She and I have twin personalities. I even kept old issues of Victoria from the 90s. I wish I did have a friend like her, but so far I haven't met anyone who shares interest in these things. Sad for those who don't.

I really enjoyed this Jennifer! It’s so nice that you kept these! I started laughing at your comment about the Victoria’s Secret ad being more modest back then. I absolutely HATE walking through the mall with my family because of that particular store.

Ooooooh this was so lovely Jennifer. The 90s were so romantic, proper Laura Ashley era. I wish I could have been an adult during the 90s, but it was pretty magical being a child too. This entire aesthetic is what I thought *I’d* have myself when I had my own home. Tastes have definitely changed, and sadly for me in the wrong direction! Who has a time machine I could borrow?

This magazine is still published , thanks goodness!!! In fact yesterday I bought the recent one from this November/December issue 😊😊😊 ( this magazine is now bimonthly) and believe me , the aesthetic of this magazine hasn’t changed !! Just I noticed that recently the magazine is more focus on beautiful and romantic Victorian , Edwardian and rococo home decor than fashion and less ads that nothing to do with , so that’s great for me , but however Victoria magazine always has been so beautiful then and now ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The older (90s) Victoria’s are so much more charming than the newer ones. Once they stopped and then restarted in the early 2000s, it never quite got the original “feeling” back.

Thank you for all your sacrifices that you do to touch our families here in Las Vegas. You are a gem and may the Lord continue blessing you in every way.

In what can only be described as a fit of pregnancy related insanity, I got ride of my 25+ year collection of Victoria magazines when baby number 2 was on the way (he’s almost 13 now). Pulled out the pictures I liked and tossed them. Thankfully, I found my favorite issue (June ‘92 I think) and some others at a rummage sale, and a few more at the thrift store. Can’t wait to watch this in length later!

This was an absolute joy! I have quite a large collection of Victoria Magazines, the oldest ones from 1998. I keep them in a special basket and rotate them with the seasons. They are my go-to when I'm depressed because they never fail to bring me joy. I'm so thankful that my mother started buying Victoria and sharing it with me. She is 91 now and still loves to read it, so a few years ago I started getting her a subscription for Christmas. Victoria will always be my favorite magazine. Thank you so much for this lovely video, Jennifer. In a world that is so lacking in all things genteel, Victoria is a shining star.

I adore Victoria magazine. I've kept every single issue. I feel that they lost their way slightly a few years ago and for a while I stopped buying it. So happy to see they're back on track although living where I do, I'm always playing catch up with the latest issues.😊 This is a lovely idea and I, for one, would be very happy to see this every month.

My son was born in March 1994. My subscription to Victoria was my down-time. There was a different publisher then. They ceased publication and a couple of years later it was revived by the same publisher that produces Southern Lady and a few others. I became familiar with Tasha Tudor during those days as well. It was during that time that I fell in love with Rosamunde Pilcher and Cornwall England.

This was delightful, Jennifer, and I would enjoy watching a "Victoria" tour monthly. I have my "Victoria Magazines" in magazine file boxes. I just checked, and the oldest one I have is October 1993. Typically, as the months change, I pull out several of the current month's issue from various years and place them upstairs and down~in guest rooms, the sitting room, the living room and even bathrooms! I love picking them up and looking through them. I appreciate them for their beauty and also for the very interesting articles and stories. The travel issues to England, Scotland, France, etc. make one feel as if they have been there. After traveling in England in 2016, it was such fun for me to come home and read more about the places we had been and the places we were not able to see. It is a beautiful, inspiring, and educational magazine. I have picked some issues up at very low cost from libraries and since they are duplicates of what I have, I go through them and cut out pictures I like. I paste them into my own personalized "hard copy" of Pinterest! :)

I enjoyed having a subscription of Victoria for quite a long time. They were all donated to our Library bookstore. As my minimilist journey began; the style of more fussy and too many decorative items changed. I preferred Simple Magazine; then transitioned to no magazine subscriptions. Can read issues at the library. Thanks for sharing though. Nice to go down memory lane.

I used to keep all my Victoria Magazines but sadly I got rid of many of them. Here's a fun fact, I first read of Childe Hassam on the pages of Victoria, I believe they featured some of his work. You read a quote by Celia Thaxter in this issue and it reminded me that she wrote a book "An Island Garden" and the pictures and "illuminations" are painted by Childe Hassam! I ordered the book many years ago and it is beautiful! I think you would enjoy reading "Living a Beautiful Life" by Alexandra Stoddard, it's an older book but so good.

I love that dress so much! I've tried several times to order it but it sells out so quickly I never get a chance! Today they just got my size back in stock so I ordered it right away and by the time I finished, it was out of stock again! Hope it went through because I am working on my own capsule wardrobe and I want that dress in it!! So lovely!

Thanks for doing this, Jennifer! What a neat idea for a video. I was only 3 years old when this issue came out 😳 but I remember my mother wearing Vanilla Fields. If the 90’s had a scent, I think it would be that one 😂
Also, I recently went vintage shopping and scored a lovely 90’s dress. I kind of can’t believe that the 90’s is now vintage 🤦🏼‍♀️♥️
    God bless! 😊

I got goosebumps. I totally remember that magazine! Reminds me of shopping in Bell Cottage in Fashion Square Mall and seeing reruns of Somewhere in Time. 😊 //
Last I checked, modest clothing like that is still available if you Search clothing for, like, Christian women. (Religious context.)

