ROTM is finally here! It's an amazing quest and the boss fights were very enjoyable.
This is a video of me fighting the boss(es) during the quest with some basic tips for those who may struggle with it.

11 years later and this video still gets me rock hard everytime. This was truly the peak of runescape right here.
Peak was when osrs was released with no ge or godwars or any additional updates. People got spoiled in the post-2007 updates. Normal people can’t play games 24/7 anymore
@@matthewmaxwell2408people in 2004 to 2007 were most of the original new gamers. Those gamers grew up and spent less time playing. All games not just runescape got easier

+Taylor McKevitt Yeah, except for the fact that it was polluted by bots, rwt and dicing. Those 3 things severely fucked up an otherwise great era.
+RSmatthewdj9 but now it's filled with jagex-supported RWT and its lost all originality that it had in previous versions

I finished this quest about a day before EoC, and man, it was so sick. I loved that boss fight because it was truly difficult and epic. It felt so amazing when I finally managed to defeat it. Something tells me it would be an absolute cakewalk now .-.
Yeah agreed man, deffinitely better before the new combat system.

As a 138 pre-eoc that has done this quest and then did it again on my pure, I can tell you it's pretty much easy in both pre-eoc and eoc.
I always come back to this video to relive the hype
Coming back to this video in 2020 makes me Rs2 much more. Rs3 is fun for pvm, but we won't ever get this feeling again.

And what, pray tell, makes EoC so bad? The fact that it made combat not dull? The fact that it makes you actually take a semi-active role in combat? Is that really so terrible?
dragoniguana Well, first of all we all have our own opinions and tastes, just like me and you, I don't really like EOC, maybe you do, and I'm not judging the fact that anyone like EOC or not, secondly , I just don't like EoC ( not because of the things you said ), it's not the same anymore, I prefered Rs before, it was more original, that's it. I don't qualify Eoc as terrible, not hating it either..

Oh yeah, so runescape basically turned there game into a carbon copy of every other MMO except with shittier graphics.
Old rs combat may have been dull. but it was runescape. Now it's just WoWscape.
That, and no-one plays minigames anymore. Now you have to join a specific FC, unlike in the past, when you could walk to clanwars and there are like 6-8 "clans" warring each other. Or Soulwars, it used to be packed too.
Barbarian Assault is dead.
Pest Control is dead
Even castle wars is mostly dead. I bought a bond with the gp I had on my old account just to play CW and only managed to find ONE game in an entire 2 week membership. This game used to be fun, even though training is grinding. Now the only thing to do IS grind. No more fun times.
BattleDonkey Runescape is FAR from that pathetic unoriginal game you call "WoW", no matter how much it starts functioning like it. And Runescape isn't dead, there are still people playing it, including me. I'm TIRED of having people whine and complain like the ungrateful losers they are. Just accept the game for what it is. Runescape will always be Runescape

@xlazmlx Yes for both. If you die in the middle of any of the fights, your gravestone is at the entrance to the ritual site, where you attached the rope. Also, you have to fight that one fight from the start. But your progress is saved after every fight.

I wish they would make 2011 version of Runescape playable too... Would be fun, as this is the time when I joined the game and I have always felt like it was the most fun at this point. Completing Rotm after eoc was a breeze, it didn't feel as epic as it did during the release year.

@RDino9 "Sliske" is a mahjarrat, sliske is also the traveler from the barrows story that gave them their powers and effectively made them his slaves basically.
watching avengers endgame final battle reminded me of this fight
Arrav part always gets me. Old zombified defender of Varrock holding off the main character and the barrows brothers all at once.
Eoc is enjoyable, but they REALLY need to buff quest bosses. I mean it seems like they gave everything next to no lifepoints and no real damage output. Just look at the balance elemental......used to be a difficult fight for lower levels, but now it has less hp than a jungle spider.....I just dont understand the balance or reasoning behind that.
Even now, two years later, this remains true. Pest queen used to be one of the longest quest bosses, took forever to take her down, and it was *supposed* to feel like that. She's a monstrosity after all. And now we get mortal enemies teaming up to defeat something that can be killed in under a minute. Really sad.

my all time favorite quest and boss fight.. 2011 was a fun time, hope this quest and some others like while guthix sleeps come to oldschool.

Yes, Lucien the sneaky bastard and at that point in time, the mightiest Mahjarrat having the stone of jas and armadyl staff in his possession.
Sliske wouldn't dare challenge that Lucien.
Depends on where you entered the ritual site from, if north entrance than its the place close of below the fortress, if you enter up the rope near the cave from tale of muspah then its right in front of the rope
07scape sucks just as much as EoCscape, 2008-2012 were golden.

Yea, but the damage has basically been done already. I do play oldschool, but I miss the 2009-2010 version the most. The only people who still played in 2011 were the "hardcore" pkers and the "noxpwaste" people. Even on oldschool, it's horribly rare to meet a cool person who doesn't flame you for your methods.

@sosolid2kk Just something you might want to let viewers know, is that you can actually draw the ice demons away from lucien if they get trapped there like that by just running to the south east or south west corners of the fight area, it will give people a little more space to see the lucien missile coming.
Cant wait to do this quest, I got 3 left till quest cape and I might save this for last, seems the coolest and best way to end it

On the luring Arrav part, make sure to dismiss your familiar because he might follow you then he'll stop and get back to fighting the barrows bros.

@mrsilvid That old man walking around digging at barrows is the mahjarrat who controls the barrow brothers and summons them to his aid in battle.

i have to agree, this quest was amazing! the cutscenes were well-animated. lots of detail to the storyline, the buildup to the quest was a very fun ride!
in my personal opinion this very quest was wy they created runescape!

wow i just did this quest with 12 sharks range void with ruby bolts and a fire titan, (same inv from start to finish), i accidentally started the last fight or i wouldav geared but i did it anyway xD

@J4mbroz You can actually click to tele out of the zone during the text, but you would have to tele back and forth to bank.

@Conkerdeath Because the Mahjarrat have to sacrifise one of their own to regain their strength. Sliske, who is a Mahjarrat, controls the barrows brothers and is helping you beat Lucien.

@Conkerdeath One of the good Zaro's followers casted a spell on the brothers, turning them into the ghosts they are. He summoned them to help.

Watched this many times great music and epic boss fight
the quest was hard but the boss fights was super easy with drygore weapons. and there is also a pattern to lucien's skull attack so it was easy to avoid.
Love the whole runescape story lines some funny, some got tones of fights, some give great rewards

When you click to attack Lucien, he yells "You dare attack a god?", then he sends one of those skull bolts at you, hitting you for 400 damage. Attacked him 3 times, exactly 400 damage at each.

If you tired to attack him then you were told that you weren't able to as someone else was holding him off.
Been a while since i've done this but i think it was THE best quest ever, great storyline, great fights, didn't even mind it's length, i don't know if it was a glitch or not but terrorbird was hitting 900+'s...
