You are talking about a group of Asians… bypassing testing and balancing in exchange for algebra and complex mathematical equations… Does this really shock you??
Why Nin did that is easy. A drug dealer is going to modify his drugs more to hook his clients on coming back again so Nintendo needed to do those nasty stuff so the players stay hooked on trying to achieve that good feeling of having everything once they get it 🤣. Damn so now I know how that stupid star system works & nope I won't be trying it 🤣👍.
Super pro skills. Yoshi was just how I managed to get the gold cup when I was little. That and unlocking all of the extra tracks felt like enough to me, at the time. Hard game.
*@Roving Mauler* Well, I *_*almost*_* got 100% in _Mario Kart: Super Circuit._ I was only able to get a Triple Star or Double Star rank on the 50cc and 100cc Engine Class sizes; it was too hard for me to even get a Single Star rank on some of the Grand Prix cups (i.e. Special Cup) on the 150cc Engine Class size, if I remembered correctly here.
In order to balance the game's point system the heavy characters were given bonus points. When you take your first turn in mksc you notice it plays a lot different then other karting games in the series. If you drive off track you lose points, if you slow down before a sharp turn you lose points. And since turning your kart is harder w/ heavy it was reasoned to be given those points so that good play w/ hard characters was rewarded. Difficult task, big reward. On the matters of unlocking the retro cups in mksc one has to get 1st at the end of the cup (36p isn't needed). After that's done play once more for 100 coins at the end of the cup (you can place between 1st-4th). That's how its done. As for the point system itself I've studied it myself and gotten all triple stars in all the cc classes. Pick DK and Wario for the nitro cups. Then pick Mario and Luigi for the retro cups. That's the triple star grinding meta for this game as the open road nitro tracks of super circuit allows for less sharp turns plus the fact that the heavier characters are faster (as long as you don't lose speed). While the shrunken retro tracks require sharper turns and don't last so long for the aditional speed to make much of a difference on those short tracks. Mario Kart Super Circuit triple star rank system: 3 Star ranking requires 1st place in all races and 330 points. Plus points: 1. Character: Toad/Peach-10 // Yoshi-0 // Mario/Luigi-30 // Wario/DK-40 // Bowser-45 2. 9 race points ahead of CPU-15 // 8-3 race points-10 (you do this 4 times) 3. Coins. 1 coin = 1 point 4. Start/Laki turbo 6.25 points 5. Mini turbo 3.75 points 6. Useless Item box 3.75 points (you only get points if you didn't get an item) 7. Got hit by lightning 10 points 8. Race time (possible, and the game faq gets this wrong, the game calculates 60frames, not the 100 tens of miliseconds. I learned this myself when I played this game). Track value * 143 (weight class of 150cc) = time to beat. Final time save will be divided by 32 (1sec = 3 points). The only track values I know of: - Mushroom: track 1: 47, track 2: 53, track 3: 65, track 4: 50 - Extra Lightning: track 1: 52, track 2: 40, track 3: 26, track 4: 27 I've calculated the par time for this cup myself once, but the times have been lost in my notes. I do remember you get at least a couple of sec to spare. Just remember to use 60 and not 100 when you're calculating. Minus points: 1. Holding B for 1sec = 30 points 2. Not holding A for 1sec = 3.75 points 3. Off road 1sec = 3.75 points (check the wheels). Off road doesn't count in CI2 and MC2. However, the big mud pool in CI2 is still counted as off road. 4. Wall hit 5 points 5. Getting hit 3.75 points 6. Hitting other players with items 3.75 points 7. Stage hazard 3.75 points 8. Saved by Laki 7.5 points 9. Using items: Star-7.5 // Lightning-1.25 // 3 Red Shells-1.25 10. Reset course 30 points I played only as Toad so for me it was way harder to gather all those points and I wish I had this from day 1 as a kid. Great video RGT85 keep 'em video up. Let's make the best of this day! I hope I cleared up some confusion on the ranking system topic. Source: Rank Calculation Guide by FerneuMKSC on gameFAQ. And my own experience from hours upon hours in this game.
