day before learning basic crochet stitches (chain, single crochet, double crochet), the next day I started this video and 10 days later I finished! (I only did a little every day, I'm sure you could do it in one day if you spent more time on it) I was amazed at how quickly it came together. I ended up using only two skeins of 219 yard macrame cord, so a lot less than I thought I would need. Highly recommend for beginners!

Just finished this bag! I made it in a week (not constantly working on it but maybe an hour+ a day)
And DAMN THIS BAG IS HUGE. It can fit so many things and I can def see myself with it in like a flee/farmers market, with fruits and vegetables. Once I got the hang of the pattern, it was easy making the second strap! Great tutorial!

Read if you don’t understand where to place the second strap, I may have a solution !
For the second strap, I folded in half the bag so that the first strap is folded too on the left side. On the other side, from the final stitch that is visible, I calculated 9 stitches to the left and marked it, then i turn the bag while it’s folded, and I calculated 9 stitches to the right, I marked that stitch, and finally, I join my yarn to one stitch, and I do like the video (so the first row of the strap is supposed to go to the first marked stitch to the second, maybe one more stitch than the second but that doesn’t matter).
It works for my bag, hope you understand and hope it helps 🫶🏻

such a quick and easy bag to make! i finished it within half a day. i used a mercerized cotton yarn and it only took me a little less than 2 skeins, so ~275m. it's very stretchy and hold so much more than i thought it would! the pattern was pretty easy to follow, i just kept forgetting it's supposed to work up in a spiral 😂 also my stitch count was off for some reason in the 7th round but i just added extra stitches in last quarter to get it to 120, and it worked out fine. thank you for the pattern and the tutorial! 💗💗

@@glinnes456 if you’re planning to use it as a beach bag I would definitely recommend doing more increases at the base! I’ve tried to use it as one before but i could really only fit one towel and a few other smaller items, and the towel takes up pretty much all the space. if i were to make another one i’d probably at least do another 5-10 rounds of increases depending on how much i’m trying to fit in it. i’d also probably reinforce the strap by sewing some fabric on the underside so it doesn’t stretch too much from the weight.

I am new to crocheting. I have a question, and I hope it doesn’t sound dumb. Once you were done with rows 9-24, could you work backwards with those same instructions for rows 25 on and attach the base of the strap to the bag instead of working 2 separate straps? I only ask because for some reason I have such a hard time sometimes counting my stitches and I think it would be easier (for me) to count the rows and then work backwards to widen the strap again and just attach the base. I hope this all made since. Thanks for any input!

Make sure you’re adding a single row every round! For instance, when you’re making the circle, you add 2 rows in each hole in the previous round for round 2, and then the next round you do 1 row in a hole then 2 rows then 1 row, then after that it’s 1 row, 1 row, 2 rows, 1 row, 1 row, and so on. Also it helps to have a mark for the start of each row, I just use a safety pin like in the vid but a Bobby pin or something similar could work too!

wavy or curled projects and stitches usually mean the stitches are too tight, maybe try a bigger hook size or less tension ?

Hey, it happened to me too, and it shouldn't. We interpreted the instruction wrong when she said 10 times; its just one round. Don't do 10 rounds of dc 1 ch 1. Do one round and keep watching the video.

This bag turned out to be MASSIVE. I think I must’ve messed up and did too many stitches because it’s wayyy bigger than the measurements in the description. But it’s okay, I ended up taking some stitches out from the bag and the strap to make it shorter and it turned out cute :)
