This might be your finest video to date. Great editing, great points made, and I really like the suggested improvements section! Re: C8, I have one by proxy since I have a Carrack. It's perfectly adequate as a companion shuttle for the Carrack but I think that it really does need at least a bed to log out on in order to be a real starter ship. What I would do for a starter/explorer variant of the C8 would be to nix both of port and starboard passenger seats. Replace one with a small, Connie-sized shoilet stall. Replace the other with a suit locker with room for one rifle-sized weapon and one pistol sized weapon. In the back, I would place a bed on one side of the 'cargo' hold and a sink/kitchenette/fold-out-chair on the other side. I do like how you shifted the components section more forward in the ship to allow for a wider entry space so I would keep that change. These changes would make the 'starter/explorer' c8 more of a solo ship but would give full amenities for living and should have enough space in the back for a couple size 3 boxes on a central grid for 2 scu of storage sitting in between the bed and the kitchenette. Swap default guns to all gimbaled bulldogs and she becomes *perfect* in my eyes.
Thank you very much, I've been working on the pacing of the video and I'm glad you noticed the effort. The variant you're suggesting is very interesting and it tickles my imagination. Now I feel that your variant should be the C8X, while the C8 could be the current C8X. I like the idea of replacing the current seats with a toilet and weapon rack, and adding a bed and kitchenette in the cargo bay. I think 1 SCU could/should still fit (on the same side of the galley). I would also add windows to make it more comfortable to live in. This is a great variant... and I wonder if I should consider a second series like "Variants Workshop", a series about creating new imaginary variants... Thanks for this interesting comment!
I really like the Pisces, it is just the perfect transport shuttle for a bigger ship (like the Carrack), it really looks and feels like a shuttlecraft from Startrek and I love it (but to be honest, I only ever watched a few episodes of Startrek, I would love to watch the old shows again some day, they always interested me way more than the newer ones) Or alternatively it is a perfect small transport van, even more than the Cutter because most transport vans don't have living quarters inside (the Cutter still looks more like van from the outside though). As always it is design over function for me, and the design of the Pisces is just extremely fitting in my opinion. Again a great review, I personally don't think it should have a bed since that would ruin the shuttle/van style a bit, but your improvement ideas are pretty nice too, carrying a small vehicle would make it so much better at its job. I personally would really like if there where some more small foldable jump seats in the cargo area (like in the Ursa rover) so you can either carry more people or some cargo.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Wow, I never noticed the similarities with the Star Trek shuttles, thanks for that! 😅 I agree that the bed is something this ship doesn't need, it's not the point of the ship. But I decided to include it in the dislikes because it's also a starter, and it's something worth considering IMO (it didn't affect the final score though). The folding seats are a great idea, congratulations. 😊👍 I definitely would have included that in the improvements as it would have made the C8X a great utility shuttle for all sorts of tasks.
As a roleplayer the hydrogen tank size doesn't really bother me, I'd yend to write itn off as more efficient military-specification engines and fuel scoops, something like the 100 series AiR system.
i really like the improved style of your reviews. hope you will make one on the reliants and how you would re-work it. it's one of my favs, even with all the issues i see with it.
As I own a Carrack Expedition, I have a C8X. I think it is a good upgrade to the C8 though I had not considered it a good starter ship. As it is a runabout or shuttle, it is superior to any of the snubs (i.e. 85x, Argo MPUV, etc.) though I agree that the improvements you recommend would help it considerably. However, the lack of a bed, as you noted, does not make it a live-aboard ship. Comparing the Anvil C8X to the MISC Reliant Kore, another multi-crew starter ship without a bed, I think the C8X is superior due to its' smaller size and cost to run even though the Kore's cargo bed is larger at 6 SCU. The Kore doesn't work as a runabout on most ships with a hanger and for its size there are better ships that fit the larger hangers. Now, is the C8X better than the Avenger Titan? No, the Titan is still the king of the starter ships for all around solo play.
