Interesting video for sure, but for me the reason is this sentence: 'One PSU didn't work and the other does. So you have to get this brand' - obviously lack of knowledge about the issue. Sticking to one brand doesn't help because you have no idea what specification of PSU/MoBo to check.
Great job explaining what you need to do to upgrade a Dell Inspiron 3650. You were very clear showing them what goes where and what parts you need to make it all work This takes me back to the days Kevin and I worked at Apple Core, computer store. We built systems from scratch....motherboards, CPU's, graphics cards, power supplies and wireless cards all that stuff. That is the problem with the mini cases everything has to be scaled down in physical size to fit it all in there.
I believe that Inspiron has the same size (240 watt) as my OptiPlex 7050. I can run 1050TI 1650 TI and eve have run 1660 Super with 120 watt draw with no issues. I have never even broken 200 watts draw at the wall I run 24gb ddr4 ram and I5_7600 processor. The dell sites will tell you it wont work, but Iv have no issue and its been over 2 years and I play games an hour or so minimum daily. I used a sata to 6 pin adapter from Amazon ($6) to give the additional power to video card and sill use stock PSU.
Thanks so much for the video! I was so concerned when I realized that the power supply (24 pin) would not fit with the motherboard (8 pin) - but that conversion cable just saved me a lot of stress!
Wow bro thank you soo much. I know I'm a few years late, but this video just saved me the expense of having to buy a new computer. Keep up the good work
I think the highest psu you can use with this unit is 600 watt. I just tried a Thermaltake 750 watt and it turned on, but the graphics card's fans would not spin nor would it post. Switched back to the Thermaltake 600 watt, works fine no problem. This is with a GTX 1660 Ti btw.
It's weird It should not matter the wattage, My500w thermaltake did not work and make the PC run but my linked 500w power supply made it work fine...just think certain ones are different and don't work maybe with that linked cable for some reason?
Honestly you're a life saver the only problem I'm having so the shipping 2-3 weeks for free 😢 and 50$ for 3-5 days 😮 I guess I'll be fine for 2 or 3 weeks but I was so happy when my power supply arrived just for it to not work 😅
Been havin trouble getting mine to work also thought about gettin a new computer or new motherboard bc i couldnt connect my psu up to it at all. Got the same set up all i needed was that adapter thanks for the link saved me a ton of money
Without modifying the case just get the industrial strength double sided tape used to hang mirrors on walls. Walmart sells it for less than $3. Apply 2 horizontal strips to the side of power supply that will contact the inner side panel of the case and on vertical strip right next to the back opening of the case. Line your sfx power supply up to the back opening and firmly push into place. That power supply will not move unless you very forcibly pull it out. Is there a more powerful card that will fit in this case ? I upgraded to a 1050ti and the power supply a year back and i’m looking for a little more power for VR.

It works you can see I hook up the PC cable up top above the fan and the 8 pin after 24 pin adapter it works perfectly. One more question I have a i5 6400 planning to buy a EVGA 400 watts can it work. I think it requires the extra connectiong to PSU since is OC. any ideas? thanks
Hi I am not sure , I know my old theraltake 500w supply would not boot up my PC only the one I shown in my video with the special cable I know for sure works .
Just got my 500 watts evga and the adapter the PCIe slot fits perfect into the card...time to test it out thanks for the video...did you had an overheating problems?
hello there sir, want to ask i have inspiron 3668, what is the max size card ? is 2-2,5 fan card can enter it ? or its just for low profile / mini type card
I've been reading every I can about this and one guy mentioned a "Mini ITX" power supply worked, he bought the 450 watt one, but I haven't tried it myself, so it's a risk. It's also more expensive, he paid $77.
can i leave the psu outside the case? i have dell 3250 and have the same problem and as i can see in the video at 1:52, the fan of gpu face the eletric wire, is that danger??
Hi i think the place I linked sells the cable to use a power supply with your 3250 you need to go there and search there web for it, and the wires by the GPU dont stay like that in my video you move them the way you want I just quickly plugged the wires in to show how you do it.
