Do you do any of these bad habits? Please share your experience below. Thank you for watching! Love, Jennifer
I especially needed to hear your advice, to trust that God is in control. I recently buried one parent, caregiving for the other parent with dementia, working full time and raising children. Stressed! You’re right, pausing and trusting in God can be calming. Thank you!
I am with you Jen. I am caring for my husband who recently had a stroke that affected the right side of his body and speech. He also has vascular dementia. My days can be very hard, I have difficulty sleeping, and almost daily headaches from the stress. I try and meditate on God's word and remember His promises and faithfulness, but I sometimes pick my burdens right back up after giving them to God. I will pray that you can have peace and joy in the midst of what you are going through.
As soon as I stop “grazing” on snacks, and let my stomach get hungry for meals, which makes me eat dinner in time, and then don’t eat after, I get the best sleep! And my skin looks better!
I am 59 yo and recently finished memorizing the entire book of James. I recite it a couple times every morning before I leave for work. I was surprised I could accomplish this and I hope I can always remember it. I just subscribed. First time watching!
@@elventryst my biggest struggle was being patient with myself. Just be consistent and stay focused. Don't be overwhelmed by how much there is to memorize. Set small attainable goals.
All good tips but I would add daily exercise. It helps with sleep, stress and cognitive health. I’ve often seen it referred to as the closest thing to a fountain of youth that we have. The older you are the more you need it.
At 67, my husband has stage 5 Parkinson's and I was doing his caretaking all by myself. A few months ago I hired someone to come in from 10:00-2:00 and I am taking a really fun water aerobics class 3x week and getting a massage once a month and just getting out to lunch with friends. I also walk the dog every day. I feel and look younger and happier due to this self care. The stress can get the better of me if I don't take it by the horns. Your suggestions were great and I intend to get Dr. Carmichael's book! Thank you as always Dear Girl!
Oh this is so good to hear you doing I so wish my mum had done the same as she looked after my step dad with Parkinsons and worked full time and by the time he passed she got breast cancer from all the stress of looking after him and my grandma who lived till 99! Now I’m caring for my mum she has stage 4 ❤
@@DistinguishedBeauty oh that is so sad to loose both your parents so young! I think grief can be aging cause we tend not to care much for our self when hurting ❤️💔✝️🙏🏽
Agree with everything you’re saying! At a checkup a few days ago, my Dr. even commented to me that my intermittent fasting is reversing the aging process (I’m 66 years old). Also , yes! Sleep is so important, however, I think that going on just a few hours a night is still viewed as a badge of honor in our culture. I think people would be much more pleasant and easy-going if they’d make sleep and rest a priority. Tired people aren’t easy to be around.
I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT I AM NOT RELIGIOUS BUT I WILL SAY THAT THERE IS SOMETHING AND I WONT SAY ITS GOD BUT NO ONE IS PROMISED TOMORROW AND I BELIEVED WE ARE JUDGED BY THIS SOMETHING AND ITS BASIC GOOD KARMA TREAT EVERYONE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED AND ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT THE TRUTH WILL AWAYS BE EXPOSED HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY ❤
Thicker eyebrows are definitely young-ifying. I started letting the eyebrows thicken last year , little by little, and found using an eyebrow brush with light gel a great way to get that look. Excessively plucked eyebrows were a bad habit from the 90s that was surprisingly hard to break
*What an absolute JOY to hear you quote scripture!!* 📖 I’m just a little older than you, and I’m so delighted to find your channel. I think it’s my new favorite!! Cannot wait to watch more. Thank you so much!! 🥰
Thanks you for sharing your faith which is what will truly calm ones soul and keep us from stress. It is rare to hear a native Californian discuss openly their trust in God. Mostly we just hear people discuss the “Universe”. Very good tips!! Thank you.
One way I deal with stress is to stop and remember the many, MANY times I was stressed in the past and think…did any of those bad outcomes I was losing sleep over actually happen? 10 out of 10 times for me they didn’t! Helps me put everything in perspective. ❤
@ NYCeeXo I love this! It reminds me of a time when I would write down my concerns or worries just to check back later and show myself that worrying was a waste of time. Good for journaling. 😊
Praying the rosary before breakfast really sets up my day with peace, and altho I'm mostly home bound, i watch the dailybmass on TV and pay complet attention to everything prayed, praying and singing in all the parts I know! I highly reccommend attending the daily mass in person! You really see a difference in your life!
