I worked at Jigokudani monkey park for 3 months researching their behaviour, and studied macaques in Japan for a year. I made some friends with guides at the park and others, and apparently monkeys had been spotted in completely different areas of Nagano bathing in peoples private hot springs, super far from the park. No one had them tagged so they weren't sure whether they were monkeys from the park or just random monkeys that had discovered the behaviour on their own, but nonetheless interesting. Japanese macaques do have a lot of interesting cultural behaviours; bathing, food washing, stone handling. Also, if you get the chance to go study in Japan for whatever reason, don't hesitate, it's amazing

I actually did a presentation for my Japanese class a few days ago about JP's train culutre, and touched on Doai station. It's really cool to see Chris and Connor visit there
Chris, my former Tokyo International University colleagues and I have a story about that terrifying train station. We all took a hike up Tanigawa and almost died. We should have known this would be the result when our trip started at that Station from Hell which was even creepier in 2018 when we were there. There were no kawaii items in the station, just dread. And oh btw there's a monument to all those who have died on Tanigawa not far from that train station. 😰
While you two were floundering around in bottomless snowdrifts, Sharla and her friend were visiting Nara, where the sakura were in full bloom and they didn't even need coats.

I think this is one of my favorite videos. I'd love to go to see the sake vending machines and the monkeys in the mountains in winter. All of the snow falling was beautiful
FYI, this video's demonetized for unknown reasons - please give Chris your support by giving this whole thing a watch!
EDIT: The TH-cam demon has reconsidered and re-monetized the video...but don't you just wanna watch some monkeys?
It got monetized 😀
Or head over to Patreon and enjoy lots of behind the scenes videos. You can cancel after one month if you need to, so it doesn't need to cost more than 2 dollars.
No ads on it for me still 😢
he re-edited it so now its monetised again.
@Dawid B Bot.
Connor looks really peaceful sitting and watching the monkeys, love that particular shot you took Chris. Keep it up!
Love the part when he says "We see ourselves in them. It's a beautiful sight" as you see a monkey biting the shit out of another monkey
At some point in elementary school, we all had that one kid in class 😂
Except the one in my kindergarten class went for ears with scissors 😳
I've never been so close to crying just from watching a trip video. Lived in mountains since being born, but this is just breathtaking. I love every aspect of it, the station, restaurant, hot springs, sake. I can guarantee You, this video made me decide on visiting Japan one day. Thank You very much, the work done here is awesome!
I actually did a presentation for my Japanese class a few days ago about JP's train culutre, and touched on Doai station. It's really cool to see Chris and Connor visit there
I’m sorry but I’m gonna have to bellyflop into that thicc snow wall
6:55 didn’t expect gojo to be there
6:34 nobody is talking about this gojo art omg
These wacky weekends are getting better and better every episode
I love how Connor basically wears the exact same jumper in every Wacky Weekend video!
He wears the same shirts and jumpers on his streams too. Guy just doesn't have that many clothes I guess.
@@norasyikinali6283 Seems like Connor deserved "Laziest drip" more than Chris then!
Going to do a video on it?
As a Canadian, I laughed the whole time as Connor slid around in sneakers and seeing Brits trying to maneuver such a snowy place
As a Tyrolean, I feel you
Chris looked heart broken when Connor referred to him as his “friend” 🥺💔 friend zone forever
He got revenge in the Saki bit.
Well they are British, so that's likely sarcasm. Or it's genuine, which is likely unforgivable.
Connor is a tsundere as always.
More like Chris's heart knows no friendship and hes like "huh I have a friend"?
Chris commentary : "We can see human behavior in these monkeys, truly beautiful"
Connor commentary : "As you can see this inn has beds"
bruh😂
i jsut love these 2 together, they make such a wholesome team. always glad to see both of em having fun exploring and shit. keep it up chris!
What an incredible amount of snow! The monkeys are so cute! Thank you for taking us with you.
While you two were floundering around in bottomless snowdrifts, Sharla and her friend were visiting Nara, where the sakura were in full bloom and they didn't even need coats.
7:50, started expecting Dr Jelly to save the day
Chris I’ve been following for years and years, and you introduced me to Connor with wacky weekend when you two first started, I’ve been binging Connor’s stuff for a few months now, and I’m just in love with this whole series now that I “know” both of you separately! Seems everyone else agreed this is the best series, hope you both keep doing this for a while longer!!
Love the monkeys, which is the best part seeing Connor react to them!
Had to turn my AC extra cold to have that bit of extra immersion. I definitely have to recreate that trip once the borders reopen (minus the train station workout). Thanks for another brilliant video Chris - keep up the good work and don't stop enjoying what you do.
Chris, this is probably among the highest quality Japan travel videos ever made! Well done!!
Those comfy snowy towns with the sake bar and hot springs look like heaven. Fantastic.
