You showing the pad tap/hold feature is a game changer for my workflow. My past process on sampling multiple portions of the song was a lot more manual and cumbersome and this will save me a lot of time.

Nice video man and great tips/features. Not sure if you just like going into grid editor to mark all the events/markers to delete. But a quick way to do this, is once you copy your sequence, hit the erase button and you can say to clear all events (for the sample program) and you’re ready to start filling in a new sample pattern. Basically saves you from going into the grid editor and snagging all the events to delete.

    • @malobeats

My goodness, my goodness 🤦‍♂️ i’m extremely thankful you took the time out of your day to drop by as I’ve been so frustrated having to select all of the MIDI notes to delete them, I always wish there was a select all to delete and you’re absolutely right, this flu right passed me. Again thank you so so much for taking the time and dropping by I’m definitely gonna be doing this from now on. Much love and blessings to you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

I never used pad tap when sampling. I would always just sample the whole song and then chop the whole thing up. This is a much better way and it saves memory. Thanks!

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Definitely, I’m not a big fan of pulling in the entire song sins depending on how long the song is the session couldn’t start like in a bit but using this function allows me to go back-and-forth and only pick up the parts that I really want to work with. I’m glad it was helpful 🙏🏽

Thank-you for the tips! I forget little things about mpc use all the time and need content like this ⚡️⚡️⚡️
I recently learned to try and look into using multiple samples from different bands/tracks/even genres, on the Sam's song, even if it's ovder just one bar, you can melt so many sounds together to make entirely new sound , listen to "face to face" by daft punk, that intro /chorus is like 6 samples, and they're taken from very surprising spots on tracks from all different artists, find a breakdown of it if you can , genius sampling , really that entire album "discovery" is a great example of sampling creatively, it's easy to fall into a habbit of sample chopping one song and kind if just using big chunks of a song like old-school hip-hop
there's nothing wrong at all with that , there's so many amazing tracks that let their samples do a lot of the heavy lifting , but seeing a group sow together a wild combination helps widen the creative ideas when working on new stuff , or when looking for stuff to sample,
there's no limit to how much you can stir up and re write with samples from anything

Hey Malo, is there a way to set the velocity to control a sample offset?
for example I have a long bass cut that I want to use as a key group, I'd like to use the velocity to scrub through the sample instead so I can still manipulate the pitch or cycle through a selection super fast. It can be done in Ableton and bitwig but I know that might be a less popular feature on here

Does Pad Parameter.. protect all my Start / End points .. from your manual chops ?

If your chops not in order ! Press Shift .. on the Sample edit page ..
make sure One shot tab is on .. Highlighted .. White !
Erase the chops .. and Retry Tapping the pads .. 1-16 .. etc .
One shot has to be on!

Pops and clicks on my one shot programs/sample chops (when sequenced), that first slice bug and other issues killing my vibe 😩 But your enthusiasm has brought me back up lol. The question I have is if there's a way to sample in time with an existing sequence? People suggest the looper but the problem with that is it loops whereas the sampler keeps going up to the chosen time limit. Ideally Akai will update the sequencer to enable the start of a sequence as the trigger.

Great question, this happens to me and I know what you mean when there’s so much going on it’s a bit hard to make it pop in the mix. So far I have used some third-party apps that help with isolating certain instruments but they are not perfect one that I can recommend is called (Moises) I use iPhone and it’s with the color blue so you should be able to download it for free and try to throw some songs in there and it will allow you to isolate certain elements which it does a pretty decent job

Look at all of those hoops you have to jump through in the first couple of mins alone just to get to slicing. Come on man. That ain't right. I have to pull up a video go through it and by that time is over my motivation is dead. If that happens to you go to channel fx. They often get me going again. Lol.