Hi, would my dell inspiron i3670 work with this? It only has the 8 pin connector and no 24 pin on the motherboard so using this adapter should work for me?? Pleade reply (using evga 600w)
Hi I am not sure, If the dell 3368 has small power supply and case like the 3650 you may be able to do it but you will probably need to get the cable i show but one pacifically made for your 3368 model.
I bought a Dell OEM 1050ti off of eBay, and installed it in one of these. It works great. It worked right away with an existing driver on the computer, but using the nVidia driver made a huge difference.
I just recently got a new GPU for my Dell 3650 which made me need a new PSU also. But for some reason the PC is not powering on when I hook up the new PSU. I have the exact same PSU as you in the video the only difference is its a EVGA 500B. I have the adapter cord for the 8pin as well. Once the 4pin and 8pin are plugged in from the GPU I get the orange LED light but nothing else happens? Can you help me please? :(
Would this make it VR ready? idk if it would now, i have a graphics card ready for it, but it can't connect with the psu, so that's why i'm here, if anyone can help that'd be great
Does this work well and will it not affect the mobo in any way negatively? Planning to do it soon, thank you. Also, you leave the PSU out of the case? No way inside it?
Hi no problems mine is working just fine, best thing I ever did to it, You need to put the PSU out side like i show with the wires exciting the box, I just leave mine in the rear of the CPU up on its side with the fan facing rearward and its fine.
Hi it's been a while but I think you need to remove the crews off the back side with the fan vent and slide it off then the front swings open, see how it looks in my video.
does this have to be the dell inspiron gaming edition becasuse i got a powwer supply and it is to big to fit in it.do you think i might just be doing it wrong
What if you dont have a graphics card to connect it to the power supply. I have a gtx 1050ti and it doesnt have a power connector. If i leave the pci cable from the power supply unconnected, will it still work?
Hi sorry I do not know, the GTX 1050Ti may work on the stock supply I think guy's used that one in the PC i show in my video without changing the supply.
Shen RC hey do you know if I can use a msi gtx 1050 ti In the dell Inspiron 3250, that particular GPU is small and I saw another video of a guy installing that into a similar system to mine. Also I think my PSU is pretty trash so would you recommend upgrading it and if so, how would I connect and install it, I have no idea.
Hi take 2 screws out of the back on the left side with the vent holes on the side when looking at PC from standing in front of it looking at dell logo on face plate the screws are on the top and bottom in the rear. then you slide the side back and pull it off, and on the back of it when you take it off there is instructions showing how to open the PC.
CommissarNinjaxFaart would not recommend it, for carpet carries static electricity. But if you touch a metal part of the computer every now and then it should be fine.

@@oreoeatsoreos9412 Hi the one I have is the shorter one fan version that one you linked with the 2 fans looks to long to fit inside the case I would stick with a shorter one fan compact version.
@@ShenRC alright thanks
Hi Im running into a problem, I bought a PNY Geforce 1050 Ti Overclocked and it requires a PCIe power cable that my PSU doesn't have. . . would I just have to change the PSU? can I use a lower watts psu? One more question I have a i5 6400 planning to buy a EVGA 400 watts can it work. I think it requires the extra connectiong to PSU since is OC. any ideas? thanks
Hi I am not sure , I know my old theraltake 500w supply would not boot up my PC only the one I shown in my video with the special cable I know for sure works .
Just got my 500 watts evga and the adapter the PCIe slot fits perfect into the card...time to test it out thanks for the video...did you had an overheating problems?
Hi none at all and my PC is up on the second floor operating some times in 80+deg temperatures! =)
Dude you got a Dell. You should have seen if they had a modular psu in that size. Then you wouldn't have had to deal with that spaghetti monster.
LOL! Thanks, I did but I need 500watts for the graphics card i don't think they have them that much power.
You can get a modular psu all the way up to 1500w off Newegg. Idk if they are the same dimensions or not, and they are a bit more vs the non modular.
Can i plug the 1070???
