    I've been searching for ways to do a project like this with regular household items. seeing the blender take care of that plastic makes this feel very doable. thanks for the video!

      Check out Brothers Make here on TH-cam. They turn plastic into items

    I usually cut large bottles in half and half again put them in a clothing bag and wash them in washing machine. I put caps in small bags and put them in washing machine also. Use silicone baking paper when using sandwich press. Thanks for video as you gave me some ideas.
    Watch Brother's make here on TH-cam for more ideas on recycling plastic

      Thanks! The washing machine idea would streamline this process significantly.

    Freezing bottles with stubborn labels(detergent and the likes) makes peeling them easier

      Thanks! I'll try that. Some of them are a real pain to peel off.

    Can you make skating board wheel out this?

    • @davertskatediy
      @davertskatediy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It would technically be possible. But you'd need to create a mold and force the molten plastic in. That might require acquiring or building an injection molding system. Skateboard wheels are made from urethane, rather than plastic. Recycled plastic wheels are possible, but I doubt they would compare well against urethan wheels when as far as performance and wear is concerned.

    You need to use baking sheets like teflon to not deal with goo

    • @davertskatediy

      You are right, and I have done that, but I've found that if I wait for the plastic to cool before I open it, it doesn't stick anyway.

    holy microplastics, batman! i just pile all my hdpe into a toaster oven set to 360. takes longer to melt but i avoid inhalable microplastics

      Yes, or you can wear a mask.

      Try to avoid them, they're a hige enviromental issue.

    I still don't know different between LDPE and HDPE.

    • @davertskatediy
      @davertskatediy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      "LD" stands for Low Density and "HD" stand for High Density. The "PE" stands for Polyethylene. Essentially HDPE (identified by the recycling symbol "2") and LDPE (identified by the recycling symbol "4") are the same material (a form of petroleum based polymer) but one is denser than the other. I've said in the video, that the two shouldn't be mixed, but that's not to say that they won't mix. You can definitely mix the two, but if you do the density of the resulting material will be inconsistent.
