He seems to remember quite a bit about that time. Even Jett Lucas's pizza recommendation. The people of that time in his life must have meant more to him than he normally lets on.
@@alex222333ful lmao i now have visions of someone watching this screaming at the TV "It's Tobias, not Thomas!" (or something similar) followed by colourful language.
Thomas was betrayed by his son whom usurped him and now makes lightsabers for Hollywood. The whole story is quite a tragedy. His kid didn’t know him and just got in to making lightsabers and met Thomas one day and ended up replacing him when Thomas revealed to him that he was his father.
Hayden remembering the name of a random crewmember on a film he worked on 17 years ago really should tell you everything you need to know about his character. Truly a prince among men.
It’s memorable because it was Hayden’s first big break in the industry and the role he played involved a lot of stunts. When he spent months with the same people working on the stunts and equipment you create lasting memories and friendships.
For me, Hayden is a perfect fit to play Darth Vader/Anakin because he has naturally a reserved attitude, a bit of underlying sadness and not a lot of facial mouvements when he speaks. Maybe this is what the criticism was about, but for me, he nailed it.
I agree. I always liked him as Anakin. It just made sense. I could see confusion, sadness and great potential from the character he played. I thought he nailed it
I think we could all excuse his performance at some point, but his lines are unsalvageable. Just plain horrible writing. If his lines were actually believable and better thought out his performance wouldn't have been a problem
I love how when Hayden says "Thomas" and Ewan's face lights up like hes right back in the moment. Respect for remembering his name as well. I'm sure there was a lot of crew on set and to remember someones name especially 20 years later shows how the actors respected everyone on the crew.
It's so wholesome that Hayden remembered Thomas and Ewan's face instantly lights up. It's a reminder that the actors and director(s) are only the most visible members of a production and the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes are the ones that make the production work.
Hayden's real-life voice & personality is like Anakin's voice & personality in the Clone Wars show. I wish he was allowed to act like that in the movies.
I still don't know how people hated so much the prequel ffs... Yes there were some cringe Worthy moments but for me still a great saga, and the acting of this guy for me is fenomenal he nailed the third movie... There is a small portion of the star wars fan base that is so annoying... They just dislike everything
@@mataloce the 3rd movie the only one that focuses on actual character development with a more solid story. The third movie was decent at best. Mediocre by majority. That being the only one that knows how to actually be a film doesn’t mean the other two were any good. Hayden shined in that last one cause 1, he’s a great actor. Multiple other films prove this and 2. It was actually a decent script, not great, not good, not the worst, but decent.
@@idosabamemanuel5163 I thought the script was perfect the story was perfectly made. If you watch the clone wars it puts a lot of things to place and explain a lot of why anakin goes to the dark side and everything.
As someone who works in film/live events: Hayden Christensen just earned a TON of respect from me. The fact he immediately could recall the name of a crew member from the production!
Hayden remembering the “lightsaber guy” , Thomas, is really sweet. Been such a long time it’s not often actors would even care to learn the names of people like that. Shows how sweet and thoughtful of others he really is.
Can we just note that Ewan McGregor is 52 years old and still looks 30? Not only visually, but also the way he moves and expresses himself is as dynamic as if he were in his mid-30s at the most. Fascinating
It is kind of fascinating. Good genes obviously, but also must take care of himself. I would guess that he either drinks/ smokes very little in his life or abstains from both completely
30, no way. I don't think you would buy him being the same age as, say, Liam Hemsworth or Margot Robbie. He certainly looks younger than his age though, and is of course very good-looking for any age.
Hayden even remembers the first time he went on a bike with him and the feeling. Damn you can tell how much this actually means to him. He even remembers the names of people who worked on set. What a legend
Hayden seems like just a dude you'd be friends with. I know he left Hollywood because of the hate, but I'm glad he knows he's loved and has returned. He looks like a regular guy just happy to be a part of things, so humble.
The fact that Hayden remembered the name of the guy who would bring them replacement lightsabers tells you 1) what a good and considerate guy he is 2) just how important star wars always was to him. We are extremely lucky to be getting more content from these two legends
couldnt agree more. At the end of the interview tho.. them saying how odd it was feeling like no time had passed since then, does it mean we gettin flashbacks? :o
I agree that we are lucky to get more content with them, unfortunately the scenes they perform are not decided/written by them. I hope the show is good when it comes out
Hayden is a proper class act, the fact that he remembered the guy (Thomas) who gave them replacement lightsabers after all these years, shows he clearly treats people on set with respect & that he isn't some actor that is full of himself.