I think having a healthy diet is important and anti aging. I changed my diet this year as a resolution and have lost about 30 lbs. I avoid refined sugar as much as possible now and junk food. I like a low sugar/sugar free lifestyle now. Intermittent fasting is also great.
Thank you for this wonderful video. My mother is unhappy with my decision to not dye my hair as it has begun to turn gray. She often comments how “old” it’s going to make me look. But I feel there are so many other things that age someone, and isn’t growing old a wonderful privilege that many don’t get? I do want to age gracefully though, even if I am choosing to let the gray grown in. I need to get back to watercolor painting, as it helps me deal with stress and will be good for my mental clarity. One of my daughters is dealing with a health challenge right now and I’ve been letting the stress of that situation distract me from the things I need to do to keep myself mentally and physically healthy so I can be a more intentional mother to her and my other children. Thank you for that reminder! ❤
I am in the exact same situation. My mother has consistently mocked people who choose to go grey, and of course I’m terrified to go through with it. But I am at peace because no mother should predicate her love of her child on how they look. Going grey is a natural process and if you choose to allow it to happen gracefully, there is absolutely no shame. It is to be hoped by this time in our life, we have learned to look past the makeup on our face and the dye on our hair. Looking clean and well groomed is enough for the exterior; it is the interior we should be focused on. Our life of prayer. Our cooperation with God’s will. A loving heart. All of which is to say- go grey without feeling ashamed :)
I'm letting my grey-white hair grow in and am so happy I dont have to color my hair! Also, it gives the skin a kind of light and glow! I have white skin-
I decided in my 30's to stop coloring my hair, because I didn't want to end up trapped into it for the rest of my life to avoid what my mother has always called her "skunk line" 😂. She would have a gray stripe where her hair parted if she couldn't dye her hair when it was due for it. I have had such freedom in letting my hair go grey naturally. It is a wonderful choice!
I appreciate your tips and agree that daily movement and no snacking are essential. I'm 72, retired 8 months ago. CEFR level B2 French, B1 Spanish, 5-7 hours a week language study. I lift weights twice weekly and walk/jog in the park 3-4 days a week, getting about 45k steps a week total. Meditation, journaling, reading, gardening. I write each morning (pen & paper). Eating well 2 meals a day without snacks, staying well hydrated. I'm an omnivore, eating home cooked meals containing whole foods, low carbs. No alcohol, sweets, flour, sugar, or seed oils. Rare take out. No eating out. Didn't always eat like this, didn't always move like this, but mostly I did because my work was all sedentary. Some of the time, I ran at lunch each day. Mostly I ran before work. I hiked, camped, an outdoors kinda gal. My current wardrobe is mainly hiking and athletic wear. I did dress in pants suits for work before covid. During covid, my company laid off 30% of their global workforce, causing me to work at least 70 hours a week. At that time, I began to wear hiking pants and t-shirts on the job, working from home and the office. Function and comfort over style. I was the only woman in my team (software developer) at this job. Literally, everyone wore jeans and tshirts, including my VP because we didn't have public facing jobs. It was a fintech company. When I was in school it was skirts only. In uni, pants were ok and I rarely looked back. After the end of the 1970s, I wore a dress 3 times that I recall.
The moment the video began I exclaimed out loud “wow Jennifer you look wonderful”. Those colours really make you sing. Lovely deep jewel tones seem to suit you ❤
Part 2 would be great. When we become conscious of habits that don’t serve us well, we can make changes. Much of what you said resonated with me in my 30’s too because it felt like everything “was top priority “ my kids, my career, my home!
