The Truth About the Cuisinart Griddler Deluxe - Model: GR-150

  • I am somewhat of a fan of the Cuisinart Griddler Deluxe - Model: GR-150 giving it a positive review for a number of reasons. The sturdy build of the unit is a plus and replacement grilling plates are available when they are eventually (inevitably) needed.
    The results I have had since owning this unit have been a very pleasant surprise. Where I usually rotate between chicken breasts, steak or pork loin chops, I have tried a number of different things from sliders to dinner crepes. Then of course it's a great machine for sausages and grilled cheeses sandwiches.
    It is my hope that anyone considering a purchase of a medium priced grilling unit like this find this video helpful. My review video descriptions will now contain affiliate links but as always my opinions on these products will always be completely honest.

    Good review, but you really need to consider two things that will make your food look and more importantly, taste better.
    1.increase the heat! You're cooking way too low! I know you said you're trying to preserve the plates, but you can always get replacements. Live a little!
    2. Don't crowd the cooking surface. Especially with vegetables so close to your meat. At this point you're basically steaming everything more than grilling.

      I can agree with your first point, when I first got into the habit of 300 degree cooking money was really tight and a new set of plates was half of the cost of the machine.
      Now things are a little different but as for your second point; permeating the soft vegetables with the steam and flavors of the meat is the point.
      In any event, I do thank you for watching and commenting and I think I am going to start cooking at higher heats now that I can afford new plates.

      @@GoldlynxRecipesandReviews wow I didn't realize how expensive the plates were. I just ordered the delonghi version of this appliance (basically the same thing). I'll definitely keep the heat thing in mind with mine so thanks to you too!

    This is a really good, no nonsense review, I'm only a minute and a half in but you've presented your experience/opinion to give you credibility and got straight into the facts, which I appreciate. Hope the rest of the review is as good as this first minute!!!

    Upper and Lower plates setting makes so much more sense. I have just been given a Griddler like your second model and am so confused as to how to know what to turn the Selector to. For instance there's Griddle the one was and Panini- Grill the other. But if you stick the waffle plates in, since they cook both top/bottom at the same time, you'd think the enclosed booklet would say panini/grill but no, it says griddle. Doesn't seem logical. What am I missing? Well maybe not much if the newer and bigger model has a more understandable design. Also I don't think mine heats up very hot so how can you grill at 300? Also my bacon did not drain well at all. However cleanup was easy enough, I will probably go back to doing bacon another way. Your video was well thought out and well done. Do you give the meat a headstart or put the veggies on at the same time?

    Just curious to know what you thought of the Griddler 5 in 1 grill? And what is the difference between the 5 in 1 and the Deluxe? Thank you.

    • @GoldlynxRecipesandReviews
      @GoldlynxRecipesandReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I simply wore my 5 in 1 Griddler out. The plates lost all of their non stick ability from using the heat settings at max too often. When it came time to replace it I was looking for something bigger.
      Size is the biggest difference between the two units but other features like the drip tray and lid height settings on the GR-150 deluxe model are nice as well.

    I decided to order this model the GR150C after watching probably 50 or more videos on the various griddlers. So I got it this morning from Amazon-site and guess what?.... It was filthy dirty!... obviously used and not even cleaned... food stuck on the grill plate... yes stuck right on the non-stick surface.... I just feel so upset now as I have to arrange for a ride in to town to send it back.

    • @GoldlynxRecipesandReviews
      @GoldlynxRecipesandReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's terrible. At least it is an Amazon purchase that can be returned but there is no excuse for sending out an item in that horrible condition.
      If it is any consolation, (when you do receive a decent unit), with proper care they last a long time.

    I found an older one at Goodwill. It only had the ridged plates. Then yesterday I went to salvation army and they had a Griddler just like mine!! They only wanted $4!! It was missing a knob but it had the smooth grates!!! Oh yeah I bought it!! Now I have a complete griddler!!! The thing heats up quick!! You have a breathing problem?

    Oh one more thing. (sorry). Don't baste your cooked meat with your leftover marinade. Once you take the meat out of the marinade, throw out the leftover. 👌

    • @GoldlynxRecipesandReviews
      @GoldlynxRecipesandReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I actually address that exact point at the 5:17 mark of the video. Whenever I use a marinade I put aside about 10% of it in a separate container from the main batch. As a former restaurant owner food safe practices get ingrained in your brain.