Hayden has a lot of backstory’s of him on set with the cast and crew. He received so much backlash for the prequel movies and really didn’t get another chance to shine. He should’ve been given more chances but he decided to back off and bought a ranch. Dude was a good person. Much love to him
@@coreysmith2910 mate I like him a lot seems like a top guy, and he was a great character in the prequels I don’t care what anyone says. His dialogue with padme was terrible but it’s not like he wrote it.
The way that Hayden remembers the names of even the regular staff members…you can tell how much of an impact and how important to him those movies are. Love seeing him back where he belongs with his Star fam
I love that you mentioned this because as soon as he said “Thomas” I was like Awww what a guy and then bang your comment was right there to voice my inner sentiments lol. Gotta love that guy man so happy for him
I watched the prequels so much as a kid. It broke my heart how much they were hated by critics. It just does my inner child so much good seeing these films and actors get the recognition they deserve. I have so much respect for Ewan and Hayden and Natalie. They were amazing actors despite the rough dialogue and I’m so happy they have return with actually good material. Kenobi was perfect for me
I cannot believe how toxic the fanbase was to Hayden. He is beyond phenomenonal and one of the best we ever had in the Star Wars Universe. Thankful for him and his awesome character he made for us in my childhood. Ewan too! Give him tons of credit.
Yeah he really knocked that out of the park in those two movies. The dialogue was clunky, but that's George, and it's to be expected. His emoting was really spectacular for capturing the turmoil of Anakin.
Star Wars fans are just toxic period in general. Like Boyega being bullied. I mean Cameron Monahan was bullied online because some toxic fans didn't like that a redhead became a Jedi.
1:29 The expression on Ewan's face when he recalls the name, and then Hayden's smile. These guys weren't just brothers in the movie. You can tell they have so many memories.
This was healing for my soul. I want to see more of Ewan and Hayden just hanging out and being friends. There is so much love and joy in their eyes just to be together. They have the relationship that Anakin and Obi-Wan never could.
These actors are on another level as nice people: The fact that Hayden Christensen can remember the name 'Thomas' of someone who he worked with over 18 years ago who only made light sabers is so PURE!
1:26 there is something beautiful about Ewan's bright eyes and smile while he says "Thomas, thats right." it just lets you know how fondly he remembers those days.
I definitely agree. The writing for much of his character was just plain bad at times, and that’s not his fault. I personally feel like he did the best he could.
@@snowi8650 The times where Hayden wasn't saying anything or much were some of his best performances. His reaction to padme being pregnant, him waiting in the jedi counsel chambers, his silent indiscriminate killing of the separatists, him attempting to tell yoda his feeling and getting snubbed, his rivalry with windu, the entire mustafar fight. The times when he needed to express emotion, it shows that he has been holding it back and doesn't know how to control his feelings when they are finally too much to hold in
Really happy to see Hayden back and feeling positive about Star Wars. Can’t imagine it was easy for him all those years ago with some of the ridicule that was aimed at him
@@mistaschaub3280 yeah back during episode 2 and 3, quite a few of the fanbase specifically targeted him because of the lines he had to read for those films, after revenge of the sith, the hate from the fanbase got so bad for him, he basically for a time quit Hollywood and the large fame, did smaller roles and bought a farm and went off the grid for a time.
The fact Hayden came up with the name of the lightsaber guy from 20 years ago, calling it immediately without the conversation even needing that info in the first regard, but Hayden still took decision to say it! Even Ewan was surprised. And then the fact how Hayden reacts when Ewan talks of the audience voice not being loud back then and barely adds anything to the convo and just lets Ewan keep speaking, not arguing with him, but also not agreeing. Jeez, you can feel it was not a happy time for him. And then the last fact, but maybe the most important one, Hayden was the sole reason I got into Star Wars at all (which original trilogy failed to do). I just saw Anakin and Padme in that beautiful waterfall scene accidentally on TV and thought "whoa, that looks too beautiful to be missed". If not that love story shaped with the so romantical environment, I would have missed so much fun and epic of the Star Wars universe.
You can tell just from this interview that Hayden Christensen really loved being in Star Wars. He remembers every detail from 18 years ago, right down to the name of the person who made the lightsabers that they used. I'm very happy for him to get a second chance at this.
I think he made it superb on his first chance, episode 3 is perfection. But if you meaning to enjoy it fully - then yes. Hopefully the script is good in this one
Every time I see Ewan talk about how bad reaction was to the prequels, you can see how much it hurts him. For those of us who saw the prequels as kids, I’m sure he’s over the moon with all the excitement for the Obi-Wan show!
To be honest I understand why adults wouldn't like the first 2 but anyone who doesn't like return of the sith I do not trust there judgement of star wars lore.
@@cngotham4111 Do you honestly think episode 1 was mostly made for children? Serious question. There were a lot of galactic politics that I'm sure flew over most children's heads in 1999. And the pacing is a bit more mature too.