I love these reminders, and I think the new name Seek Out the Arts is great! I’m 33 and over the last couple years, two major family losses and an injury that left me unable to do my job have noticeably aged me, inside and out. I feel these points you recommend are great for regular maintenance or to start taking steps forward from heavy life circumstances. Thank you for the encouragement Jennifer!❤
They have done research on cancer patient telemeres before and after chemo treatment. The length of telemeres (longer telemeres = longer life span) even though chemo significantly shortened telemeres, those that did not suffer from depression post chemo were able to fully heal and regain the telemere length. So if you had a stressful period in life, there is still hope. You just need to really take the time to focus on rebounding and getting back in a better space. Those that had depression post chemo never regained their telemere lengths and there dna was permanently “aged” with shorter telemeres
I quit coffee ( it causes me to be worse with coffee and I switched to black/green teas once a day) Mindfulness, stoicism, self cognitive therapy, and gratefulness does wonders for me, thank you for the video!
I've been wondering if I should quit coffee as well. I drink mine with lots of half and half and honesly, can't drink it with less so it's not only the caffeine but the sugar in the h&h that isn't helping my weight or my sense of calm.
As one of your subscribers who is from the Midwest... Charlie Behrens is 100% accurate and I love that he's funny to someone from a completely different area.
Yet another helpful video. However, re lowering stress by getting adequate sleep: women should understand that when they are in that young children phase, sleep may be quite disjointed. But please understand this is just a phase and will pass - all too soon. So stress not about these things and get/accept as much help as possible. This advice comes to you from a grandma of 5 wondering where the time went. But must admit, at the grandparent stage, the delightful grandchildren WILL lower your stress too!
I agree. There's no such thing as a full night sleep when you have small children haha! Actually admitting and accepting that made that time a lot more tolerable. Then I was able to focus more on taking actions to increase the quality of sleep I did get. You're totally right, it passes. Now my youngest is 3 and mostly sleeps through, and I find myself sad that my baby days are over.
It’s been the stress for my husband and I over the past year. We had a rental property with very very bad tenants. And not just because they didn’t pay, they were very bad people. Legally we could not evict them for the things they had done so we tried the route of eviction through selling the property. And someone just gave us a cash offer on our house. We closed on Monday thank God. Now we can move on with our lives.
Sorry you had to go through this, it sounds extreme that you had to sell. Would you share what were the things you cannot evict for? The more I hear these horror stories the less I want to one day own rentals.
Yes, Thank God you can move on! Unfortunately so many in this life are looking for good decent people to walk all over & the world encourages them. Stay courageous and pray for the next step 💐🍰
These are smart considerations! Another thing to consider is that stress, unchecked, leads to a whole host of other unhealthy and aging habits like poor sleep and diet, not enough exercise, and a lack of energy which can lend itself to avoiding mentally stimulating activities. Get rid of stress and you reduce or eliminate many of the other things. I am sure there is no one size fits all advice for reducing stress but when I edited my activities including work, it neutralized a lot of stress. Good luck, everyone- take care of yourselves! ❤
Just turned 40 this year and my 1 and 4 year old are keeping me stressed and sleep deprived. At least that’s the story I’ve been telling myself. Time to do more of what I can change and be a better mom in the long run- hopefully 😂. Thanks for this video and inspiration as always!
You have given us some very practical, effective tips! I am so encouraged by the advice. Thank you for continuing to mention IF. My downfall is eating in the evening and continually snacking. Singing helps me with stress. Also, quoting scripture or poetry to myself makes a difference..
Agreed Jennifer ! I love Jon Crist and Trey Kennedy too. Sleep, absolutely. Daily walks for me and exercise. 10 mins of rebounding a day. However the biggest would be cleaning up my diet and definitely not snacking any longer. I'm 42 also and did it so wrong especially in my teens and 20s and into 30s. I look and feel better now than ever AND I'm expecting my first!!!!
I loved this video! It's confirmation to me that I should keep home schooling, crocheting and being creative, plunking away at the piano even though there is an endless list of "practical things" to do, drinking tea in the afternoon, and reading a bit before bed (I am a fairly good house keeper, but we have four boys and recently moved into a new home and are expecting another baby any day now)! I recently read a book called The Well Read Mom, based on the book club program of the same name, and I think you would find encouragement and inspiration from the points in that book. We live in a busy culture that places so much emphasis on short cuts, being busy/ hustling, where we each stack up against the others, that reading from actual books is a little old-fashioned and that kind of thing. I love home schooling because I learn and relearn along with my children and now teen (how did that happen?!), and we focus on the progress we each make and the process of understanding, we discuss poetry and our faith and virtue, and I try to instill in my family the value of making things, growing things, caring for people and things. I didn't think about how this all relates to my aging and to theirs, too, until you shared this video. It really gives me a boost of encouragement that what we're doing and the ways I take time for myself to recharge are not superfluous! Thank you!
