- Denise sent over this vintage hand drill for some love. I gave it some love and it actually works again and looks pretty good too (well at least I think so hahaha) Thank you for sending the small drill over, I had a lot of fun making it pretty again.
Link to my socials and tools I use in the link below. linktr.ee/ajre...
AJ it looks like you started out with a fine example. Someone has shown it some love over the years .
Man AJ you are a consomate professional, your work is beyond reprach, love watching you sir. Keep it up!
Thank you very much! I appreciate the compliment!
Good job AJ, it looks fantastic!!
Thank you so much!
Hello AJ beautiful restoration well done
Thank you buddy!
Great restoration 👏👏
Many thanks!
mymechanics would have a field day with that manual drill lol
Nicely done AJ.
Haha I am glad you think so, thank you!
@@AJRestorationHow can I contact you for a restoration project?
The cracks are part of the history, it's not a brand new tool. But why didn't you put a little bit of grease on the moving parts?
Well D0ne!
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota AJ
Hello there buddy!
There should be another small toothed wheel (cog) the same as the one driving the chuck in the opening at the top of the frame. It keeps the large cog that you turn balanced. It's missing. That why it keeps jamming when you use it!
Makes sense why it kept jamming, thank you for letting me know!
What type of paint do you use?
@@nicolasescobal I used powder coating on this one.
Parabéns ! 👏👏👏
Essa restauração para mim foi emocionante, meu velho pai teve aqui no BRASIL uma ferramenta igual.
Repito, parabéns !

The cracks r visible , but great job 👏 still 😢😮
AJ, geographically, where are you located?
Before he replies, I am going to guess New Zealand. Lets see if I win internet points.....
I reckon South Africa @@ChuckKirchner-se6ib
I am located in Pretoria South Africa.
Haha almost! A lot of people would guess New Zealand, or Australia.
@@AJRestoration Do I get any internet points for being in a former British colony, like NZ?
I went to your site, but did not see the utra sonic cleaner listed.
Looks like Adendorff has it listed as MAC AFRIC Professional Ultrasonic Cleaner
I have to update that link site, I have not been there in a while.

⚠️ - what was that banging noise at the beginning of your video?
I live near a army training ground, they were training the rookies to shoot.
The way you re-created the missing tooth is illegal 😱
Hahahaha I know, I am planning on getting a brazing set for cast iron.

Папа почти как у нас
All those years of love and working just fine gone forever. Old tools tell stories with wear
Think about who used it probably had to save up to buy it might have made beautiful things with it.
Now it’s new big deal lots of things are new. Remember old tools tell stories listen to them. Please think of not doing this anymore
It wasn't functional as is, Ill do this as long as I live. I enjoy what I do. I leave certain wear/dents to keep some of the story of the tool, while making it functional and looking good.
You should restore a blow pipe and find that annoying ass bird.
Hahahaha His name is Frank, and he's my friend.
Oh shit my bad lol.. I thought it was a wild bird that was being picked up because of an open window haha
Or I thought it was a sound overlay lol
It's almost irresponsible to not fix the cracked handle if you're going to restore everything else with a crack as bad as that drill has. And no lubricant? Contrary to one of the other commenters, this is reproachable.
Used gasoline....
And thumbs down, again, for not protecting the viewers eyes while welding.
Hahahaha next time ill move the camera closer ;-)
It's called a Double Pinion. Yours is missing the second pinion!
Ooooh I get it now, makes sense.
Superb work, maestro. If anyone gripes about the cracked handle, you can also stabilize the crack with resin and that could restore it further. Awesome video.
I did think to use epoxy but I wasn't too sure if I should. Last time I used resin I got the ratios wrong and it almost caught fire. It was smoking like Snoop dog.
@@AJRestoration 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"used gasoline" In my car it passes through the exhaust valve as a gas
Le manche est fendu,il aurait fallu le changer ou réparer non?
I would have greased the gears a little, but other than that, nice job.
I did grease them after the video, I wanted to keep it clean for the video.
The top cog is missing!
Top cog?
Boring video! Hahaha! Kidding. Nice job done
Hahaha to some it might be hella boring, I remember some guys complaining I move too slow hahaha
@AJRestoration boormachine. For boring holes. Your videos are always interesting
Wait, how did you get the wood handle on the crank part to stay on?
I used a small Roll Pin like the one for the gear to keep the handle in place.
The crack could be "saved" by filling it with clear epoxy resin.
Good job, I give you a Like.
Thank you! Cheers! I did think to use epoxy but I wasn't too sure if I should.
Very nice restoration and gear repair. I'm curious why you didn't repair the broken flange on the ring gear near the handle?
The welding is a little too aggressive, it "eats" into the cast iron and it would ruin the surface. I kept it as is and repaired the tooth so it is functional again.
AJ you did it again, you're the man !!! Nobody can do it better !!!
Haha thank you, I appreciate the compliment!
Hey, its a load shedding drill 😂
Indeed it is hahaha.
Well done, fantastic restoration
Thank you so much!
was that flux core he used to replace that tooth
Haha yes, it was, and I know its the wrong type welding for cast iron. its all I had on hand to fix the tooth and It turned out pretty good.
@@AJRestoration turned out awesome. nice job!
Restaurada furadeira 😉
Personally I preferred the patina the wood had obtained through years of use.
Agreed, in addition to that I preferred the original two paint colors - should have left that paintwork on even though it was 'worn'; I've never been a fan of removing the original paint unless it's a real mess with rust coming through from the metal. These 'make it look like new' restorations always make the tools look TOO new to me - instead let the tool show it's age while still cleaning it up and making it fully functional.
Worst restoration, if it can be called that, I’ve ever seen! 🤦🏻♂️