ladies, gentlemen, we were blessed to the point of having Lord Vader himself, and the legendary Obi Wan Kenobi, general of the grand army of the republic, sit at a table, chilling and talking the in and outs of the force. what time to be alive.
These two were my childhood idols. As much as there was criticism thrown at the prequels, me as the 10 year old boy that I was back then, didn't know any of it and was just glued to the screen the entirety of the movies. I remember watching them from my parents' old tube TV and while the quality wasn't anything compared to modern day television, I thought the prequels were the coolest shit ever, better than the originals even. Even to this day, I still love those movies, and while there are things that could have been done better in some instances, those flaws take none of my enjoyment away and I still consider them to be the thing that made me passionate about Star Wars.
It's not just about remembering Thomas' name, he also remembered perfectly his first bike ride with Ewan. The smile he has on his face while remembering those days says it all. He was the luckiest Star Wars fan living the dream, playing THE role in the saga. If he remains so humble now you can only imagine how kind and wholesome he must have been as a young man on those sets. Makes me feel sad for all the hate he got. At least now the fans are giving him the love he has always deserved.
@@yeemyreamy5895 it's crazy because as a kid I literally only liked the prequels... I didn't like 4 5 or 6 really till I reached like 20 years old. The prequels are still my fav

It just seemed a little weird that she would fall in love with a man that she knew when he was a child. They should have hired actors that were only 5 years apart like they were supposed to be according to the lore, but the age gap between the two actors made it seem like a much larger and much more questionable age difference. But even if they got the age thing correct there was still the poorly written script. The love scenes were so damn cringe worthy it was almost unbearable.

The way Ewan lit up when Hayden said “Thomas”… it’s like them 2 talking about childhood memories as they’ve grown up now… This series just can’t fail, it can’t ❤️
I grew up watching IV-VI as a kid, but I was a young adult when I-III came out, and I remember being in the theater with my mom for each one and us going home talking about each movie every time. Hadyden and Ewan were incredible in every one of them. I've since read many of the books and watched so much - I can't get enough of Hayden Christensen, he is forever Vader for me.
Hayden remembering the name Thomas is honestly so incredibly wholesome. He truly cares about the people he works with and remembers them. He deserves all the love he's getting and deserved none of the hate he received.
@@raymond9673 Well, he clearly remembered him. Which means he either cares, or he memorised names of people before the interview to look like he cared. I find the latter unlikely, leaving the option that he cares the most likely one.
1:28 - So I've seen Ewan tell this story a bunch of times, referring to the "guy with the cart." When Hayden finally filled in the gap of the guys name, you can see the genuine joy on Ewans face. It's like these two complete each other. Small , but very noticeable for me
The thing that astounds me is that it's been nearly 20 years and Hayden still, without missing a beat, immediately remembers "the guy with the cart"'s name. That man is a goddamn gem.
I was that age when the original Star Wars came out, so that's how I feel about the original three; however, I was a fully formed adult when the prequels came out and was horribly disappointed by them. Still am.
Eh idk what "wholesome" means (wholesomao?), but it was definitely a slight bit hackfraudy - Ewan has criticized/badmouthed the first 2 episodes at the time and every now and then, and now he's saying all these positive things and "the target audience liked it, critics put out a hit on it but now the fans caught up, they were meant to be different" etc. etc. because he's in promotion mode, for the new thing that's coming out; or just creative enthusiasm, also possible; a more clear-minded, self-reflective "here'S why I disliked them at these and those points, but here's the other side of my brain", or whatever, would've been more interesting, but this way it's just kinda feelgood fluff and not much more imo.
@@Cyrus_11215 I think people hated the way his character was written more than his acting job. Seemed like he did the best with what he had, and he did a lot better in movies with strong stories.

