Upon arriving home from a wonderful four day trip to Sedona, (8 hour drive back to San Diego), we discovered that our range was inoperable and needed to be replaced. So much for making sure we had food in the fridge when we returned! We were totally stressed knowing that it will be at least a week or so before we could have a new oven/stovetop delivered. Aafter looking on-line for a single induction hot-plate, I realized that we were covered. I've owned a Griddler for about 8 years now, but only used it for sandwiches. I realized that even though I can't cook rice or pasta on it, there is a lot I can do! Unfortunately, there aren't that many recipes on-line for the griddler, but I've gotten some great ideas from sites like this one. Tonight I'll be making shrimp quesadillas with sautéed red pepper and onion. Tomorrow... I think I'll try sautéed carrots and burgers. This is going to be fun while waiting for our new stove... now comes the hard part, picking out a new range!
Recently got one with the waffle plates. Set it to griddle, 400 degrees, cook for 5 minutes. Waffles came out perfect, no oil used at all, no sticking. Hope it holds up over time, I'm really enjoying this.
Glad I saw this video. I was going to get one until I saw the controls. I think cuisinart overthought the options for a device with one knob/button. Silly to push button/turn knob several times just to perform a function. I may look into the gr-4n. It's been around awhile but it seems to me having multiple knobs to control multiple functions makes more sense.
it refers to which side of the plates you're using: the completely flat one is the griddle side, good for pancakes (griddlecakes?), eggs, etc. The other side with the grease channels is the grill side, meant for meats, fish, etc.
@@mattdre88 seems like only the default preset: "The preset for GRILL is 400˚F and the preset for GRIDDLE is 350˚F". By the way did you get it? had the previous model and looking into getting this one now

Hi Marian, the GR-5B is our updated GR-4N and works with the same waffle plate attachments. The interface is updated to a digital display and the styling changed to more modern finishes. The temperature control for the Griddler FIVE has also been enhanced, with a range from 175 to 450 where as the GR-4N is adjustable from 200-425 using the temperature knob
Hi, our Griddler® FIVE (GR-5B) has a countdown timer and also a count-up. Our GR-5B reversible plates are grills on one side and griddles on the other for pancake, crepe, and other flat surface cooking needs. It is also compatible with optional waffle plates (GR-WAFP). Hope this helps!

okay, i was on the fence, but i'm buying one - it looked like the grease just would sit on the plates, that it has a hidden drip tray - SOLD.
We just used ours for the first time. Looking good.
Is there a way for the timer to count up without beeping every 10 seconds? Can't get it to stop beeping every 10 seconds
Leave the time setting blank OR press time setting without setting the time. Second option time will go up.
Why doesn't the instruction book or this video explain what the grill or griddle settings mean?
