Does Liqui-Moly Motor Oil Saver really work? - And will it fix Oil Leaks or Oil Burning?

- After the success of the Lucas oil additives I tried in previous videos, I wanted to see if Liqui Moly's oil additive was any good. So I tried it in my oil burning Honda lawn mower, and leaky Volkswagen to find out.

From Liqui Moly website: '...Sealing first takes effect after about 600 - 800 km.'
Thanks for the video. I've never used that particular LiquiMoly product - but I do use others, as well as their oil. If the product has any component that settles in the can, you either have to shake the can until your arms fall off, or keep adding oil to what's in the bottom of the can and shaking it some more, until you get all of the stuff that settled to the bottom. I know this is true for the MoS2.
In addition to the oil, I use Ceratec and Viscoplus in the 2011 Forester.
I’d love to see videos of your Bus’s engine rebuild! Also, very cool Honda mower, those things are definitely in my list of mowers to try.
Speaking from the perspective of a small engine mechanic, The Honda HR214 is probably the best "consumer grade" lawn mower ever produced. It's outrageously overengineered.
The bus engine rebuild won't be happening any time soon, I replaced the pushrod and valve cover seals after this video was made and it's mostly stopped leaking so I'll kick the other cans down the road a bit.
A couple of things. It is more than likely the oil rings that have gone in your lawn mower so the Oil Saver will not help. The 2nd thing, the oil you are using in your VW Combi is too thick, you should be using a 5w-30 or 10w-30.
nice video, nice bus, and I use liqui moly in my 2015 ve gold TDI
I tried it in a mini cooper with the 1.6 R56 engine, valve stem oil seals have gone hard. Didn't really do anything, unfortunately
Yeah. I continued driving the VW Bus for quite some time after this video, and I didn't notice any improvement.
Some caveats...500 miles / avg speed lets say of 40mph is 12 hrs, so id shoot for 12-15 hrs of run time before calling it a day. Also, the ratio of the additive to oil should be no where near 1/3 of the total oil capacity, so that could cause damage and worse operation by having the wrong lubricating properties. It ahould be around 1/10 as stated on the bottle 300ml per 3-5 liters. 1/10 is on the higher end of concentration. With that said this has been shown to work at swelling o rings, if your issue is bad liston rings or a sealing surface thats not rubber it wont work.
There are a lot of people with the n62 bmw engine and others where valve guide seals harden and compress over time causing oil consumption where this has fixed the issue temporarily. With that said it's always better to replace old seals when feasible.
bro, can you make an update for the PlayOnMac video as it doesn't work anymore for some reason, thanks.
I haven't messed with it since the transition to Apple Silicon. I can try and take another look at it one of these days.
What was your reason for choosing a heavy oil?
Did you watch the video? Thicker oil = less smoke