Thanks for your comments, you always make me think. Yes, the lack of a bed really makes the C8X comparable to ships like the Kore (a former starter) and the Alpha, and the C8X is superior at the moment. I don't necessarily think the C8X is better than the Titan, I think you're referring to the fact that the C8X scored higher than the Titan, but in the case of my reviews, higher scores don't necessarily mean that one ship is superior to another. I think I will make a video explaining what my reviews are really about. It's more of a "digital product" score. For example, if a ship is marketed as "An old ship, one of the first with QT. A classic, but underperforming compared to newer ships", my score would be lower if that ship was actually OP instead, because the product doesn't match its lore and role. In other words, the ship's performance is a secondary consideration, always compared to the ship's intended role and lore. The main reason the Titan scored lower is that it really needs an update. I think the C8X and the Titan are very different starters, the former is a cheap "multicrew" shuttle, the latter is a true multirole starter with good combat capabilities and cargo. If I had to choose a starter for myself, I would prefer the Titan.
@@gioru5 Another point you brought up is the lack of an airlock in the C8X. This is a common and serious issue with a lot of CIG ship designs, e.g. the Hammerhead, the Terrapin, and the Valkyrie, to name a few. Of all the ship designers, Drake Interplanetary is the most likely to have proper airlocks such as on the Cutty series, the Corsair, etc. With a really small ship, such as the C8X, or in a ground vehicle such as an Ursa Rover, the Devs can argue that the pilot can use the life support to create a vacuum saving the O2 before opening to space. That wouldn't make sense in a toxic atmosphere due to pressure differences. So, I think air locks, even if it is a force shield such as station hangers use, need to be installed on all small ships.
@@istvan5674 You're right, it is indeed a big issue, and I do take it into account when giving the final score. I think some ships can be forgiven for not having a pressurized area, and those are the ones designed for hangar-to-hangar transport (100i, 300i), or the ones with living quarters where you don't expect to leave the ship (Terrapin). Otherwise, having multiple pressurized areas is essential. And I agree with you that Drake is the manufacturer more aware of this issue.

I wish I could post reviews more often, but even though I am getting faster at writing, recording VO, editing, and using Blender, it still takes time to do a proper analysis, as a ship needs to be used for at least a week to get a clear idea. @RichardMar Thank you for this comment, wow! I enjoyed it so much I had to grab some chips like I was in a movie theater 😄, I felt like I was watching an episode I didn't make. So refreshing! It would be cool to meet up in game to check out ships together, add me if you'd like (same name in game). I can't resist commenting on your comments LOL 400i I agree with your points. I have mixed feelings about this boat. I personally don't love it, but like you said, once you're on it, it feels like home. It's the ship I would choose anytime for a romantic trip. Or to spend time alone. It could even be my apartment in the game. But for some reason, I can't fall in love with it... and the X1 situation is so bad, but I'm sure they'll fix it soon. C1 Yes! Having only one entrance through the cargo bay is stupid even in a small ship like a Cutter, but it's downright criminal in a size 3 ship like the C1. Why?! It steals cargo capacity, it's not safe, and it's not practical. What if the cargo is dangerous and leaking? What if you have to disembark and just want to hide what you are carrying? I'll be honest, this could have been a 10/10 ship, but this issue is so serious that it will affect the final score A LOT... What a shame. MSR You know what? Let's just cry together 😭 🤣🤣🤣 Valkyrie This and the new San'tok.yā are the only ships I have never even tried yet. I have the upgrade ready in my hangar, but I can't use it right now because it's in the path of other ships I need to check out. Your points have really piqued my curiosity. If you can, it would be a pleasure for me to visit yours one day. Terrapin Very cool idea to use this ship as a base platform for many other roles. Yeah, why not? Hahahahahaha the red glowing chair is so scary, right? I almost panicked when I saw it for the first time and then some weird ideas came to my mind, LOL! Now seriously, the cutter... I recently bought the Rambler version... honestly, it is an insulting money grab. I was so angry when I tried it, you cannot believe the pure nonsense of that ship. It could easily be a 3/10. Redeemer hahahaha totally agree, the fridge issue should be top priority, c'mon CIG! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is the ship that makes me feel safe wherever I go. I once tried to stay outside of GrimHEX to see if anyone would dare attack it. No one LOL It will of course be my pyro choice. Ares This is the only ship so far where we might have a slightly different opinion. I agree that it's the worst dogfighter of all and that the nose is too fragile, but I also think that these ships will have a dominant role in the future. I recently watched an SC Live where a developer stated that the current dominance of light fighters will not last forever. Large ships like the Hammered, Valkyrie, 890, just can't take damage from light fighters. He literally gave an example of someone attacking a tank with a 9mm. The tank just ignores it. You need specific weapons to take down targets like that. And that's when the Ares will finally make sense. And I agree with @Avenger__One when he envisions a rock-paper-scissors combat scenario where: Big ships -> Light fighters -> Bombers (and Ares I add) -> Big ships .. and so on 85X Let's just start a fan club 🤣 Now seriously, you made me think when you said "kind of doesn't fit the Origin style". I think you are right, and the same can be said for the X1 and the M50. I think CIG should make a move like Mirai/MISC. The 85X, M50 and X1 could be a sub-brand of Origin to serve the UEE Advocacy. In fact, these three vehicles could easily used by police/patrol forces. Imagine 85X, X1, M50 police variants. I would go nuts for them.
That's true, you are right. I guess I should have mentioned that in the video, thanks for pointing that out. Anyway, the 1 SCU boxes will cost 2K, with this method you can have them for free. It's still a plus, even if it's not that "life changing".

It's always interesting with the addition of some lore. Salute to you sir.
hahahaha thank you 😂 But now you made me want to know, what is your opinion? Sharing ideas about ships is really the main reason I started this channel, so I would really appreciate if you would share your ideas 😋
Yes, it's a bit of a stretch. But recently tractor beams have been buffed and you can move a PTV with a simple pyro tool. So I imagine you go into the crew area, bring the PTV in with the tractor beam, and do the same to get out. Thank you for reaching out :)
These re conceptualizations are pure gold. CIG needs to see this before they go about getting the Pisces to actual gold standard ! 👍

- The cargo hold is only meant for vehicles, so you can't haul cargo atm... that's all ^^ and the fact there is no use case for this ship ingame right now beside the fact it can transport an ROC :D
• Terrapin - I just spawn it once a day and look at it, go inside, fly around New Babbage, and then I get another ship like the C1 and actually play the game... ^^
+ Little brother of the sexy sister Valkyrie; looks beautiful and without having to worry about anything when flying it or sitting inside this ship. It's the best possible base model for many other variants. Seriously, why the Cutter? They could use the Terrapin for other variants like a medic one or bounty with cages or so many other roles that were possible.
- The internal lighting and the chair in the middle... the first time I saw this ship was on Daymar when somebody left it at a bunker at night. I came close, went up the ramp, and then there was this chair. Scenes from SAW and Hostel played in front of my inner eye, and I got goosebumps, thinking somebody will knock me out, and I wake up naked in this chair, and a sick individual is torturing me with hot metal and waterboarding me with CRUZ XD.
• Redeemer - Was also on my list, but I didn't copy and paste it in the first one above :D, I don't have it ingame or in my hangar; it's too expensive XD
+ Unique look, can take a punch, hits harder than Thor's hammer when fully crewed, spacious and comfy inside. The origin of the ship is from The Next Great Starship Show.
- The main thrusters make no sense somehow. Where is the pumping action of the shields of my boii???? They are supposed to move like a pump. Why don't they move or don't move anymore? and one gamebreaking bug! Everytime you go in qunatum or do some action all the stuff in the refrigerator is mixed up :D
• Ares Inferno and Ion - Personally, I haven't gotten used to them.