Hayden Christiansen is legitimately one of the most underrated movie actors ever. He doesn’t get enough credit for making the hectic character of Anakin actually feel real throughout episodes two and three. It’s actually crazy cuz I genuinely believe Hayden Christenson is a bigger fan about his work and Star Wars than Ewan is. He keeps saying these subtle bits of info still ingrained in his brain, and all these small details from the movies consistently where real fans bring up only every now and then. @@docsavage8640 Funny how that applies not only to the prequels (can't ignore the problems that they had in dialogue and overuse of cgi) but to Kenobi as well. Just sad that Kenobi also lacks the scale and grandeur that you expect from Star Wars, has terrible music and the story makes no sense. While many moaned about boring politics in the prequels, at least that story in itself made some sense. And that let's face it, Kenobi is mainly the selling point for the audience and not the driving force or focus of the story as much as he should be. Was smiling and enjoying this video and the enthusiams and joy that you could feel. If only that was still a factor in making Star Wars content. But apparently Disney can't afford good writers for their shows or movies, since most of it is pretty bad. And what makes it worse if you see glimpses of potential and what could be compelling stories/projects that they just wasted. But I'm criticizing Star Wars/Disney content so obviously I must be racist and/or sexist. We're almost at that point right. Since criticizing a female or person of colors character in any manner is now considered to be racist/sexist even when you simply think that a character is badly written. Can't be too much longer until you're not allowed to criticize Disney content at all, without being mislabeled.

@@jadro00 I think the consensus is that Ewan was always liked, he really did a fantastic job. Which is a testament to why he's coming back with his own show now.
The prequels were appreciated by the younger generation but not because of what Lucas intended, the dialogue was badly written for an adult, but it resonated PERFECTLY with the generation of the 2000s. Angstry teenager without a dad, had trauma, couln't communicate as well so his relationship was always dramatic like that. I saw Roger Erbert write in his review of Attack of the Clones that Lucas didn't know how to write romance, but I think inadvertedly Lucas wrote a very realistic early 2000s romance, it felt to me for example exactly what a grunge front man's love life would be like in private. I don't think it was intended, but it resonated to me way more than the goodie two shoes luke did in the OT, and I watched both at the same time. The problem with the sequels is that it is neither of those, it is plain and simple just a mary sue with no lines even if cringey that you can remember, felt like it was written by AI
Plus I think even with the bad cgi of episode 2, the intended result was still there and it felt badass, such as the clones marching with the imperial theme
But the dialogue being bad or cheesy is in line with what the originals had too. "But I was going to the Tosche station to pick up some power converters!" or: Leia: Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper? Luke: Ah?! Oh the uniform. I'm Luke Skywalker and I'm here to rescue you. C'mon. Star Wars was always cheesy and that's the charm of it.
@@Christian-rb8wk I fully agree, people meme on Jar Jar but we also had Ewoks which I actually find more intolerable. I'm of the oppinion that if the prequal trilogy and the OG trilogy released exactly as they are now but in reverse (so 1-3 in the 80's and 4-6 in the 90's - 00's) we would be looking at both trilogies very differently.
@@theguy8412 even then, i wouldn't call the CGI "bad"; it was pretty normal for the early 2000's to have CGI of that quality. Nowadays it just feels like it's "star warsy", like it feels like it's supposed to look that way for Star Wars
Hearing that Hayden received hate really shocks me. I was a kid when the prequels came out and Anakin was my first crush. I remember crying rivers for hours after the 3rd film. He was a huge part of my childhood. I loved the prequels and still do.
Because it’s the fanbase, literally every fanbase will just come together (in their own fanbase) to hate the ever loving sh*t out of the people that taint their treasured characters, really sucks and it’s sad humanity will never change, even when constantly being tried to change. Wyatt Russel as US Agent as a example for how they get together, me personally never being one of them as it’s freaking Wyatt Russel, and always knew I was gonna hate his CHARACTER the second I saw and heard him, but was going to love Wyatts portrayal
Hayden is such a nice quiet guy. It's always the quiet ones who play these really intense villains. He was perfect as Anakin. Brooding, petulant, overly confident, fearful but also obedient (sometimes) adventurous, and fun-loving. He brought all that back and more to the Kenobi series. So glad they decided to come back. What a gift!
Wow, are you being kind. It was one worst performances in movie history. Not entirely his fault and I am glad to see him back and getting a chance to redeem himself. I would like Ahmed Best to get another shot with Jar Jar.
"They were appreciated at the time by the generation we made them for." Ewan McGregor is completely correct with this assessment. I was 7 when the prequels came out. I don't remember caring about whether the movies were true to the originals or not. I remember my Dad making popcorn before movie night and getting excited for the pod races (one of our favorite scenes) as we re-watched the trilogy for the 10th time. I remember thinking the Darth Maul fight was the coolest thing I'd ever seen (and is honestly still one of the best Star Wars lightsaber fights to date).
Yes. The older generation Star Wars fans where much less progressive I assume, so the different style of film that mixed more modern techniques with older forms of writing just something they didn’t like. Understandable, but at the same time, and hate was an warranted. Writers sometimes try new things to see what sticks, so when they get hate about it, they either improve it or try a different idea. It’s trial and error, but when the spitefulness outweighs the constructiveness, it can bring someone down very much, which I believe is what caused George Lucas to sell Star Wars and all its properties.
@@TeenWithACarrotIDK I think the bigger problem was that George Lucas was always a visual genius and visual trailblazer. He also had a great story. But he was not a great director or script writer. The older generation had rose colored glasses when they remembered the original trilogy (for its visuals) and forgot how bad the dialogue and directing (and thus acting) was. When they watched the prequel trilogy, they saw the bad acting (due to bad dialogue and directing) and hated it, even though that's what the first Star Wars had been. Of the first 6 movies, Empire Strikes Back was the only one where George Lucas wasn't a director or screenplay writer..
That's what people forget about star wars. at the end of the day they aren't made for adults they are made for kids. I hate the new trilogy but hey they aren't made for me so people need to chill out on criticizing and not act like how adults acted when the prequels came out for my generation growing up. Give it 15 years and they'll be defending the sequals too.