I will say that Wario was always my favorite character and I’ve used him a lot more than the others , even the gameboy advanced one, to which I played the heck out of. It still was very challenging to get three stars in spite of those unknown advantages.
Never played Mario Kart: Super Circuit but if it plays similarly to Super Mario Kart from the SNES then like you said I found the heavier characters harder to control, which as you alluded to could be the reason why this is a thing. Toad was always my favorite character in Super Mario Kart because of how he controlled.
if speed is a thing for completion they just realign all speed by giving points in an invertly proportional curve. Seems like the speed curve reverted to me the way they give points.
Super Circuit can definitely be rage inducing, but it comes with a level of mastery that brings a great feeling when you finally get an A ranking or the elusive 3 stars. If you want a similar GBA game with a huge challenge level and super satisfying to master, be sure to play F Zero Max Velocity. Btw, I think that points system was just to balance out the character weight and handling class.
I'm a big fan of circuit circuit and completed the game back on the GBA back in the day and this is the first I was aware of it. I always used Luigi for what it's worth..
What I love about Mario Kart: Super Circuit is that you can unlock all the SNES tracks. So you basically got 2 games in one. When you didn't have tons of games as a kid it was amazing.
Metroid Zero Mission did this too, upon beating the game under any condition you unlock the NES original. The standalone version that came out in the GBA NES Classics line always felt redundant to me because of this.
I just finished getting 3 stars on all the cups on all the different cc speeds just yesterday, using Toad. Though to be fair in my experience I’ve been playing it for years and as a kid it was one of the first games I bought myself. One summer all my games were stolen at summer camp, except one, and I ended up playing and mastering Mario Kart Super Circuit and how it plays. So I naturally found the ins and outs of the controls for the game. For those wondering, to get the title screen to change to an orange sunset, you need to get 1 ⭐️ (star) on all the Super Circuit cups in 50cc, 100cc and 150cc. To get the nighttime title screen, you have to get 3 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (stars) on all the Super Circuit cups in 50cc, 100cc and 150cc. Collect every coin you see on the ground in every race, don’t fall off the track or hit obstacles, and come in first on every race you do. On 150cc do all of that and learn how to master the drift technique, and then getting any number of stars becomes significantly easier.
I got this game for my 6th birthday back in 2002. I finally got around to getting 3 stars for the final cup just one year ago. Wario took over from Yoshi as my main in that game because of this. I've heard of the characters impacting the score, but I honestly thought it was +60 for Bowser and +50 for DK and Wario.
Heavyweight characters were much too hard for me to control in _Mario Kart: Super Circuit._ They had very poor handling, so I couldn't get First Place on racecourses with them - especially on 100cc or 150cc!
