  • A look at the EcoFlow smart plug and the 5 features it desperately needs to work well with the PowerStream as well as just as a simple smart plug. It's currently an overpriced and very basic smart plug and is very much a one-trick pony.
    If you're going to make the most out of the EcoFlow PowerStream, you'll need a few of these plugs around the house. I've invested in quite a few and have found them to be a little underwhelming in every way. This video looks at a few good features but also some of the things that need adding.

    Why can’t ecoflow develop a power reader from the load to meter cable. So that the inverter can step up to 800w max. You won’t need a smart plug for each appliance.

      Like a p1 that I can plug into my smartmeter. Can't be that hard....apart from them not selling many smartplugs anymore.....

    If you want to share or group them, just connect to smart home with matter.

    Hi, great video, lots of details and explanations! I am looking to buy a balcony solar system. I live in Germany and here Ecoflow sells their systems. I have also been looking at the Zendure solar system but what I really dislike about the Zendure is that the Smart plugs connect to Zendure's servers and not to their "hub". So when their servers go down (and they do!) all the smartplugs report 0w. Not only that, if they ever go bust, your very expensive smartplugs become paperweights...
    So, the question is, do these smartplugs work if you have WiFI but internet connection is down?

    Great video. Good to hear real world experience. It's a shame they have stopped selling the PowerStream in the UK. I am seriously thinking about buying one since I don't want to install solar at my house, since we plan to move within the next 5 to 6 years. What panels do you use with your Powerstream setup? Cheers Richard

      I’d love to get solar on the roof but it’s all about testing and experimenting for me so the PowerStream is perfect. I use a mixture of panels but the 800W is a limitation so I tend to just leave it on 4 x Renogy 175W panels. You could go with 200W but they’re too big for the patch of roof I use. I wouldn’t worry about selling the property because I imagine solar would bump the price of your house up a notch in the future anyway so you’ll probably get most of your investment back. No guarantees though 👍🏻

    But EcoFlow told me today that the Powerstream is not approved for uk use... no feed in allowed therefore into home sockets... so why suggest otherwise?

  • @poledark
    @poledark 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yes if the powerstream met current UK regulations, if it fitted with bs7671 wiring regs & building control & integrated with the solar generators so you could use those inputs as well & it wasn't a low 800W (600W in practise) & it used a mains clamp the powerstream might be a good product

    • @dangerman7408
      @dangerman7408 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Regarding bs7671 regs how does that effect the powerstream,what needs to be done?

    • @poledark
      @poledark 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dangerman7408 since my reply EF have submitted the PS to the ENA for a 3rd time, in a hope it will meet the G98 specifications.
      Whilst the ENA don't publicly state the reasons kit fails, in this case it is widely speculated that the failure to meet BS7671 is the primary reason & this alone means it doesn't make the grade with the UK Network operators & doesn't comply with their customers obligations to meet G98/G99 before connecting to a UK supply & that means if their is an issue users could find themselves 'in trouble' with their operator & without insurance cover
      Its a marmite situation, some care not one bit & others want a legit system
      - hopefully EF works out the problems

    Are you still using the powerstream in the uk? Do you find it gets too hot or is it well cooled

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. It's used every day. It gets very hot when pushing out some power or taking in some power but it's fanless so I would expect it to otherwise the heat is staying inside! The whole case is metal and it happily hits 60C which feels pretty hot but it's never been a problem so far.

  • @waltdistel716
    @waltdistel716 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    is there a maximum number of events you can set to schedule this plug? all the ones I find are way too limited. I want to run a fan every 15 minutes.

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You won’t be able to do that with this plug as it’s too limited. Most plugs could do this with a simple state change and countdown event. You’d probably only need one job (maybe two).

    WTH are you even talking about? The cheapest plug with same capabilities is around 20-25. Were you dreaming maybe when you saw 7 plugs for 34 pounds?