Thanks Jennifer for always inspiring us and giving us wonderful tips! I am also a fan of intermittent fasting. Also, As I am getting older I have realized the importance of sleep. It is the most simple thing that has the most significant affect on our physical and mental health. I have been prioritizing sleep lately and I can already feel the difference. Thanks again, and have a wonderful day!
Thank you for the stress-management tips. My husband and I have a big decision to make for our family and it has been weighing on us both heavily. It is so good to remember that God is in control and will work all things for good, and that “none of these things move me”. God bless you, Jennifer!
If anyone would like more information on fasting, I thought the Huberman Lab podcast did an excellent episode on it (Episode 41), but make sure to talk to your doctor!
I agree with this 1000%. I also started intermittent fasting, sleeping, stressing less and reading more in the last 3 years. Other people have noticed. My teen daughter told me when we were looking through old pictures, that I look younger now. A few times recently I have run into people who I haven't seen in a long time. They literally don't recognize me. I'm 40 and I definitely look younger than I did when I was 35.
Excellent tips! Thank you! By the way, that red silk is gorgeous on you!! Speaking of aging…. Just a suggestion for a book review, Carol Tuttle’s “It’s Just My Nature” and “Dressing Your Truth” free video course might be of great interest to you and your listeners. There are some fascinating tips on how to dress in a way that honors your energy type, and what and why certain colors age you, depending on your type.
She is the best and most-accurate I have encountered, having studied/tried several others. Makes capsule wardrobing easy-peasy. It's so much more than just the color of one's clothes. Her energy approach is what is exceptionally insightful.
@@jackiebowen6239 So fun to meet a fellow DYTer! 😁 Yes, I agree, it is so very helpful. I found it deeply healing, emotionally, when I began to understand others in my past better, and myself. I feel like a spy with a secret code when I people-watch, I can tell a lot about them just by looking at their features and movement.
@@marielle2066 Yes I agree, it is so helpful on so many levels! I haven’t read the “Child Whisperer” completely, I paged through it when I was at the Dressing Your Truth boutique store in Salt Lake, Utah.
Good morning dear Jennifer. This was such an amazing video and most definitely looking forward to a part two. I have been working on self improvement for years and believe that we can always improve ourselves regardless of age or where we are in life. I appreciate all of your hard work, time and wisdom that you share with us. Blessings to you and your family. 💖
Sleep was a big problem for me. Went through a sleep study and needed a CPAP - I'm a changed person - IM RESTED and now I can work, think and emotionally feel better. My appetite decreased and my workouts ramped up. Check out a sleep study - once you are 40 - you never know! 😀
This is amazing. Everyone who knows me thinks that I am a workaholic and I agree. I can not keep still. I need to keep going. I have, however, learned to take it easy and not allow stress to take over especially as my family has a history of nervous breakdown and heart attacks. My biggest tip is to stay healthy through exercise and eating healthy. Since I started to eat healthy in 2016 and then exercise in 2017, I have been off my meds : anti-hypertension and anti-cholesterol. It is life-changing and I have never felt younger. I am 61. :) I am very physically active - hiking, dancing, creative arts, etc. I believe in the power of truly staying in touch with your inner self so I relate so much with your teaching. Keep up the good work. :)
Great Reminders! Sleep is my current challenge. Trying to get outside more and take a relaxing break in the afternoon to manage stress as I know that is part of what is making it difficult to get good, quality sleep.