I’ve only heard Nathaniel Bandy talk about the star ranking system for this game. For those of you who don’t know how the star ranking system works, it’s based on how many skill points you have by the end of the cup. There are a ton of variables that cause an increase and decrease in the skill points. Here are the basics, the character you pick will award you certain amounts of skill points. Bowser: 45 DK and Wario: 40 Mario and Luigi: 30 Peach and Toad: 10 Yoshi: 0 This is based on how easy they are to control, so there’s some risk and reward factor here. It also depends on what cc you’re playing at. The higher the difficulty, the less skill points you’ll get. What happens in the race itself can drastically affect your rank. Here are the variables that earn you skill points: Collecting coins: +4 pts per coin Hitting item boxes when your slots are full: +15 pts per item box pass Hit by lightning: +40 Going fast as heck: depends These four variables are the only things you can use to get more skill points. And most of them are completely arbitrary, like why does it matter if I’m holding on to items or not? And it’s more cryptic than that, because not all items that are held count as being held. Triple green and triple red shells do not count as a held item because you’re technically not holding the item button. So it’s actually really bad when you get those two items. And then there’s the factor of getting hit by lighting. Getting hit by lightning is a rare occurrence in Super Circuit which is so unfair because you actually get a ton of skill points from something that happens at any random time. Now let’s talk about things that take away your skill points. Well I hope your ready because I have a long list of variables so here we go. Being off road: -.25 pts per frame Not accelerating: -.25 pts per frame Braking: -2 pts per frame Using triple red shells: -5 pts per frame Using lightning: -5 pts per frame Using Stars: -30 pts per frame Hitting enemies or items on the road: -15 pts per frame Spinning out: -15 pts per frame Bumping into walls: -20 pts per frame Using a rocket start: -25 pts per frame Lakitu Rescue: -25 pts per frame I kid you not, all of these variables can make you lose skill points. I mean heck, no wonder it’s so hard to get 3 stars. Let’s just go over some of these like not accelerating, using my brakes are you kidding me? Why should that matter at all? This is a racing game. Every race is different so naturally I’m gonna be forced to play every race slightly differently. And then there’s the matter of the items. Using lightning, stars, or triple red shells as a detriment is completely stupid because you have no control over what items you receive. I’ve gotten stars in 2nd place tons of times when playing Super Circuit. So what am I supposed to do about that? And then there’s hitting enemies or items on the road, spinning out, and Lakitu rescuing you. I think those factors are fine, although bumping into walls is so petty if you ask me, then there’s using a rocket start. That is so contradicting considering the game wants you to finish laps fast. How am I supposed to do that when I’m discouraged to use the rocket start? And what’s crazy is I have never seen anyone talk about how evil this system is other than Nathaniel Bandy. So I’m glad to be sharing it with everyone watching this video now. This list of variables misses out on one key factor that also makes a big difference. And that is drifting. Because yes you can drift in this game, but it’s incredibly awkward to do and takes a ton of practice to get used to. It’s similar to the other games where you have to jump and turn and then hold that pose for a bit to get a speed boost, but I do not have the skills to properly integrate it with my gameplay. It’s hard to master because everything feels so slippery. Drifting can be to sharp or too narrow which can cost skill points. And the computers do not help matters either. While they technically don’t rubber band, they are extremely aggressive and are still very difficult to deal with. So there you have it.
This sounds bad on the surface, but I think it is much easier in Mario Kart to win a race with a light character than a slow big character, so this might be a lazy way to balance out the rank system. I know from experience that it is very rare to pick big characters because they are slow to accelerate and it can rob you of a win if you get hit by an item close to the goal (i.e. you speed up much slower with the big characters giving other characters more time to pass you up). Giving some extra points based on weight seems like a way to counteract this.
Actually, the heavyweight characters are faster (with Bowser being the fastest of all) at top speed. They just take so long to accelerate and the steering is so horrible that it's hard to reach that top speed. The lightweights have lower top speeds, but they accelerate so quickly (Toad most of all) that it makes them too easy to use.
That makes sense, I would always choose Wario and I could tell he was a much more difficult character to play with compared to smaller and lighter characters. Heavier characters tend to have better top speed but horrible acceleration. If you drive outside the road, you noticeably lose speed. If you get hit by a shell, it takes forever to recover. Lighter characters on the other hand would get hit by a shell and immediately take off ! The only advantage you get with a heavier character is that you don't get pushed around and a slightly higher top speed. But the top speed does not even matter if you are constantly being bombarded by attacks.
without playing the game this is what I was assuming, that the heavy characters were harder to play so you got points based on that. doesn't seem like RGT was able to get that though and thinks its just random values assigned. lol
Cool, never knew about this. Reminds me of how in Gears of War if it's your first time playing online you'd be given more damage that slowly tapered off after some amount of kills, because if not they found that 90% of player when they weren't dominating like they were in the campaign would quit playing.