Hayden's performance has been criticized, but i cannot see anyone else as Anakin/Darth Vader, as i cannot see anyone else but Ewan as young Obi-Wan and Alec Guiness as old Obi-Wan. They were born to play these characters.
Ewan is OUR Obi-Wan & Hayden is OUR Anakin/Vader. Simple. They are absolutely adored by the people who the prequels were made for. Born in 91 I remember the hype and being obsessed with Star Wars. This is pure nostalgia for me.
@@liamk1610 And was given much more room in the script and story to be a character and not just an ultimate villain. Prequels are where we get literally all of Anakin/Vader's story beyond allusions to past events. Original trilogy was Luke's story. Prequels were largely Anakin's story. Vader is Anakin.
The cutest thing about this is you can almost see Hayden feeling “it’s okay to love what we did and be happy with how awesome of an experience it was” in real time. I have to imagine it was a dream for him to work on those movies, but I’m sure all the criticism got him down to a point. It’s so good to see him smiling and remembering with such good energy. I’m so happy for the both of them. They seem so genuine and good. Protect them at all costs.
I think I got a new perspective on the prequels when my children have grown old enough to see SW movies. I am a fan of the 4th episode, but my sons prefer the prequels, Grievous especially :-) As both actors implied, I was not the target audience of the prequels it seems :-)
His voice was so much higher-pitched during RotS, but now Hayden's voice sounds like a perfect blend of live-action Anakin's speech pattern and animated Anakin's deeper voice
I'm so happy Hayden didn't hold it against the franchise how he was treated in the past. It's amazing to see him here and excited for the franchise. I always enjoyed the prequels since they came out while I was a teenager and never understood the hate. The fight scenes in them were iconic
I agree. Although I found some of the story a little boring, the prequels were mostly good, and I always realized since I was 10 that the acting was easily the best part of the prequels, and saying that the prequels were actually pretty good, saying the acting was the best part really shows that their acting was super good.
Well he is obligated not to shoot againt them, I think he knows that some of the dialoge and storytelling in the prequels were off. But it was heartwarming to see him as a successful and happy guy with his pal Ewan
Its so sad how much hate Hayden got for the prequels (largely because of poor dialogue writing). Especially seeing how genuine a guy he is from these recent promo vids. Remembering film crew names after 18 years is a classy move. Leaving Hollywood after playing a dream role speaks to how tough it must've been. All respect to this guy, I hope he makes a come back and gets the appreciation he deserves. May the force be with you
_Largely_ because of poor dialogue writing, but also because of his stiff and robotic acting, and the fact that his character was a whiny douche instead of a compelling precursor to Darth Vader.
It's all heartbreaking. Reading about the actor of Jar Jar Binks, who almost committed suicide because of all the hatred, and especially Jake Lloyd (young Anakin) who was an actual child and had essentially his whole life ruined by the bullying... and the fans have learned nothing, the actors in the sequels once again were victims of their targeted harrassement campaigns, for the horrible crime of... starring in a movie those fans didn't like very much I guess. It's so cruel and pathetic.
@jesse_cole He did the voice because he studied how vader spoke in the ot, and he tried to replicate it without the robotic voice. However, it didn't work that well.
Prequels were my youth and although I started my adventure with this universe with the old trilogy, parts 1, 2 and 3 were close to my heart. I watched them thousands of times on VHS and couldn't understand why people hated them so much. When I see Hyden on screen, especially in these new productions, I feel like I'm meeting an old friend after many years, I feel warm in my heart and i'm probably moved - this is my Anakin. It's good that after so many years, Hyden can feel appreciated by the fans.
I grew up with the prequels. They will always have a special place in my heart. The story told in episode 1 to 3 is what makes episode 4 to 6 so tragic.
When I was only 4 years old my dad sat me dad and put star wars on. This was in 1992. I was hooked. The moment star wars popped on screen I was hooked. But when 1 2 and 3 came out I had to watch them so many times. The prequels get a lot of flak which I'll never understand
It's a shame and sad how some of the actors involved with the prequels got "treated" kind of badly and probably still carry that with them. Hayden Christensen, Ahmed Best, Jake Lloyd... They were just actors, and really young at that, who had no responsability regarding the quality of the movies and it's story.
In retrospect people have grown to appreciate the prequels and namely Haden's acting. Now people actually have had time to think of what growing up in the Jedi temple was like being told to basically not have outward emotions.
I’m glad to see that Hayden is getting the love and recognition he deserves after the years of hate for the prequels. It’s so nice and refreshing to have him back. And he clearly loves the fanbase. He seems like a really genuine guy. I’d love to meet him at a con one day.
@@mattjindrak they were directed horribly. The character work was shoddy. But with the clone wars as backing, rebels as reinforcement, I can really appreciate the characters and story.