Do you think this would work on the new dell Inspiron 3910. I’ve looked everywhere for a adapter and non is compatible
have a solution?
hello there sir, want to ask i have inspiron 3668, what is the max size card ? is 2-2,5 fan card can enter it ? or its just for low profile / mini type card
Just use a tape measure on the inside of the case to measure the available room, then compare that to cards you are examining
can it fit inside
where is the update on this? how did you fit the PSU? can you upload new video about that shell/case thanks
Hi I show in the video that you need to run the power supply outside the case.
ohhhh only outside the case. ohhh got it hahah thanks.
btw. is there any small power supply that "Would" fit on the case like that? or just go buy on dell like another more PSU but more higher watts.?
I think there is more powerful ones but they suck compared to the big power supplies ones you can get.
I've been reading every I can about this and one guy mentioned a "Mini ITX" power supply worked, he bought the 450 watt one, but I haven't tried it myself, so it's a risk. It's also more expensive, he paid $77.
Does anyone know if an rx 580 can fit in the case ? if so which model ?
How do you install the graphics card I had trouble
if you use the 24 pin for the 8 pin how are you going to use it for the mother board
Hi just like I show in my video , It works perfectly! =)
can i leave the psu outside the case? i have dell 3250 and have the same problem
and as i can see in the video at 1:52, the fan of gpu face the eletric wire, is that danger??
Hi i think the place I linked sells the cable to use a power supply with your 3250 you need to go there and search there web for it, and the wires by the GPU dont stay like that in my video you move them the way you want I just quickly plugged the wires in to show how you do it.
Hi, would my dell inspiron i3670 work with this? It only has the 8 pin connector and no 24 pin on the motherboard so using this adapter should work for me?? Pleade reply (using evga 600w)
Hi I am not sure
do you know the power supply that oroginally came with the pc before the update
yea I think it was only 200W maybe a little more.
Are there any psu that will fit in the case that are of a adequate wattage
Hi I don't think they make them to fit inside like 500 + watts only have lower wattage ones that fit inside this PC.
I just want something that is above 350 watts
They don't make any good ones for this so you need to do what I did in my video.
I'll probably use this but could you recommend any that are over 240 watts
sorry I can't help you on this.
STOP SHOUTING! But overall the video is very good!
Does this also work for the Dell 3368?
Hi I am not sure, If the dell 3368 has small power supply and case like the 3650 you may be able to do it but you will probably need to get the cable i show but one pacifically made for your 3368 model.
I don’t have enough to get the 6gb one
Should I get the 3gb
Hi the more GB the better.
Would a gtx 1050 work on this pc without replacing the power supply
Hi Read some of the replies I think a guy said he is using one with the stock power supply.
Hey, did you ever figure out the problem? I know I'm a couple years late on this comment but is there any chance you got it working?
Hey, which version of the conversion cable should I get? There's a HD one and a standard one.
Hi get the one I linked in my description.
I did go to that link, but it asks me at the bottom what type I want.

Hi one i believe is just a heavy duty one with thicker wire and or covering It don't matter what one you use.
Hi bro, i have dell vostro i5 6400 can upgrade to i7 7700k or i7 6700k? Thank u in advance for ur feedback
How do I open up my dell inspiron 3650 side?
Hi it's been a while but I think you need to remove the crews off the back side with the fan vent and slide it off then the front swings open, see how it looks in my video.
Can the power supply handle dual graphics cards?
The stock one? it cant work with one card...and you can probably get the higher amp rated one I show above and it should be able to handle 2 cards.
How Would I Put A Gtx 1050ti in here
Hi take a look at some of the replies I think a guy uses a 1050 with the stock power supply.
does this have to be the dell inspiron gaming edition becasuse i got a powwer supply and it is to big to fit in it.do you think i might just be doing it wrong
Hi No these dells with the smaller case you need to get a adapter and put the normal big type supply outside the PC box.
ok
will it electrocute me
how did that power supply fit in ur computer
Hi it don't you need to run it outside the cpu.