Oh man, thanks for letting us know this! Need to boot up that game now to try and get all those 3 star ranks! GBA Mario Kart was actually one of my fav in the series! Snes Mario Kart is still the all time best imo though! N64 one was actually my least fav probably due to the graphics and environments looking sparse due to early 3D in it's infancy (but still impressive seeing a 3D Mario Kart for the first time and gameplay is good, especially, with the introduction of 4 players split screen).
In the original Super Mario Kart all the CPU control characters had infinite power-ups meaning they could use the mushroom boost, super jump, and whatever original power-up they could throw at you for as long as they want.
I played through all of the tracks in super circuit on NSO minus the special cup as Yoshi only. I thought the reason I was getting a low rank was simply because the ranking system was extremely strict
Super Street Fighter II Turbo is probably what comes to the forefront of my mind when this is mentioned. Even emulating the arcade version on the lowest difficulty, it feels impossible to get to Akuma or defeat him with certain characters (like, 0-10 match ups). Even if I used something like save states, the AI behind the computer characters were so smart (my friends joked they're 'psychic') that almost no moves felt like they had a safe approach.
I knew there was a hidden points system, but didn't realise the character you picked was a factor. Later MKs do also have a similar hidden points system but are far more lenient with getting 3 stars (and MK8 simply just requires you to win all 4 races for 3 stars)
I have 3 stars in every cup now (well the base game), and I think Toad is the best character despite the low points. Going off road or hitting walls is worse. Something you will definitely do more with heavy characters. Toad has better control too letting you get coins easier. The only reason heavy weights get more points is to try to balance the fact they control terribly and you'll inevitably lose more points. Without this score bonus they would be completely unviable to get a high rank. If you play as Toad and just stay on the road and get most of the coins, you'll pretty much get 3 stars regardless. My advice to get 3 stars is to ignore this and focus solely on which character has the best controls. That's more important than these bonus points.
Hey RGT, be grateful you are relevant on the platform and you have a fan base that loves you and your content. You always have something worth looking forward too. Much love man
Also yeah, they give characters that have a much harder time getting the skill points a bonus because it's much easier to mess up as bowser compared to yoshi. Only makes sense.
Wait what? I like that Mario kart game! I used to play for hours with my friends. RGT you're delirious bro. Bowser is always my main on any Mario kart game. 😈
I can't prove it... but I would bet money that in Mario Kart 8, there is some kind of code in the game that makes green shells more likely to hit someone. They go in a straight line, sure, but once they bounce off of a wall, there is a high likelihood that they will bounce toward a racer (often that racer being yourself). There are many recordings of shells bouncing against what would be their directional momentum in order to hit a racer. Like I said, I can't prove this but I hope some day in the future someone a lot smarter than me will be able to dig into the code and confirm it.
I remember NFL Street doing the same thing years ago. If you got too big of a lead, the computer would literally cause you to almost fumble with every hit and make impossible plays that a regular person couldn’t.
*_WOW,_* you must have had excellent hand-eye coordination - because I couldn't do that back in the proverbial day, as mini-turbos/drifting was nearly impossible to do for me (notably on 150cc)!
Super Circuit was always the hardest Mario Kart for me. I do love this game though I have a lot of nostalgia for it. The first game and this one definitely have rubber banding like crazy. I didn't know about the character thing though, I wonder why they did that
I didn't know about this but I knew something shady was always going on with Mario Kart games for example, in the current MK8D, I waaaaaay ahead, all of the sudden I feel someone is behind me out of nowhere, and same thing with every Mario Kart game ever.
