In this video I have to weld nuts on the heads of some bolts in order to remove them and get this failing final drive out of a Yanmar B27 mini excavator.
Hey Austin, I have the same problem with my Mitsubishi excavator. The drive was very hot and no oil, I washed the the gears with varsol and them fresh oil true the oil port . Not sure if there are any damages in the gears as I cannot see them. I am hoping that it ok and the previous owner just forget to put some oil. Will be looking for your next video in case I also have to replace it. Good lock
@@captaincrunch1949 I ended up having to replace the final drive. Unfortunately, the dirt that entered the planetary gears just destroyed the bearings and entire assembly inside
@@budgetbuilds5722 Hi Austin, Just a follow-up, I too had to replace the final drive because someone forgot a washer on one of the planetary gear. The bearing slowly came out and crushed the teets of the other gears.
Hey man I'm looking into getting the exact same mini, how do you like so far??... My biggest worry is getting parts for it since its a 'grey market' machine. I also would want to plumb in a hydraulic thumb, do you know if there are additional ports on the pump?
It is a great little machine. Doesn't have a lot of power compared to new machines but it does well. Works great for tight spots and digging small footers and things of that nature. When it comes to repairs it isn't terribly difficult to find parts but sometimes it can be expensive due to it being a grey market machine. The final drive is about 2K to replace. I don't own the machine it is a friends machine but in the 8 or so years he's had it there has been very few issues. Adding a hydraulic thumb isn't too hard. The machine has three hydraulic pumps that feed a main valve block. I believe on this machine you have to unplug a port on that valve block that then feeds a downstream valve that you have to place somewhere. Then plumb in another line from the valve to the tank return. Then you'll have two lines that feed a double acting cylinder on the thumb. If you do a manual valve you have to have physical access to it to actuate it but if you use a solenoid valve you can just control it with an electric switch that you put in the joystick. There is plenty of room under the seat to put another valve body and the plumbing. I would watch some videos about open vs closed circuit hydraulic systems, gear pumps, and plumbing valves in a series to get yourself familiar. Hydraulics is pretty straightforward but it can be dangerous, you're dealing with high pressures. Hydraulic injection and parts failures are no joke! I hope that helps though, and if you need a manual there are some decent ones on eBay that give you schematics of the machine.