What if you dont have a graphics card to connect it to the power supply. I have a gtx 1050ti and it doesnt have a power connector. If i leave the pci cable from the power supply unconnected, will it still work?
Hi if your card runs off the PC slots power ware you clip in the graphics card it should work you do not need to use all the power supply connections.
The gtx 1050 and the 1050ti don´t need extra power from the power supply. It uses the power directly from the mainboard.
Do you know which power supply works with the Dell Inspiron 3656 ?
I need a power supplie able to handle a GTX 1050Ti
Hi sorry I do not know, the GTX 1050Ti may work on the stock supply I think guy's used that one in the PC i show in my video without changing the supply.
Shen RC hey do you know if I can use a msi gtx 1050 ti In the dell Inspiron 3250, that particular GPU is small and I saw another video of a guy installing that into a similar system to mine. Also I think my PSU is pretty trash so would you recommend upgrading it and if so, how would I connect and install it, I have no idea.
Uhm... that frankinstin power supply setup is unsafe! Why not get a Corsair SFX PSU and that can fit well inside the case. Thank me later
How did you mount the psu? It won't fit in the case for me
??????? Did you watch the whole video? You need to run it outside the case it don't fit inside.
shenlonco yeah I figured it out thanks man looks a little janky but I need it to run a 1070. Appreciate the help 👍👍👍👍
yea I hear ya but the CPU runs much better so it's worth it =)
shenlonco do you know if the 3650 motherboard is atx? I might just get a cheep case and transfer the guts
It's not a standard size is's smaller.
Can you upgrade this to core i5 im just curius. Thnx in advance
Hi if you have the same but I5 model it should be able to upgrade to a bigger supply , But I am not 100% sure if this stuff will work with yours.
All the way to I7
MybalSytch All the way to i9-9900k for me !
@@brianfeuerman1732 uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thats not compatible chief
WaCC I’m on 8th gen, so it’s possible for my anyway. Of course you can’t go from 6th gen to 9th gen.
What about EVGA 500BV 80+? Can it work?
Sorry I am not sure, all I know is you need the smaller one fan sized cards.
how long does the adapter take to ship, i live in miami florida
You can find them on Amazon no doubt.
Can i use 450 watts instead of 500??
Hi I am not sure I only tested it with the model I show.
Thanks
I can't seem to open up the case of my PC. Is there a specific way / tutorial on how you did it?
I've attempted before but have had trouble being able to fully open it after taking out some screws.
Thank you!
Hey, I'm back! Could you help me again? Sorry lol. Would a GTX 1080 be able to fit by chance? Thanks in advance.
Hi not sure I am using a 1060 small version card.
Is it safe to have pc parts on a carpet?
CommissarNinjaxFaart would not recommend it, for carpet carries static electricity. But if you touch a metal part of the computer every now and then it should be fine.
hey my friend , just to know does the 1060 fits the dell ? because i bought on amazon the same power supply and its coming too a 1070 ti , and both cards have the sae size . It does ?
Hi I purchased the small version of the 1060 so if it's the same size it should fit fine.
thank you I really appreciate it
May I ask if how long did it take to ship the conversion cable? Because I heard they are from Hong Kong thanks in advance
Hi when I ordered it came pretty fast less than 5 days!
Shen RC oh really thanks again i was worried that there are no other ways to upgrade my cpu. Thank you so much 😊
Hey Shenlonco, would a full size 1060 fit? From the video it looks like there might be an extra 2 inches for it. Subbed, thanks for the vid!
Hi there is more room but I am not 100% sure a large standard graphics card would fit though.
Jacob did it fit?!?
@@miguelcanizares7522 I stuck an Asus Phoenix GTX 1060 single fan (3gb) in mine
Do all power supplies work with pc
Nope
Shen RC can you give me a cheap recommendation
Sorry I only know the one I purchased works with this PC my old 500watt one I show did not work so I can't tell you what will work other than the one I used in mine.
Shen RC okay thanks
Hello ! i have Dell İnspiron 3650 , and i want to add this computer GTX 1050Tİ . İf i buy , my pc can work?
