Was a pleasure to work for Tony, John A&E const and alongside his team. And also really nice clients giving you encouraging feedback along the way. Look forward to the next one cheers Guys.
It was fantastic having you and the guy's on board. You all did an amazing job and we're already looking forward to getting you on the next job! See you soon mate, John 😊
Recent sub, this is just fantastic. So much damage has been done to our wonderful housing stock in the UK by the incorrect use of cementitious rendering systems, it's just so exciting to see it all being done with such care and consideration. 👍👍👍👍👍
What a fascinating introduction to what is obviously a hugely skilled job. These plaster artisans skip along with the job producing a wonderful coat to enshrine this beautiful home. The skill and knowledge all being quietly and stoically applied throughout their working day to produce a truly magnificent home. Each stage is a wonder in itself. Once again .a quality job from quality builders.
Excellent job guys, love that you cut the piece off that board with the big piece between the blade and the guide, soo many people cut with the small piece between the blade and the guide, then the saw throws the small piece at themselves lol, you guys are masters at everything!
I never had a chance to work with lime render. But being in the trade for 20 years I could pick it up really quick. I looked it up coz I'm interested in doing things I haven't done.
John that is an epic finish! Those boys know what they are doing...top quality. The ashlar lines are amazing! I’d never seen those before, what a brilliant finish. Love it. As always thanks for filming, editing etc. Great job 👌🏼🏴👍🏼
No scrapy Romanians plastering there ... you are lucky you are out of london English plasteres who are masters of their craft are hard to find here Thats beautiful to admire
Hello wanted to ask, in your opinion is possible to use cement (for better setting) with hydrated lime and sand (0,5:1:5 ratio) for rendering a brick wall layed with lime mortar, as it is quite difficult to find hydraulic lime in our region? Or even small amounts of cement will trap moisture, make wall unbreathable and ruin the bricks? Kind regards
guessing they have to come back after the scaffolding is down as those big hooks (08:47) are anchored to the poles which will leave a hole in the render, unless they are left in place?
Thank you so much for the video! I’m renovating an old stone and lime walls and really really want to do it the right way and honour the fantastic building techniques of those times…. My house has been sitting without a roof for 12y and the walls are in such amazing shape, it’s amazing. Builders want to use cement… But I know that’s a huge no no for stone walls and want to do it the right way but really don’t know anything about it so trying to gather as much info as I can…. Builders tell me if I just use lime and sand that it will be too soft? Both for interior and exterior? Can you help me with any into on that? Cheers!
Definitely lime them look online and you will be able to find a traditional lime plaster just do your research also it is a lot more expensive than cement about 4times but worth every Penny
Like the video and site you've chosen to film on. Please explain a bit more why you're using NHL 2 and what sand you've chosen and how you're mixing it and applying various coatings. WEAR SOME SAFETY EQUIPMENT YOU GUYS!!!
It looks amazing. May I ask how much time you waited between coats?. Also, the final "decorative element" you did, these lines, did you do that when the lime was dry? or wet? (or semi dry?). Thank you
Hi Zed Man, Yes it was. We knew that a large section of the wall was blown, so some remedial work was needed. Unfortunately, when we started to remove the area, the rest came off with it! Ultimately it will make for a better job, which will protect the house for many years to come. Thanks for watching. All the best, John 😊
Hi Edward Church, The wall will be painted with a specialist mineral based paint, which is fully breathable and perfect for this application. Lime wash has a lifespan of around 5 years, whereas the paint we will be using has a lifespan of around 15 years. There will be a video fully explaining both the paint and the process, in the future; so keep your eyes peeled for that. Thanks for watching. All the best, John 😊
@@BuildWithAE Great video. Watched with interest as we need to re-render our Georgian townhouse in the next year or two. With regard to the painted finish I had been considering a Lime wash or mineral based paint as you mention, I wondered if the mineral paint would give to "even" a colour for the stone effect, and whether the lime wash (albeit with its shorter lifespan) would give a better "Stone Effect" with its slightly uneven wash finish? Interested if you have any thoughts, or if it is just down to personal taste?
hey can i check if a team of 2 would be interested to explore assisting & supervising construction of a farmhouse in rural india ( rubble walls with lime plaster )
Hi telstar9, There's no cement in the mix at all, just lime sand and synthetic hair. If you check out the description beneath the video, there's a link to the website which explains all 😁 Hope this helps. All the best, John 😊

Amazing video and amazing projects. Thanks for sharing. Really great to see.