@RGT 85: I think you miss understand the character in Mario kart super ciruit, when it shows speed when you pick a character, it is not showing the top speed, it showing how long it take to make the drift boost work, a one star on speed mean it take longer for them to activated the drift boost, Bowser for example takes the longest time to make the drift boost work so that is why the skill point bonus is 45 for picking Bowser, while yoshi is 0 skill point bonus it shows speed 5 stars, since his drift boost work really quick, and can easily make-up the 45 bonus point missing by drift bosting a lot.
i remember in super mario kart, on hardest difficulty, when you were finally able to catch up to either cpu mario or cpu luigi, they'd just straight up trigger their star powerup
I remember the rubberband cheating in Double Dash was terrible in the 150 cc mode. It was so bad that I would intentionally take 2nd place in the first two tracks, because it was the only way I could stop the computer from ridiculously cheating in the last two races and get a gold overall
rubber banding doesn’t exist in mkdd the same way it did in 64 or circuit. I overlap computers frequently and this is something that can’t be said for the others…
Double dash was the worst Mario kart game in terms of actual racing. It was basically the smash bros of Mario karts you’re lucky if you can go 15 seconds without getting hit by something.
I used Luigi to triple star all the tracks back in the day, was challenging but not ridiculously hard. I thought Super Circuit was the best Mario Kart when it came out, so much content.
Twisted Metal series is a good one, the cpu has infinite specials and they use the secret weapons like freeze constantly, which for one requires a button combo and has an energy meter
I remember the first time I realized rubber banding was a thing. Need for Speed Underground 1 on the PlayStation 2. I'd crash the CPU car and get it stuck in the wall facing backwards. I'd make it halfway around the track and then you could see on the mini map the CPU's arrow trace to the player's at lightning speed.
Wow now all the time that I got first in that game and still unable to get the three star rank makes sense. I thought you had to be first in each lap to make the three star rank. Which does help, but had no idea about this point system. Great to know now after all these years. I did manage to get the three star rank but it was brutal.
Awesome Video RGT 85. Hehe this is amazing News, I didn't Play alot of Mario Kart: Super Circuit on the GBA, I Played more of Super Mario Kart on the SNES and Mario 64 on the N64 but this is some Next Level Trickery from Nintendo lol. I normally Play as Koppa Troopa or Toad in Mario Kart Games but poor Yoshi tho, he got a disadvantage right of the bat in Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
I honestly thought it was common knowledge the heavier characters had some type of advantage ever since the first game. Also explains why yoshi players are generally really good.
I remember being a young boy playing Mario kart 64 and definitely noticing that you get worse items the better you’re doing. If you’re in last you’re like guaranteed a Lightning bolt, star, 3 red shells. If you’re in first your guaranteed a banana.
The complaints we all used about the computer cheater were all true. We knew that it was not possible without going beyond the same limitations or odds as the player has.
Sega Genesis Evander Holyfield did the same thing. You knock down Holyfield twice in one round but when you go for the tko he becomes invincible. You can still win by points though.
I did not know the actual proper term, but I knew there was something up in Mario Kart 64. I could never shake Toad or Peach, no matter how well I did. I kind of played the gameboy advanced Mario Kart, but never took to it. I for sure knew about this in the newer games with all the blasted blue shells being shoot at you in Mario Kart 7 and 8. It is completely unfair, and makes the experience not fun. At least in Mario Kart 64, it was merely trying to ditch peach and toad. Mario Kart: Double Dash was even enjoyable. There was most certainly a need to learn the new mechanics. But even Double Dash was not as harsh and cheating as Mario Kart 7 and 8. I just got 8 for my birthday, and cannot really do the grand prix mode because the AI will not let me win. I have to do the mode where I limit the items to mushrooms, and the golden mushroom. Even in that mode, the AI rarely lets me have the golden mushroom, whilst all the other NPC racers can get the golden mushroom. The AI really needs to be turned down. I can see why the developers would do that for an arcade cabinet. But Mario Kart is not an arcade cabinet. They need to stop punishing the players for being good. I have kind of noticed this dynamic in pokemon also. If you try to level up your pokemon so that they are at an higher level, it seems that you are punished and that effective moves are not as effective as they should be, and the damage you actually do seems to be nerfed and not what your damage output should actually be [this is not to even mention how there are ways they added that make the opposing pokemon survive with one HP...balsted cheating AI...]