Wow! What a look back! The lady in the front of the magazine could be you! She totally resembles you.
My favorite decor is blue & white! We have been married 31+ years and I have always decorated with what we were gifted from the very beginning. Even as our family grew my hubby and I simply used what we had to work with even for the bedding in our bedroom. When Hurricane Harvey came through and gutted our house a few very close friends and church members encouraged me to dream of what I want to decorate with and just start slow. God knew I needed the encouragement! I picked a beautiful Daulton pattern for our kitchen “Moonlite Rose” and through the whole renovation my choice colors were white and slight grey that has a blue hue! Our bedroom I went with quilts! My grandmother made quilts and they were very special to me!
I really enjoyed going back in time with you! AND I can use your words with my grown daughters and tell them I like “classic traditional” looks! I’m not old!😉😂
Take care and God bless, Brenda ~

I went thru my own Victorias a while back looking for something. What struck me most was the classified ads in the back, no email or web addresses! The Nancy Lindemeyer issues are still my favorites. Victoria was the anti Cosmo, lol. Nothing vulgar on those pages.
It makes me crazy when people, especially the media, insist that the 90s were Nirvana and grunge music. I was 26 when Teen Spirit was released, that was for teens. Many of us in our 20s and older had no relationship with that genre. I and my friends were full on Victoria girls, tea sets, hats, shopping at Crabtree & Evelyn and Laura Ashley.

I am so fortunate to have 100's of older magazines that I have kept since the 80's even when moving abroad! These include Victoria, Romantic Country, Coastal Living, and many others. I love looking through them from time to time. I am amazed, however, to see that some decor has definitely not changed. Sometimes when something works, then it is still en vogue, especially in bedrooms. Using lovely vintage pieces does not ever go out of style if you love the look and comfort of the decor. Enjoy your video!

Somewhat tricky seeing as we are in different countries😅.

This was so nice! I absolutely love Victoria Magazine. I discovered the Magazine with the 2nd issue back in 1987 - missed the first one unfortunately, however, I have every issue ever published from that date until today and I never get tired of poring over and over through them. Thank you for this and I hope you do it again soon!

Yes please! Sorry about the LONG comment here. I have these magazines too, but it's always fun to hear someone else remark on how things used to be. Also I'm happy that someone else besides me likes the traditional decor and all of this now " old " stuff. I will politely disagree that I don't think it becomes " dated " because it is Traditional. And that is an established way of decorating that is of the past with architectural elements and older style reproductions, or actual vintage and antiques. Your lovely home is a great example of it. 🌹 That can't change, otherwise it's not Traditional decor anymore. So I know people look at it as dated because it was popular then but not now. But for those people who love antiques and classic prints for their walls, really no other style suits that. Except perhaps the eclectic look like on the now classic series Friends, where you just mix it all together and it's fun. I love the Friends series, and I like that look and that's more my style somewhat. Because I do like some newer stuff mixed in, not much though. But if you look at the bones of it, the apartment in that series still had all of the traditional architectural elements to support it. I think also Shabby Chic isn't going anywhere, Farmhouse is big right now and has been for a while and it fits Shabby Chic really well. I think hopefully a feminine and classic style will always be in style.
Also I loved what you said about Victoria's Secret. So true, back then I worked in a Mall right across from one. And back then it was a romantic and traditional looking store, believe it or not. I know some of us actually remember, but some might be too young. The architecture and design elements of that store back then looked lovely and very comforting, truly like it's name. I loved to go in there just for the feel of the place, it soothed my nerves like your videos do, or a good cup of tea. The look of the entire store was like a little shop out of Harry Potter, very olde English, dark woods, the place smelled of potpourri and sold romantic Cd's of classical music and lovely old fashioned/romantic perfumes too. It even sold a book or two of things like English Gardens. No really, put out by Victoria's Secret! I've actually got one. LOL😉 I can remember when they tore it all out and made it look somewhat like it does today. That's when I stopped shopping there too. I wished then, as now, that they'd simply branched out and left the old Victoria's Secret that way for the middle aged to older, or more modest women. Then just did a young teen and 20's shop Victoria's Secret the way it is now, kind of like how The Gap and Old Navy are of the same company.
Your channel is such an oasis in a rather superficial, trendy, and annoying time. Also I have really appreciated your Biggest Enemy to Homemaking series. I struggle with that though I love my home. It's nice to hear even someone as together as you are has to struggle with it also and I am not alone in that. 💖

Oh my gosh, I just bumped into this. I have every issue of the original Victoria Magazines, too! And the way you study each page reminds me of the way I used to. Each issue was special to me, and I would open the magazine until the kids were in bed, I had my tea, and could take as much as I needed to study each page and read each article over the course of several days. Thank you for such a nice reminder of those special moments :)

@Roasting Thyme I love Victoria Magazine. My first husband and I were stationed in WA State for the latter part of the 90s/early 2000s & he was gone a lot. We had our little daughter & I was alone with her most of the time. I always looked forward to my monthly subscription of Victoria Magazine. In 1998, they did a beautiful spread about the set for Practical Magic on Whidbey Island & I remember going there just so I could see the town. I really think those magazines are collectibles. Just beautiful photography.

The letterbox you showed and the magazine all remind me of this Victorian themed perfume I used to wear in the 90s called L’efluer I loved Victorian stuff then too. My bedroom was cherry and had a four poster bed ... hunter green and burgundy were the popular color choices. If you love this kind of stuff there is an awesome company called the Victorian trading company. They used to send me catalogues but I’m not sure if they still do that but they were something to look forward to each season they have beautiful stuff.

I still love the early 90's decorating style. I was a 90's kid so I relate completely. My aunt had the entire vintage Victoria magazine collections. My favorite thing to do was to sit and look at all of her magazines when we would visit.