Top quality. Can't wait for the removal of the scaffolding so we can get a better look!
Definitely! Thanks for watching buddy 👍

From back to bricks to finished render 👍🏻👍🏻fantastic job lovely and smooth.
A credit to their trade! Thanks for watching Mark 👍
That looks brilliant, I bet the real skill comes when the scaffoldings taken down and you look at it from the otherside of the road!
We'll be sure to grab some nice shots of the exterior in a future episode when the scaffold comes down. Thanks for watching David 👍

Why not tell us what sand was used and ratio, plus what were the bits of whatever added into the mixer
Thanks for the video, what did you use to fix the timbers for hard angles, and did use set them at exact depth of render,?had to see on phone.
Awesome. Hard graft but what a neat finish

They will be patched in. 10 minute job
Hi madge bishop,
Yes, they will be patched in as the scaffold is taken down.
Thanks for watching.
All the best, John 😊
any chance of having the instructions reuploaded? the pdf seems to have been deleted; thanks!

Good question, lime render is meant to be kept damp for around a week.
How come they haven't used hessian to keep the render damp ?
Fantastic job. Love a bit of like render. Naturally breathable walls. Was the scaffold put up with the rendering in mind?
Hi Zed Man,
Yes it was. We knew that a large section of the wall was blown, so some remedial work was needed. Unfortunately, when we started to remove the area, the rest came off with it!
Ultimately it will make for a better job, which will protect the house for many years to come.

Another top quality job they made that look so easy but trust me it’s not 💪
Thanks guys, have an awesome weekend 👍
Brilliant work. Can I ask, does the timber edging bead process need to be repeated for each coat?
Can you mix lime out of the bag instead of using lime putty?
Beautiful! Seriously nice finish that! 👍
You gonna lime wash it white next then?
Hi Edward Church,
The wall will be painted with a specialist mineral based paint, which is fully breathable and perfect for this application.
Lime wash has a lifespan of around 5 years, whereas the paint we will be using has a lifespan of around 15 years.
There will be a video fully explaining both the paint and the process, in the future; so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Real tidy job that

Great quality!
Thanks Chris 👍
'Really effective' 👍
hey can i check if a team of 2 would be interested to explore assisting & supervising construction of a farmhouse in rural india ( rubble walls with lime plaster )
Nice job 👍👍👍
Thanks Rhys! 👍
Perfect
i have this on my property. what can i use to paint it, just normal masonry emulsion or something specific.?
I’m sure limewash would have been used originally but it’s messy. Silicate paints are often used on external lime render/stucco these days instead.
No!!! Don't use modern paints. Defeats the objective
Bit of K-rend, cup of tea, grab cash, ta da, round the lion for a thatchers. Cheers mate.
Do all listed builds have to have plasterwork replaced like for like ?
Hi Mat me personally yes but not always the case all the best Tony 👍
Great video
Thanks David, enjoy the rest of your week 👍
Hi there, what is the ratio mix for a lime plaster render
There’s a link in the video description to a document by Ty Mawr on the various mix ratios bud 😊👍
Quality work cheers
Thanks BB, take care bud 👍
How much do you pay for lime rendering/ plastering pm2?
Does the Lime replace the cement completely ?
Hi telstar9,
There's no cement in the mix at all, just lime sand and synthetic hair. If you check out the description beneath the video, there's a link to the website which explains all 😁
Hope this helps.
All the best, John 😊
I can't understand anything there saying.
Fantastic job looks incredible instagram-rwplastering45
Rob and the team absolutely smashed it out of the park with this one. Credit to their trade 👍