I love how humble and how much of a true fan Hayden seems. The whole new show (even this video lol) is literally named after the man/role sitting opposite the table from him, while he portrays one of the biggest, most iconic villains of all time. Yet he remembers the little sentimental details like Thomas the lightsaber guy or the bike story in London. As he said, 17-18 years since he had last worn the suit, yet these are some of the little things that stuck with him over the time. No one can touch Ewan McGregor as younger Obi-Wan, but hats off to Christensen for really being a trooper. As a 22-year-old who has seen everything cinematically (movies and recent Disney + series') from Star Wars, Anakin has remained my favorite character, it's such a pleasure getting to relive a great part of my childhood with the same people who were around for me back then. So many nostalgic chills hit my arms while watching the new series. Genuinely felt like we got a lot of the things we'd wanted since Revenge of the Sith.
The poorly-written scripts of the prequels wrecked Hayden's reputation as an actor (which had actually been very good before). It's no wonder he's clinging to the franchise for dear life because it has comprehensively destroyed any career prospects he might otherwise have enjoyed.
@@ald7248 which is extremely sad that its almost his only option to get back in the sphere. theres alot of actors who have had so much public humiliation its near impossible to move on and it ends up destroying their lives (drugs and such). im glad that hayden has been able to get past it and although it looks like he obviously has bad memories, he is able to be happy (hopefully). i just wish that all the people who basically tormented him for things that he couldnt help were the ones telling him to his face that theyre sorry. most of it wasnt him, its the directors and editors. he acts the part but they choose how to portray him. im glad to see him back!
@@poopypuppy9412 the people who tormented him did not know what they were talking about, I been to acting school, Hayden would have had to be an acting genius to pull off a good performance with what he was given at that age and exp level, nevermind just the script, George literally just told him to just trust his instincts, imagine standing in a big empty room with bright green walls and lights shining in your face in every direction n youve got this old egoistic nerd telling you "pretend your here and your doing this: it's so easy" It's not man, Lucas shoulda had someone with people skills directing the actors for him. It's not like Hayden was Ewan and had his experience working with Irvine Welsh that he could draw on, he was newish at it, doing all this newer green screen pretendy time stuff, truly he was asked too much and given too little help. Am sure there were people around him who understood that and helped him get through the negative stuff. It helps that despite their flaws the films were still loved by a LOT of people, so hes probably gotten more positivity thrown his way from fans than you'd expect. A little gratitude can go a long way.
@@tilasole3252 Why would you blame Hayden for something that was not only written for him, that a character does, and was always going to happen since the first star wars? Lmao
I love that Hayden was willing to come back and give this franchise another chance, and it doubly makes me feel good that the fans are showing him the respect and adoration he rightfully deserves right by Ewan's side as the dual faces of this franchise.
I like Hayden to an all I ever wanted was for him to be Anakin Skywalker again for the sequel trilogy’s cause main role we should’ve been redeeming Kylo back to Ben . But never happen because all they did was silence the truth and make them figure it out himself. I wish they would do a new Star Wars sequel trilogy but this time I want a new Skywalker/solo someone who’s not interested in vader but rather anakin Someone who can I be a girl because I need a man to do the honor.
I rewatched randomly the one scene of the revenge of the sith where the scared little kids felt the instant relieve seeing Anakin supposedly coming to their rescue but than quickly realize that their hero, idol and mentor is about to kill them... as a kid i did not think much about it back then. But man as an adult it hit me so many levels. I even got the chills now thinking about it. Not enough beeing killed. Killed by the one you admire and respect like a father figure.... jeeeeez
Awww, I always forget watching Anakin in RotS is a bit of a downer. Maybe people mistakenly found it easy to criticize the character for that? We knew the worst was inevitable and it was great.
All respect to Hayden, he seems like a great guy. I never disliked the prequel, even though there are certainly parts i don't like, as with everything. It's just something heart warming about seeing old friends come together again.
The prequels where great i like things in those more than the original and vice versa. I just dont get why people hate the phantom menace it was great. Attack on the clones is probably my least favorite. But revenge of the sith is probably the best
Always thought the story of the prequels was amazing. If you put the story on paper and read it, it was great. It just wasn't executed that well in the movies.
Man you can really tell how Star Wars is so important for Hayden. Remembering all those little details like the guy’s name with lightsabers and George’s son recommending him a pizza. I feel so bad that back then he received so much hate when he just tried his best for the franchise as a fan and as an actor. At least he’s receiving the love he deserves now. Love those two and seeing them together again is surreal.
Hayden has matured both mentally and physically and he seems genuinely happy and I am happy for him. I've missed seeing him in the Star Wars universe. I appreciated his portrayal as Anakin.
And the way they’ve put that duel on Mustafar together is godlike. That duel is what Star Wars is. Also is the biggest evidence why episode 7,8,9 is bullshit.
He really was bad, and i am not a fan. If it was Lucas’ decision for him to act like this or it was Hayden himself. You can’t compare his acting to McGregor. Sorry it’s a fact and one stupid interview not gonna change two long movies…