Thank you so much for this blog. I am living in a war zone which of course brings much stress I pray daily and on this past Saturday I gave over lol my prayers and told Him I trust in His judgement to deal wisely with lol that is going on here. And I turned over and went to sleep. ❤
Oh yes I can relate to a few of these. With 2 under 2 and one special needs teen I definitely don’t sleep enough. The eating all day is something I’ve improved on greatly thanks to learning more about intermittent fasting. I have also done something like a capsule wardrobe but it doesn’t yet reflect my true style because I’m still breastfeeding. Thank you for the ongoing encouragement, motivation, and inspiration on all the topics you touched in this video. I’m looking forward to the next one 💕
You are really a blessed soul !! 🤗 No negativities will harm you because you hv complète faith.. ❣️ I love and respect you loads my evergreen lady !! 💙 Stay blessed ... 💖
Thank you for your timely advice! I am in my 30's and in the throes of having children as well and I've been thinking I look old! I have been working on lowering/handling my stress level recently. Sleep is a struggle for me though! I need to work on that. I have two very dear friends. We homeschool our children and we're very invested in giving them a good classical education and recently we've started investing in ourselves in that area. We started a book club. We read "The Well Educated Mind" which is a book about how to read the classics and now we're reading through the classics that she lists in chronological order. We just finished Gilgamesh and now we're starting the Iliad. It's been such a wonderful challenge!
Music is a major mood/stress changer for me. I’ve created playlists for dealing with miscellaneous situations. They work very quickly. I like to listen with headphones when possible to help create my music bubble.
All 3 of those things will help your marriage be more fulfilling as well, which in turn will help you be less stressed and therefore age even better! What a positive cycle to be in!
@@deniseharrell1591 Excellent recommendation! Enjoyed this piece for decades without knowing the name; one of our children played this on the piano in repetition and I miss this!
Hello Jennifer! I agreee with you!! Most of us have had these bad and unhealthy habits. Sometimes life is tremendously exigent and we fall in them. Thanks for the tips to avoid or change them into good ones. Yes, I would love a #2 video!! Thank you so much, Jennifer. I wish you all a nice and calm day. Best regards from Spain. 🌻
Stress and less disciplined eating since I became a mom of twins. Thank you for the commiseration and inspiration to try again. You make me feel hopeful!! Blessings to you, lady.
Thank you!! I appreciate your encouragement!! The little ones are soooo magical and just now getting to be a bit more self sufficient. So I am eagerly planning a glow up/habit improvement season. ❤️
@@briore3856 I’ve heard it takes a solid year to recover fully from a pregnancy. For twins I assume will take a little bit longer than that. Good luck with the recovery! I love your motivation for maintaining healthy habits to set your recovery off on a good start. This is a marathon not a sprint….unfortunately 😭
The best thing about this video is how you have related it to yourself. I too have improved in many areas of my life and one of the books I would recommend is 'polish your poise' by you! X
Some other things that age a person faster is not using sunscreen, continually looking down at a phone, tablet, what have you increases wrinkles on your neck (which can make you look older). Yes, I'd love a part 2. 😊👍🐾
Thank you. Today was a dreadful work day, remembered some of these suggestions. Been doing IF for several months, but daily life has been full of incredible challenges. Thank you for the reminders.
Thanks for this! I always wondered how you managed on so little sleep and did it ‘all’ without help. I’m glad to hear how this new perspective has helped you! I’m on a very similar journey!
Awesome video, thank you so much Jennifer and may the Lord continue to bless you and your family. Please dedicate one whole video to stress!! YES! God IS in control and nothing can ever separate us from His love - nothing!❤️🙏
I slept by 11 pm for four years when I was living in a quiet place rented by myself. I now live in a flat I shall own, but there is a lot of noise from some inconsiderate neighbours. The neighbourhood itself is lower class. I am really struggling to get myself to bed by 12 am max. Your tips are very useful, esp the reminder to keep oneself mentally active
I’m in that interrupted sleep decade! 😢also doing everything myself. The difference is that I am in the thick of it and currently your age, 42. It helps to see women who have come out the other end thriving.
Hello Jennifer, Liked all your Points. Thanks for your explanation on Lack of Mental Stimulation 👍 It's never too old to learn something. Like to watch your Part2. Have an Amazing Day 💐
Yours is my new favorite TH-cam channel. I love your poise and all of the information you so generously share. I also love that you’re a Christian homeschooling mama. 🙌 Thanks for sharing your story and journey with us!