+ The looks... hello?! The mega PEWPEW on the wing and the other with a massive BRRRRRRRRT, how cool is that?
- I can finish 90% of the Ares pilots with a 125a, hell, even with my 85X or even maybe with an Cutter, it's easy... the Ares is not meant for dogfighting and is one of the worst PVP ships in-game so far. Also, the whole ship is fragile like... seriously, this is not how it's supposed to be, CIG... do something!
• 85X - My shuttle everywhere I go; I just can't live in the Verse without the 85X!
+ It's whroooooming fast, 4 gimbled Size 1 pewpews make so much fun! The second seat in the cockpit! The size is so small it can fit in your pocket... if you were a big-ass giant :D haha.
- It needs love from CIG... it feels old and untouched and doesn't fit the Origin style somehow, really feels like it was released same time with the Conni... Give me paints for this ship! WTF? Not even a single Skin for that ship in the Verse...
I can't resist commenting on your comments LOL
400i
I agree with your points.
C1
Yes!
MSR
You know what? Let's just cry together 😭
🤣🤣🤣
Valkyrie
This and the new San'tok.yā are the only ships I have never even tried yet.
I have the upgrade ready in my hangar, but I can't use it right now because it's in the path of other ships I need to check out.
Your points have really piqued my curiosity. If you can, it would be a pleasure for me to visit yours one day.
Terrapin
Very cool idea to use this ship as a base platform for many other roles.
Redeemer
hahahaha totally agree, the fridge issue should be top priority, c'mon CIG! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is the ship that makes me feel safe wherever I go. I once tried to stay outside of GrimHEX to see if anyone would dare attack it.
No one LOL
It will of course be my pyro choice.
Ares
This is the only ship so far where we might have a slightly different opinion.
And I agree with @Avenger__One when he envisions a rock-paper-scissors combat scenario where:
Big ships -> Light fighters -> Bombers (and Ares I add) -> Big ships .. and so on
85X
Let's just start a fan club 🤣
Now seriously, you made me think when you said "kind of doesn't fit the Origin style".
You can get up to 8scu boxes from cargo decks 🙂
Yes since 3.22 you are right. 😀
Nice review!!
Thank you so much! 😊
we dont need to make boxes anymore in 3.22. because you have cargo boxes you can buy now and you can store your gear in it
That's true, you are right.
I guess I should have mentioned that in the video, thanks for pointing that out.
Anyway, the 1 SCU boxes will cost 2K, with this method you can have them for free. It's still a plus, even if it's not that "life changing".
@@gioru5 It can make a difference to a player just starting, and even if it doesn't it's still something that's good to know. Reviewing the Rescue one next would be great. Thank you for sharing your content with the community, it's always informative, well narrated, background music is great with perfect volume to not interfere with your speaking and most importantly... It's always interesting with the addition of some lore. Salute to you sir.
Thank you so much! :)
Yes, I agree that more information are always good for new players... especially in a complex game like SC
I love the C8X. How about the Spirit, Freelancer, and Vanguard?
I'm gonna review all of them 😊👍
though I dont share same views, I had to subscribe with this editing and funny accent
hahahaha thank you 😂
But now you made me want to know, what is your opinion?
Sharing ideas about ships is really the main reason I started this channel, so I would really appreciate if you would share your ideas 😋
Well done! You have a great voice for it.
Thank you very much 😊
i love your videos
Thank you very much 😊
Don’t know how you expect to leave the ship with a vehicle in the cargo area. No wiggle room but I do like your idea. Hope CIG sees this video.
Yes, it's a bit of a stretch. But recently tractor beams have been buffed and you can move a PTV with a simple pyro tool. So I imagine you go into the crew area, bring the PTV in with the tractor beam, and do the same to get out.
Thank you for reaching out :)
