Building up speed in your music playing is helpful using a metronome.
Sometimes starting slowly and gradually increasing the speed of a metronome can help you improve not only speed but accuracy.
Try starting at a slow metronome speed and work towards your target speed, rather than trying to play fast and making more mistakes. Accuracy is far more important whether you are a total beginner, or an accomplished player.
A metronome can also get you used with playing at a constant speed, as it’s amazing how a solo player with no backing track or other person can slightly move in and out of time.
The metronome is a simple but effective way to help you improve.