Hayden remembering the name of a random crewmember on a film he worked on 17 years ago really should tell you everything you need to know about his character. Truly a prince among men.

That's reading a bit too much into it I think lol
It's been 17 years since Revenge of the Sith, it took him no time at all to remember his name, at the very least it is incredibly wholesome.

I looked for this type of comment 💀💀
@@raymond9673 Well, he clearly remembered him. Which means he either cares, or he memorised names of people before the interview to look like he cared. I find the latter unlikely, leaving the option that he cares the most likely one.
1:28 - So I've seen Ewan tell this story a bunch of times, referring to the "guy with the cart." When Hayden finally filled in the gap of the guys name, you can see the genuine joy on Ewans face. It's like these two complete each other. Small , but very noticeable for me

I came to the comments hoping to find this one 🙏
The way his eyes light up 😭
The thing that astounds me is that it's been nearly 20 years and Hayden still, without missing a beat, immediately remembers "the guy with the cart"'s name. That man is a goddamn gem.
And it's lovely that Hayden remembered the crewmember's name.
So much love for these guys, I was 12 when they last played their roles, I'm now 28...
I was that age when the original Star Wars came out, so that's how I feel about the original three; however, I was a fully formed adult when the prequels came out and was horribly disappointed by them. Still am.

The prequels made my childhood. Also I'm very glad Hayden is finally getting his roses.
This was the most wholesome interview I've ever seen
Hello there
Yes
Wholesome?
Half way through I realized I had a major dorky smile plastered across my face hahah could not love this interview more!
Eh idk what "wholesome" means (wholesomao?), but it was definitely a slight bit hackfraudy - Ewan has criticized/badmouthed the first 2 episodes at the time and every now and then, and now he's saying all these positive things and "the target audience liked it, critics put out a hit on it but now the fans caught up, they were meant to be different" etc. etc. because he's in promotion mode, for the new thing that's coming out;
or just creative enthusiasm, also possible;
a more clear-minded, self-reflective "here'S why I disliked them at these and those points, but here's the other side of my brain", or whatever, would've been more interesting, but this way it's just kinda feelgood fluff and not much more imo.
So happy for Hayden. He deserved so much better than how the fandom treated him.