These items are all true, however #2, stop constant snacking, is part of a change that brings the most visible effects. We've all seen before and after pictures of people who were overweight and have gotten their weight down to normal. They look years younger. Of course, it takes more. Cutting out sugar and high carb foods is necessary too, in order to get healthy and eliminate problems.
It’s the extra brain work I need! I know it. I have been doing the same work for quite a while, and I can do with my eyes closed. I need a new challenge.
Excellent video Audrey! I'm currently in France but I'm a rural area. I moved here, pregnant, right after COVID hit and that really hindered my ability to integrate myself here. My French is not very good, I don't have a car, and I have my now almost two-year old all day. It's really hard to find the energy (she still wakes up for milk about 3 times every night) and motivation to DO things. Even getting "ready" in the morning feels so pointless to me because I don't go anywhere, so most days I don't even get dressed for the day just hang out in the same tank top and shorts I sleep in. She does nap most afternoons for a couple hours but I usually just take that time to relax in front of the tv. I'm tired, stressed, and lonely and I don't know how to get support 😔
I live in a rural community in France, too, and felt very alone when my kids were babies. It's honestly only marginally better now that they're older, but at least school pickup helped a bit with my integration. What region are you in? I'm in Normandie.
Working on a few of these - in particular the stress and sleep aspect. Thank you for the verse from Acts - it's so simple but it's profound. I needed that one. Speaking of the the sleep segment - I love your duvet and pillows - they look sumptuous! I'd like to see a second part to this video for sure!
Excellent video, Jennifer. Thank you. I especially enjoyed the part about stress. I have had trouble with boundaries, by which I mean letting stressors into my life that could have been avoided by not engaging with certain people (especially on the internet), not watching certain shows or channels, not discussing certain topics with some people (often that means drawing the line at discussing politics with some people). We do have to be our own best friend, try to learn from our mistakes (it’s a process), and protect our mental health.
I had my first appointment with my endocrinologist since starting IF and he was amazed. He asked what I did to lose the weight and I was happy to share. My numbers are so much better. My blood pressure went down from a 150/90ish to 113/73. I need to work on sleeping better though.
YES to a part two 🙏 I turned 30 this year, and the playing field has really changed. Having two toddlers are not helping in the aging department, and all these small things help me to keep up 🙏
I have a stressful job and yesterday was particularly rough. It carried over and disturbed my sleep. This morning I watched this video and the mantra “ none of these things move me” really stuck. I repeated it all this morning, and you know what?? The stress couldn’t move me anymore. I used to repeat mantras while running but I’m no longer a runner. It never occurred to me to use a mantra in every day life. So, thank you!!
Thank you Jennifer for another great video. I am guilty of taking my laptop to bed with me when I retire for the evening. I've been trying to kick that habit for a few years now. It's a way I have to keep the loneliness feelings at bay that come from losing a husband. I too want to age gracefully so I've made many positive changes to upgrade myself and live a happier, healthy life as well.
From a terrible worrier, I remind myself God won't allow anything we and He can't handle together. We need to involve Him in our stress. Casting all your Casting all your cares upon Him because He cares cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Timely encouragement again, Jennifer. Pain from scoliosis in a brace for years, unexplained headaches in my teens and twenties then undiagnosed long term Lyme disease has wracked havoc on my health for decades. Recently, a new med and very small increase in our monthly finances has given me overall increased positive outlook for our future. Thankful to the Lord for his ongoing guidance in our lives. Julie 🌷
@@Livhappy25 sadly, my health issues are so far beyond Dr Beth’s recommendations; that was my baseline starting place 25 years ago. Thanks for your concern and sharing an idea.
Thank you for your beautiful video, Jennifer. Getting sufficient sleep is very important. I love to learn too. Audiobooks are wonderful companions during housework.
Dear Jennifer! I love your books and all your content, you helped me.a lot even though I am much older than you! You look really great, however, I would suggest to go back to your hair style you had before - maybe it’s the product you choosing now but your hair is not as voluminous as it was before- and it it still nice but kind of flat- do not take it the wrong way not criticizing just looking out for your overall look- you have long and I’m sure healthy hair but it was lighter and fuller before! Great episode, I agree with all your tips and suggest to add more movement- just walking or cleaning or jumping or dancing or swimming- it helps our spine and brain produce a strong immune system !
