  • I got over why I love the ‪@Dreadbox-synths‬ Nymphes paired with a Walrus Audio Meraki and Boss DC-2W chorus. Analog Synth with analog effects !

Nice video.Great job showing this guy off. I like the reverb for precisely the reasons you don't- love the comb filtering and aliasing- I mean, specific use case for sure, but as an ambient agnostic- I'll take a metallic, clangy verb over a lush wash any day. Lol.

Great review! Not a Nymphes owner (yet) but since everyone is bitching on the reverb, I truly believe they designed it to be an extra tool to place the synth in the mix rather than have it be sounding all lush and wonderful in solo. Hence the fact that it cannot be set fully wet for instance.

Nice video! I’ve not used this guy but I love, love, love the Dreadbox Typhon…it’s definitely MY favorite small synth. This might best it if I had one!

The biggest drawback is the confusing shift/menu switching, which you demonstrated by accidentally changing things you didn't want to change in the demo. But it has a lot going for it, being so small and reasonably priced while sounding good.

    Lovely little synth actually.

Definitely agree about the missed opportunity of the Roland Boutique series. In fact I have an SE-02 which is absolutely amazing, and it really makes me wish Roland made more true analog replicas instead of the "ACB" and "Zencore" stuff they've got going. Plenty of great VST's available if you want digital recreations of analog gear but not many reasonably priced real analog synths.

Oh lord, my paycheque hates this video because I want both the Dimension C waza craft reissue and the nymphes and I'm more convinced than ever I can't live without out them any more... and im also considering switching out my novation circuit for a launchpad pro... arghhh... at least i know the walrus audio meraki is far beyond what i can reasonably justify. But this whole video has acted as a 'proof of concept' for where I've been thinking of taking my synth set up and effects chain for a while *le sigh*

Thanks for another cool video. I was really torn between the pro 800 and the nymphes when I was shopping for a synth. I went for the pro 800 because it had the display (so I could see what preset I've got loaded during gigs) and 2 more voices. But I much prefer the look of the nymphes and the company seems cool. Would love to see a pro 800 vs nymphes comparison, makes sense to me because they're similar price brackets. Also do you know if you can sync the LFO with clock?

I don’t think the lfo can be clocked synced but not sure

I got the Nymphes before the Pro 800 became available but I don't regret it. On paper the Pro 800 beats it in most areas but Nymphes is more unique and like you said, it comes from a small, independent company that seems really cool. I've got a DeepMind as well so I'm no synth snob, but I like having different and unique gear from various companies.

Regular MIDI jacks are 40+ years old, yet still THE best way to connect MIDI gear. MIDI over USB is okay for connecting to a DAW, but not DAWless rugs, and TRS MIDI is just a pain in the donkey!

Sounds great but the workflow was annoying enough for me that I returned it after a couple weeks.

Aside from the reverb (eww, it even sounded bad to me!), the Nymphes sounds fantastic. I’d be tempted if it were bigger and more knob (slider) per function and not so menu divey. I really enjoy your videos by the way. 😊

Nobody likes the reverb! I've found some good uses for it. A Strymon it ain't. It's good as an occasional effect that you just pop in every once in a while, especially if you run Nymphes thru a delay. The dreaminess of a good delay, with occasional reverb washes bubbling up from within.... It works!
