This is how I would do Qualifying in NASCAR • No one is Safe • No more Charters and Owner Points For Short Tracks: • 3 90 Minute Practice Sessions • 2 50 Lap Heat Races • 1st Heat determines the Odd Number Starting Positions and 2nd Heat Determines the Even Number Starting Positions • 25 Cars per Heat • Random Draw to Determine who goes to which Heat • Top 18 at the end of Both Heats Make the 43 Car Field • Bottom 7 from both Heats will have an LCQ • Top 7 at the End of the LCQ will make the 43 Car on Race Day For Big Ovals: • Qualifying will be similar to Indy 500 Qualifying, Yes Bump Day Qualifying • 3 90 Minute Practice Sessions • 2 Laps of Single Car Qualifying • Top 10 at the End of Qualifying will have a Pole Shootout (2 Laps of Single Car Qualifying also) • Bottom 5 at the End of Qualifying (Positions 36th- 50th) will have an LCQ • Top 7 at the End of the LCQ makes the 43 Car Field For Road Courses: • 3 90 Minute Practice Sessions • 2 Groups (25 Cars per Group) • 1st Group (15 minutes), 2nd Group (15 minutes) • Top 5 from both Groups will have a 10 minute Pole Shootout • Top 18 from Both Groups make the 43 Car Field • Bottom 7 from Both Groups will have an LCQ • Top 7 at the End of the LCQ Make the 43 Car Field on Race Day (10 minutes) And Here's what I would do for the Daytona 500 Qualifying: • The 1st Friday of Feb - Sunday is Daytona 500 Practice and Xfinity and Truck Practice • The Next Saturday (8 Days Later) is Daytona 500 Single Car Qualifying, Top 10 at the end of Single Car Qualifying will Have a 2 Lap Pole Shootout • The Following Day is The Twin 125 Races, for Positions 11th - 50th, Duel 1 Will Determine the Odd Number Starting Positions, Duel 2 Will Determine the Even Number Starting Positions, there will be a Random Draw to Determine who Goes to Each Duel • Top 13 at the End of Each Duel Race makes the Daytona 500 Field, Bottom 7 from Each Heat will have an LCQ • Top 7 at the End of the LCQ makes the 43 Car Field for the Daytona 500
Trackhouse is the most interesting team in NASCAR. Love that they are in MotoGP and will now be running the Rolex 24. Maybe someday they'll run the Indy 500 too.
I’m happy with the changes NASCAR made to the practice/qualifying stuff. And also, that Trackhouse Rolex 24 lineup is going to be insane. I feel like they will be tough to beat at the Rolex 24 next year
Practice should be 50 Minutes every week. Single car-single round qualifying at all ovals. For Road Course- Groups of 8 cars set up by practice speeds each car gets 5 total laps.
This isn't meeting us halfway or anything like that. There's no reason that we cannot have one hour practice for every race weekend. It certainly doesn't cost that much money and the teams are not mandated to go to practice if they don't want to practice they don't have to. So boom they save money. The team's choice to practice or not it's not mandated. So how is it saving money to have shorter practice or no practice?? It's not saving money it's actually costing NASCAR money. There's sponsors and stuff that would pay NASCAR for that are spot for that TV time. Cars could crash and make a viral clip during a practice. So again there is no legitimate reason NASCAR can come up with that they don't have an hour-long minimum practice. For every single race.
That whole Group A and Group B qualifying procedure was so dumb. Thank god qualifying on pure speed matters again.
A very welcome change.
BUT I would love to see one 50 minute practice before and after qualifying.
should be at least 50 minutes practice time for Every series at ALL Tracks
how about an hour for everyone instead of groups
This is how I would do Qualifying in NASCAR
• No one is Safe
• No more Charters and Owner Points
For Short Tracks:
• 3 90 Minute Practice Sessions
• 2 50 Lap Heat Races
• 1st Heat determines the Odd Number Starting Positions and 2nd Heat Determines the Even Number Starting Positions
• 25 Cars per Heat
• Random Draw to Determine who goes to which Heat
• Top 18 at the end of Both Heats Make the 43 Car Field
• Bottom 7 from both Heats will have an LCQ
• Top 7 at the End of the LCQ will make the 43 Car on Race Day
For Big Ovals:
• Qualifying will be similar to Indy 500 Qualifying, Yes Bump Day Qualifying
• 3 90 Minute Practice Sessions
• 2 Laps of Single Car Qualifying
• Top 10 at the End of Qualifying will have a Pole Shootout (2 Laps of Single Car Qualifying also)
• Bottom 5 at the End of Qualifying (Positions 36th- 50th) will have an LCQ
• Top 7 at the End of the LCQ makes the 43 Car Field
For Road Courses:
• 3 90 Minute Practice Sessions
• 2 Groups (25 Cars per Group)
• 1st Group (15 minutes), 2nd Group (15 minutes)
• Top 5 from both Groups will have a 10 minute Pole Shootout
• Top 18 from Both Groups make the 43 Car Field
• Bottom 7 from Both Groups will have an LCQ
• Top 7 at the End of the LCQ Make the 43 Car Field on Race Day (10 minutes)
And Here's what I would do for the Daytona 500 Qualifying:
• The 1st Friday of Feb - Sunday is Daytona 500 Practice and Xfinity and Truck Practice
• The Next Saturday (8 Days Later) is Daytona 500 Single Car Qualifying, Top 10 at the end of Single Car Qualifying will Have a 2 Lap Pole Shootout
• The Following Day is The Twin 125 Races, for Positions 11th - 50th, Duel 1 Will Determine the Odd Number Starting Positions, Duel 2 Will Determine the Even Number Starting Positions, there will be a Random Draw to Determine who Goes to Each Duel
• Top 13 at the End of Each Duel Race makes the Daytona 500 Field, Bottom 7 from Each Heat will have an LCQ
• Top 7 at the End of the LCQ makes the 43 Car Field for the Daytona 500
Ever nascar race should have one 90 minute practice session open to everyone for each series. At least they fixed qualifying

This is still NOT enough...this is a morning warmup
I miss racing too ❤
Trackhouse has evolved since they began in 2021

Ty Majeski is the 2024 cup series champion 🏆?! Haha 😄. I'll take him over Logano haha.
Hey Jett if u want to watch some racing coming up u can watch the gulf 12 hours this weekend from yas marina
wow! we got 5 more minutes everyone! THATS GONNA CHANGE SO MUCH! nascar is really pushing people patients.
25 minute practice is utterly pointless for performance and is simply to make sure the car is built correctly. joke of a motorsport.
Remember when NASCAR was actually simple to understand?