F-Zero was pretty bad too. No matter how far ahead you think you are, if you slow down to take a single turn you will find a racer immediately on your tail.
I played the heck out of this game when I had it on my GBA back when I was 14. No, I did not know about this. I used Princess, and I managed to triple star everything. I guess that means I was awesome.
I never heard or thought in my mind that it was rigged but then again it is a computer game to generate money.....your right rgt85....thanks for the info....my favorite character on Mario kart super circuit was toad and I always had a hard time with that 3 star cup .....I'm 40yrs old now and still difficult....lol:) I thought that the more lighter the character is.....the more faster you go?....I think all of fans of the Mario kart games thought that?.....right?
There's always some type of rubber banding in a LOT of games not particularly racing games. It's a way to make the ai challenging to the player without programming advance ai. Very sure shooters have rubberbanding. Games that get more difficult if the player plays better. I like and dislike this as gameplay mechanics depending on the game. Racing rubberbanding is the most annoying. Only shooter I can think of with rubberbanding is maybe Halo because of it's advance squad based ai and some random things they may do.
I main Yoshi in Super Circuit, and I got all 3* in the GP back then. I think that game's more tolerable than MK8 cuz item system is actually randomized. Friggin' MK8 decided to not give players in the front with offensive items. Now that's really aggravating. That's not how a randomizer works.
That After show was odd that Spawn kept questioning why you was selling your collection I understood OJ was just explaining her views of Physical over digital
So the Slower/Heavier characters get an advantage, or just get caught up to baseline line? I’d like to see this “complex equation” that determines “skill points”. Just sounds too hoaky pokey. Edit: After finding and skimming through the twitter post, I have determined that the tweeter has probably invested countless hours compiling the data on the post. I can’t confirm if the changes he recommends work, but he gives a way to re-code it at least.
I actually did know this as I've been playing Super Circuit for a very long time now trying to 100% it. I'm almost done. Oh, lightning also affects the skill points or whatever it's called. In a positive way. This is the only MK game where you want to get shocked... 🤷♂️
Like this vid if you didn't know about this. Like this vid if you did know about it. But I'll know you are lying.
Unrelated but to all the people that think retro game values just go up go look at the prices of Atari 2600 stuff.

College Slam had a player on St John's, that would DRAIN 3s to beat you in a upset........
I would try to do it to my friends too

5. Mini turbo 3.75 points
6. Useless Item box 3.75 points (you only get points if you didn't get an item)
7. Got hit by lightning 10 points
8. Race time (possible, and the game faq gets this wrong, the game calculates 60frames, not the 100 tens of miliseconds. I learned this myself when I played this game).

And the next video is a 55th Switch Pro rumour, it's coming out for sure this time! Where there's smoke, there's fire! 😄
@@MasterSystemMarceau For real.
He's "Nintuber" number 1
It's amazing how after all these years MVG is still confused about his nationality. You're a true friend, RGT, for sticking by him.
I'm a big fan of circuit circuit and completed the game back on the GBA back in the day and this is the first I was aware of it.
I always used Luigi for what it's worth..
Love the variety of videos recently. Mixing it up and giving us interesting retrospective content like this on a slower news day is a big W
Agreed
What I love about Mario Kart: Super Circuit is that you can unlock all the SNES tracks. So you basically got 2 games in one. When you didn't have tons of games as a kid it was amazing.
Bruh thank u! I didn’t know that. *goes to play game* 🍻
That whole era was like that. Animal crossing was actually like… 16 games in one because of the NES consoles.
I love that whenever i need the latest Nintendo news I can always count on RGT 85! My favorite Nintendo channel
RGT85 is the best Nintendo Switch TH-cam channel.
It's too bad he, he could be such a good VR channel
I got this game for my 6th birthday back in 2002. I finally got around to getting 3 stars for the final cup just one year ago. Wario took over from Yoshi as my main in that game because of this. I've heard of the characters impacting the score, but I honestly thought it was +60 for Bowser and +50 for DK and Wario.