Moms with young kids need naps. And put a sleeping bag on the floor next to your bed for a child that is scared or sick. They can sleep more easily near you some nights.
Iv had six children and I have to say I enjoyed my 30’s the least lol. I just turned 40 and my youngest is in first grade, I enjoy life so much more. I learned to ride horses, I have goats and I’m starting my own business. I love my children but gosh, I would never want to relive the last decade or so lol. People say to put yourself first but I found that hard with very young children. You are literally their lifeguard. They could die chocking on a small toy under the table, or drown in the ocean if you turn your head or sneeze. That kind of stress does something to a mother over time. I skipped eating a lot as well and my kids would end up stealing my water bottles leaving me empty a lot. Iv learned I really need to be a bit selfish to care for myself.
I think her lack of sleep also added to the eating thing. It's totally normal to have dinner and then stay up till midnight or later and feel hungry again. We feel hungry every 3 to 4 hours. I did try the vasting thing but it just have me too many issues, being afraid of having not eating enough and then starving when I woke up. We naturally give our bodies time to digest when we sleep for 8 hours a night so I'm not really buying the 'you can't eat until 9 to be healthy' thing anymore because it made me feel miserable. But I do have friends who do it and they say they feel better and fit so I guess this is again a very personal thing that we all need to decide for ourselves.
I wake up hungry but when I think of not giving my body a break and going back to eating frequently, that didn't help me either. This has a bit of struggle but I feel better in my body. I feel like I have energy and am not constantly tired and puffy. For me the pros outweigh the cons. To each their own!
@@--jenC-- True. Now I am just eating smaller portions and not eating that many snacks as before and also mostly drinking water. There is just no time restriction to it anymore. I do see that I normally eat my dinner around 6 PM and then breakfast around 7AM (or even later when I don't have work) so I guess that's sort of fasting already? A bit :)
I enjoyed these! I totally am in the career stress of it! I watch your videos cringe with guilt sometimes because I need change in areas that I am so exhausted to fix. So definitely sleep has been a priority and scripture. Knowing that I don’t have to stress but really letting that sink in. Ready for part 2 and thank you for being consistent and making a difference Jennifer! You have always been so encouraging! I need to reread Madame Chic! 🤩

I can relate to this so much. Thank you! And you have my condolences ♥
I'm also a full time caregiver for my elderly mother who is in late stages of Alzheimer's and dementia.. homeschooling... It's rough.
Praying 🙏
As soon as I stop “grazing” on snacks, and let my stomach get hungry for meals, which makes me eat dinner in time, and then don’t eat after, I get the best sleep! And my skin looks better!
You looked beautiful “Then” too. 😊
I am 59 yo and recently finished memorizing the entire book of James. I recite it a couple times every morning before I leave for work. I was surprised I could accomplish this and I hope I can always remember it. I just subscribed. First time watching!
Great idea!!
Hi Kim, that's wonderful! I recently decided that I want to try to memorize Ephesians. Do you have any tips? How did you do it?
@@elventryst my biggest struggle was being patient with myself. Just be consistent and stay focused. Don't be overwhelmed by how much there is to memorize. Set small attainable goals.
Thanks for all your informative Videos.

🙌🏻 That is truly incredible!! How inspiring!! I may try to do the same. That would be amazing.
I'm so glad you're taking that time for yourself, Gail!
I hired a caregiver to help me care for my dad and trying to do it all for 6 months. So glad I did.
Oh this is so good to hear you doing I so wish my mum had done the same as she looked after my step dad with Parkinsons and worked full time and by the time he passed she got breast cancer from all the stress of looking after him and my grandma who lived till 99! Now I’m caring for my mum she has stage 4

Taking care of both of my parents and losing them back to back definitely aged me too. And I'm only in my 30s.
You are so right! Sleep is so important, and anyone sleep deprived is going to have a harder time “staying calm and remaining classy”.
Wonderful news!

Jennifer, I would add one more important habit that helps with aging: Protect yourself from sun damage.
Yes, prayer and scripture definitely calms stress. I also put on praise and worship music to help.
God is in control. Thank you Lord God for your love and control of this world and all things.
