Diamond and Pearl's strengths were on its legends and myths.
There's a LOT of legendaries, but they're not there for show, all of them serve a purpose in the "creation" of the world, all in a hierarchy.
Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf represent emotions, (also their names are a reference to U, ME, US, Pixie, Spirit and Elf respectively)
Dreams and Nightmares (Cresselia and Darkrai)
Shaymin and Manaphy which represent nature (skies, land and sea), in a less titanic way, unlike Groudon and Kyogre.
Registeel, Regirock, Regice and Regigigas, titans which helped shape the continents.
Dialga, Palkia and Giratina which have two functions--to represent the states of matter, solid (Steel-typing), liquid (Water-typing) and gaseous (Ghost-typing). Their other function is the order--time, space and distortion. Dialga and Palkia, by the mere fact that they LIVE, allow time and space to flow. If this were to be interrupted, that's where Giratina comes into play, to banish anything that distupts the flow of space and time to its rightful place--in chaos.
And then obviously there is Arceus, the "Alpha", which has the role of creation.

Actually, I think the lake trio is responsible for balancing things and giratina just tried to take the world for himself, so Arceus banished him
Also Dialga and Palkia resemble order (in terms of the time span of it, and the space this order controls), whilst Giratina resembles chaos and sheer instability. The Distortion Realm isn't stable and therefore cannot harbor life.
Azelf - potentially a corruption of "Ourself" - the willpower within (a little addition)

I remember casually walking through the grass and heard this theme. It was at 1AM and I had no idea what was happening. I was scared 😂😂

My first time catching Mesprit in platinum was after my dad jokingly asked to play my Pokemans game. Mans ran around and first wild he encountered was the legendary that had evaded 12 year old me for days. Man there a quick ball and caught it first try. Was absolutely unreal lmao

The startup to the music is perfection. When you encounter Mespirit by chance not expecting them at all, and you're heart stops thinking about why the music isn't playing the Wild Encounter. It perfectly portrays that you're not about to encounter anything normal.
This. I nearly had an heart attack every time I encountered mesprit because of that. I think the startup part was purposely done for that reason though, and even though I had a near death experience everytime I heard it, I think they did a really, really good job by making the startup like that.

The vibes I get from listening to this. The amounts of hours I did to catch these guys was insane but extremely worth it
see, i caught them all in alpha sapphire, but they don't roam. they just show up in the same place at different times of day if you a pokemon with full happiness in your party.
@@dezzydream It was not hard at all to find those pokemon in Gen 4. There were always in the same spot except Vesprit if I remember correctly.
BUT catching them was a nightmare. I remember trying to catch azself for over 20 hours.
Catching Legendaries is always worth it.
I remember when me and a bunch of friends would get super hyped and crowd around whoever encountered one of the lake spirits. We always knew who got one instantly because of this banger.
Dude Uxie and Azelf took me 2 years on and off to catch in Playinum because they just absolutely did not want to stay in those balls. Song brings me back to both feelings of frustration and childhood wonder at how great these games were.

That's because the little craps love to spam stat boosting moves, and stat boosts lower catch rates. A pokemon on a +6 stat boost becomes almost impossible and it was either Uxie or Azelf that had a way of +6ing TWO different stats.

Fair enough. It was also around this time the better Mystery Dungeon games came out and also when Shadows of Almia came out. I will exclude 2012 if only that is when Pokémon X and Y came out because no one thinks that is any good except when talking about Pokémon variety, Pokémon battling changes, and online connection.

I didn’t know spore existed so when I missed hypnosis I was like “well, time to try again”
I used thunder wave from raichu on the 7th attempt. On the 8th attempt, I used mean look from crobat and spam protect and ultra balls, hoping that my crobat won't faint. Caught mesprit on the 18th attempt. Before finding mesprit on the located area, I saved the game so that mesprit won't struggle to death lol.
I'm in the middle of that right now....
This game was the first Pokemon game I ever played, and boy was catching these things an experience.

So, short story here:
I was playing ORAS regularly until the legendary portals started to appear.
I decide to catch a few legends before fighting Steven, and one of them was Uxie.
I grind a bit before defeating the Elite Four with ease.
I fight Steven, who wipes my entire team almost instantly.
I send out Azelf as a last resort, and use Nasty Plot.
Azelf one-shots the rest of his team with Extrasensory.
That was the day I began to like the lake guardians.
Makes sense with azelf as it's the attacker (eyes wide open), uxie with its eyes closed is the tank, mesprit with eyes half shut is neither an outright attacker or tank.
I remember spending a whole year trying to catch Mesprit. I finally caught it with an ultra ball, then proceeded to scream and drop my ds. that was the day my ds hinges broke xD

Unfortunately, as Cyrus stated in Pokemon Platinum, the lake trio can ONLY neutralize the powers of either Dialga or Palkia, but not both of them. It's as if if he was aware of the events that occurred in both Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Version

Alright, here we go
Uxie: The first of the trio I tried to battle. I had Dialga by this point and a Honchkrow handy so I was prepared. Caught it in a Dusk Ball.
Azelf: The second of the trio and my childhood favorite. Read above, eventually caught it in an Ultra Ball with the same strategy.
Mesprit: The third of the trio and my current favorite, if it weren’t for how annoying trying to catch it is. After finding it on Route 205, then attempting to soft reset and throw Quick Balls until one caught (this didn’t work for obvious reasons), I decided to actually get a strategy and grabbed my Crobat, which I used to set up Mean Look and poison it with Poison Fang. Eventually I had to swap to avoid a fatal Future Sight, and Mesprit ran immediately.
Except when I encountered it again it was badly poisoned and on red health. A few soft resets and Quick Balls later and Mesprit was caught!
Now to be rendered immobile by the curse that says if you hurt Azelf you’ll lose the ability to move in 5 days

Azelf was my first legendary that I captured back in diamond and it was amazing in battle. Helped in facing the Cynthia nightmare.