This makes me so happy seeing Hayden still passionate about Star Wars despite the backlash he received back in the day. Glad they are both back!!

That was episode 3. Episode 3 was good. Even us OG trilogy boys acknowledge episode 3 was good.@@theguy8412
But the dialogue being bad or cheesy is in line with what the originals had too. "But I was going to the Tosche station to pick up some power converters!" or:
Leia: Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?

I remember thinking the Darth Maul fight was the coolest thing I'd ever seen (and is honestly still one of the best Star Wars lightsaber fights to date).
that reminds me, i ought to rewatch the pod race again, the chills i get from Sebulba's pod getting so close to little Anakin's. priceless.
A little gratitude can go a long way.
Hayden and Ewan's real life relationship is what Anakin and Obi-Wan's would've been had Anakin not turned
Omg 🥲🥲🥲
I blame Hayden for that.
@@tilasole3252 it’s just a fictional story why you blaming him 😂🤦♂️
@@tilasole3252 Why would you blame Hayden for something that was not only written for him, that a character does, and was always going to happen since the first star wars? Lmao
It's palpatines fault
When they talk about coming back to play with each other. It's like these two finally met in the force and can reminisce together. ❤
I love how genuinely happy Hayden is to be back. And how happy the fans are to have him back. He is and forever will be the Chosen One.
You’re not kidding. So many memories man.
Always and forever.
He was the chosen one! He would destroy the sith but he instead joined them.
@@DeathLore and end emperor in the very end
Me too
I love that Hayden was willing to come back and give this franchise another chance, and it doubly makes me feel good that the fans are showing him the respect and adoration he rightfully deserves right by Ewan's side as the dual faces of this franchise.
Too body disney isnt giving the franchise any respect
I like Hayden to an all I ever wanted was for him to be Anakin Skywalker again for the sequel trilogy’s cause main role we should’ve been redeeming Kylo back to Ben . But never happen because all they did was silence the truth and make them figure it out himself. I wish they would do a new Star Wars sequel trilogy but this time I want a new Skywalker/solo someone who’s not interested in vader but rather anakin Someone who can I be a girl because I need a man to do the honor.
Is no one talking about how Ewan literally said “I had true fear seeing you as Vader!?!?!?”
I am SO EXCITED FOR THIS!
I was bracing for a spoiler but i just couldnt stop listening
He just said that to make you wanna watch it
Thats not brand news
@@JJ-xt2dq was there ever a moment Star Wars fans didn’t wanna watch a Kenobi series?
@@GDubbJr Yup, done seeing the 3rd episode, and I'm out. I say give it a go regardless, come to your own conclusions.
It's just something heart warming about seeing old friends come together again.
the only thing i hate about the prequels is jar jar binks.....i don´t know what they have in mind with this anoying creature....
I think the sequel trilogy helped us all appreciate the prequels more.
The prequels where great i like things in those more than the original and vice versa. I just dont get why people hate the phantom menace it was great. Attack on the clones is probably my least favorite. But revenge of the sith is probably the best
@@actionjackson7020 Mostly the OT fans needed that push; the younger fans always liked them.
Revenge of the Sith has gotten mad respect in recent years plus all the prequel memes. Probably meant alot to Hayden and Ewan
Seeing these two together again makes me feel warm inside

Brings warm feelings to my heart.
Like Mustafar Flames 🔥
My dad loving stars wars and then taking me to the prequels was the ultimate bonding experience
Hayden has matured both mentally and physically and he seems genuinely happy and I am happy for him. I've missed seeing him in the Star Wars universe. I appreciated his portrayal as Anakin.
I couldn't think of a better actor for Anakin. In my mind, Hayden is, and always will be, Anakin Skywalker.
Well you get to appreciate it again ;)
These two made my childhood, and seeing them together after 17 years puts a smile on my face.
Honestly seeing Hayden as himself in these interviews shows how good he did in the prequels. Don't understand how people said he was bad in EP 2 and 3
There couldn’t be a better Anakin.
It was honestly the shitty stuff he had to say........... Lucas shoulda had a romance novelist's help writing loving scenes....
The way his story is written is bad. The transition was light to dark was poorly executed in the movies alone