Put God first in Everything and Everything will fall into place. Thanks Jennifer for this video. ❤

@ NYCeeXo
I love this!
You look beautiful. You don’t look younger to me, thinner and glamorous now, still lovely then.
I have white skin-
Grey hair is beautiful! And it sounds like you will grow it in confidently, which is key!
I’m going gray gracefully as well. Now that I have lots of gray it looks like highlights.💗
I would add 6th habit: physical activity. Household chores is not enough. Walking, swimming, jogging, cycling, anything but keep moving!
So true. Bellydancing & ballet DVDs.

I did dress in pants suits for work before covid.
During covid, my company laid off 30% of their global workforce, causing me to work at least 70 hours a week.

Same here, God I miss the flavor soo much lol. But sleep is amazingly better.
I've been wondering if I should quit coffee as well. I drink mine with lots of half and half and honesly, can't drink it with less so it's not only the caffeine but the sugar in the h&h that isn't helping my weight or my sense of calm.
Very good advice!
Ah, stoicism and self-cognitive therapy are wonderful and under-appreciated.
Thank you for the advice. I'm due with my second baby. +
It does pass but for me it took about 12 years for it to pass 😂
Glad you can close that chapter. Maybe celebrate with a nice restaurant meal.
Thank you! The Scriptures are LIFE!
Have you considered another homeschool video?
Thank you so much for this video, such helpful information and perspectives on aging/stress... And thank you very much for featuring my book!! 📚❤️
Thank you, Dr. Chloe! We love your book on this channel ♥

I just ordered this book, thank you for the inspiration!
Music is a major mood/stress changer for me. I’ve created playlists for dealing with miscellaneous situations. They work very quickly. I like to listen with headphones when possible to help create my music bubble.
Prayer, meditation with God, and sex (with your spouse) are additional ways to stay young and healthy. Love your channel, Jennifer!
All 3 of those things will help your marriage be more fulfilling as well, which in turn will help you be less stressed and therefore age even better! What a positive cycle to be in!

Hi Jennifer. How do you manage when you are invited for dinner and the eating is after your eating window?

The best thing about this video is how you have related it to yourself. I too have improved in many areas of my life and one of the books I would recommend is 'polish your poise' by you! X
Some other things that age a person faster is not using sunscreen, continually looking down at a phone, tablet, what have you increases wrinkles on your neck (which can make you look older). Yes, I'd love a part 2. 😊👍🐾

Do you drink coffee while fasting? I read recently that if can damage your hormones, but I don’t think I can give up coffee!!
I’m in that interrupted sleep decade! 😢also doing everything myself. The difference is that I am in the thick of it and currently your age, 42. It helps to see women who have come out the other end thriving.

I love the house plants in your video. I’d like videos on the care and benefits of plants
I love listening to this channel when I get ready. It’s so calming and informative.
I had my first appointment with my endocrinologist since starting IF and he was amazed. He asked what I did to lose the weight and I was happy to share. My numbers are so much better. My blood pressure went down from a 150/90ish to 113/73. I need to work on sleeping better though.
Wonderful!
Great tips from a lovely lady!!
Excellent!
A very timely video which was well done leaving the viewer wanting more. Part two would be welcome. Perhaps even more parts so we could dive deeper.
From a terrible worrier, I remind myself
God won't allow anything we and He can't handle together. We need to involve Him in our stress.
Casting all your Casting all your cares upon Him because He cares cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
I’m with you!! God holds us 🙏🏼 and He knows everything 💜which is comforting!

So much excellent advice. But at almost 70 and overcoming Breast Cancer; is it too late?
Everything you share on your channel makes me feel better! You are so refreshing and calming and provide me so much peace! Thank you! ❤
Yes, part 2 please!
Moms with young kids need naps. And put a sleeping bag on the floor next to your bed for a child that is scared or sick. They can sleep more easily near you some nights.
Outstanding session. Thank you. I am struggling with stress and lack of sleep. Will implement your suggestions.
A bit :)
Love your hair!!! You should show us how you do those waves!!!
Such an important video. Definitely would enjoy a second video.
Thank you, Lady Marie!