Heavyweight characters were much too hard for me to control in _Mario Kart: Super Circuit._ They had very poor handling, so I couldn't get First Place on racecourses with them - especially on 100cc or 150cc!
@@StevenVillman I felt that way until I learned how to drift properly. It's not the same as in any other game, but it's really satisfying.
Bowser: 45
DK and Wario: 40
Mario and Luigi: 30
Peach and Toad: 10
Yoshi: 0
This is based on how easy they are to control, so there’s some risk and reward factor here. It also depends on what cc you’re playing at. The higher the difficulty, the less skill points you’ll get. What happens in the race itself can drastically affect your rank.
Here are the variables that earn you skill points:
Collecting coins: +4 pts per coin
Hitting item boxes when your slots are full: +15 pts per item box pass
Hit by lightning: +40
Going fast as heck: depends
These four variables are the only things you can use to get more skill points.
Being off road: -.25 pts per frame
Not accelerating: -.25 pts per frame
Braking: -2 pts per frame
Using triple red shells: -5 pts per frame
Using lightning: -5 pts per frame
Using Stars: -30 pts per frame
Hitting enemies or items on the road: -15 pts per frame
Spinning out: -15 pts per frame
Bumping into walls: -20 pts per frame
Using a rocket start: -25 pts per frame
Lakitu Rescue: -25 pts per frame
I kid you not, all of these variables can make you lose skill points.
Exactly. I don’t see why he’s complaining so hard about this. But, it’s RGT. That’s kind of what he does. Usually until his mouth gets dry.
without playing the game this is what I was assuming, that the heavy characters were harder to play so you got points based on that. doesn't seem like RGT was able to get that though and thinks its just random values assigned.
I did NOT know about that!
Love the Guile sonic booms and flash kicks that require no charging from the CPU, too.
In the original Super Mario Kart all the CPU control characters had infinite power-ups meaning they could use the mushroom boost, super jump, and whatever original power-up they could throw at you for as long as they want.
It’s got more than that. One time, Mario Kart: Super Circuit told me it was going out for cigs, and never came back.
I love this Nintendo channel.
Are you still stuck between the two pipes. And also I thought you had a Gameboy not gba. Unless another goomba kicked one over to you
Poor toad. Lol
Alternate title: certain characters are easier to play than others, so there is a balancing factor. Not exactly “dark secret.”
Great video, definitely got me thinking about many “cheap” moments in gaming history.
No wonder I had a hard time getting 3 stars in GP mode with the lighter characters.
I remember NFL Street doing the same thing years ago. If you got too big of a lead, the computer would literally cause you to almost fumble with every hit and make impossible plays that a regular person couldn’t.
Had the game on the GBA as a kid. I'm proud to say I got 3 stars in every championship (complete with new title screen) using only Yoshi.
*_WOW,_* you must have had excellent hand-eye coordination - because I couldn't do that back in the proverbial day, as mini-turbos/drifting was nearly impossible to do for me (notably on 150cc)!
MVG is an Aussie yo ! 🇦🇺😄
Love your work RGT 👍🇺🇲👍
I played this game A TON growing up. I remember my Dad getting it for me that summer. What a time to be alive!
This is kinda funny because I had no idea about this as a kid but this was also the only MK that I would either play as Bowser or Wario for GP
Most of the cast can get the 3 Star Rank with ease in the Super Circuit cups, the Extra Cups is where you need to be really good.
Super Circuit was always the hardest Mario Kart for me. I do love this game though I have a lot of nostalgia for it. The first game and this one definitely have rubber banding like crazy. I didn't know about the character thing though, I wonder why they did that
This game takes me back
Guile's flash kick without the CPUs need to even duck for a second.
I've gotten the dark opening screen twice with Luigi. Been playing the game for years and never knew this.
I didn't know about this but I knew something shady was always going on with Mario Kart games for example, in the current MK8D, I waaaaaay ahead, all of the sudden I feel someone is behind me out of nowhere, and same thing with every Mario Kart game ever.
Modern vintage gamer is an Aussie
Tell me you have nothing to talk about, without telling me you have nothing to talk about......
Top Nintendo channel of all time
I remember the first time I realized rubber banding was a thing.
This Nintendo Channel is amazing. Nintendo needs to hire you.
He secretly works for Nintendo but he wants us all to keep it under our hats and act like he don't😂😂😂
I honestly thought it was common knowledge the heavier characters had some type of advantage ever since the first game.
Also explains why yoshi players are generally really good.
My favorite family friendly Nintendo youtuber
I've never heard about this before today but I always suspected that the AI was cheating me out
I remember being a young boy playing Mario kart 64 and definitely noticing that you get worse items the better you’re doing. If you’re in last you’re like guaranteed a Lightning bolt, star, 3 red shells. If you’re in first your guaranteed a banana.
“Supper Mario Broth”
It’s Mike Tyson attempting to say Super Mario Bros. 😅
Cruising USA on the N64 eventually let you win the race, was something I noticed
I played the heck out of this game when I had it on my GBA back when I was 14. No, I did not know about this. I used Princess, and I managed to triple star everything. I guess that means I was awesome.
I had this game back in the early 2000s and I did not know this…
"Our British friend" (MVG) hahahahaha I'm sure he'll take that well
I always felt I was at a disadvantage when using certain characters in Mario Party...
Paying Nintendo to emulate chosen titles on a subscription service.
*Laughs in emulating literally on my Series S*
I never heard or thought in my mind that it was rigged but then again it is a computer game to generate money.....your right rgt85....thanks for the info....my favorite character on Mario kart super circuit was toad and I always had a hard time with that 3 star cup .....I'm 40yrs old now and still difficult....lol:) I thought that the more lighter the character is.....the more faster you go?....I think all of fans of the Mario kart games thought that?.....right?
Very interesting. Never heard of this. Thanks for making this video. Stay safe and warm.
That Twitter user is absolutely fantastic. If you don't follow him, you're missing out on so much fun.
Mvg British 🤣👏🏾 Mario kart GBA is one of my favourite MK games...once you get your eye in, you can have fun with it 🙏🏽
Cool topic, you should keep doing this gameplay\game design content
Knicks are going down tonight!
I never even THOUGHT about KI‘s cheating. Awesome vid! 👍
Can't even go a minute in without throwing shade at MVG.
Yoshi was my favorite on Super Circuit 😃Fun fact, I have the game on my 3DS cause of the Ambassador program
Great video! Like these topics on older games!
This is mind blowing never heard of anything like this
@OfficialRGT85924 where do I message?
No I have never heard of this. Thanks for the information rgt
I loved this game, my friend gave it to me in highschool, and I never let it go
This game was my whole childhood….😭
Bowser has always been the *best* character...low acceleration/Max Top Speed and heavy weight to knock players 💪 🏁 🏎
I was wondering why the rank seemed random. I am glad Mario Kart 8 has the ranking system set to needing to be first in all four races.
That's crazy. You have better luck with heavyweights?
Wow, I never knew about this! Crazy! I always played as Yoshi, never got 3 stars in every cup, now I know why. I gave up a looong time ago tho.
If the IA didn't know when to "cheat", there'd be no challenge in games like this!
Another astonishing Non Nintendo trivia from the Non Nintendo youtuber.
I actually did know this as I've been playing Super Circuit for a very long time now trying to 100% it. I'm almost done.
Oh, lightning also affects the skill points or whatever it's called. In a positive way. This is the only MK game where you want to get shocked... 🤷♂️
Rubber banding has been happening in Fifa since monetization
TLDW: the player's skill ranking is impacted by the character they select, some get bonus points, others don't
