The best plot twist, didn't see it coming 😂
I loved the contrast of Pete's American enthusiasm and Chris' dry English sarcasm. Also, Pete's impersonation of Chris was spot on!
Chris: The Spirit of England
Pete: The Spirit of America
Chris and Pete might as well be Yin and Yang.
I absolutely love this duo. I want more collab with Pete.
Spirit of USA or "Murica" because America is a continent, like Europe, like Asia, like Africa....
@@n1hondude to be fair to Swier3D, Pete does actually seem to embody the excitedly joyous journeymanship that the countries of America stand for, historically... :)
(but also the whole continental genocide thing, he *does* strike me as a psychopathic murderer of millions (jk))
@@regnhyld at one point he was definitely channeling Jack Torrance in The Shining LOL
i seriously think this is chris's best video not only due to editing and presentation, but the hilarious chemistry between chris and peter. i've rewatched this video so many times.
5:28 Chris sounds like that one kid who doesn't want to be on a family vacation and would much rather be at home.
Because displaying too much enthusiasm about anything is NOT the Broad way, apparently. 😆
If you want to see Chris enthusiastic, just dangle a piece of fried chicken in front of his face. He would probably cry tears of happiness 😋
That duo just works the script soooo goood.
Most satisfying.
"Are we there yet?!" 😆😂
Correct. Broadly speaking.
If Abroad in Japan ever has a series finale, the big reveal will be that Chris Broad is actually being forced to make these videos against his will, by a Kumamon mascot with an aluminum bat.
that would be brilliant!! hope he does make a video about these mascots
Today, on Abroad in Japan:
Pete gets plastered,
Natsuki realizes a small mistake,
And Chris contemplates booting his mate off a cliff at the northernmost tip of Japan.
I read this in Clarkson's voice.
EPIC
After reading: * Top Gear intro intensifies *
I make a pilgrimage to this video every once in a while. Chris's subtle, yet menacing gaze of absolute fury and astonishment when Natsuki says he doesn't know where he bought the mug is easily the greatest part of any Abroad in Japan video.
I think we all need a American friend like that to make us look more British lol
I know even as an American Pete sounded ultra American in this
And I need a British friend who will take me on road trips. Is there an application form I need to fill out? Or an app? Swipe left/right to choose your American/British travel buddy?
I am English, my sister lived in Japan for like 3 years, her English accent is now extremely pronounced somehow. So much so that it shocked me
@@666m111 I notice that sometimes why is it people who live abroad somehow become more British lol
@@saiaku-sama6543 I don't know lol,
Absolutely stunning scenery!
The beautiful snow and scenery in Hokkaido looks like it should belong in a slice of life anime
Oya
Hi
I've seen your comment before 😹
I am convinced that I am going to see you everywhere till the end of my life...
it does, read/watch silver spoon
Holy cow, that Hokkaido is beautiful in winter.
That scene with sea pillars was breathtaking.
30 minutes of beautiful, documentary style video road trip all based off of a bad Japanese pun.
I love this channel.
Someone should livestream that rock 24/7 so we can all see it fall when the ocean reclaims it. I’m very curious how much longer it will last. Amazingly cool to see it
Chris doesn't only think of chicken. In fact he is often thinking of new and creative ways to insult Ryotaro.
The most southern, and western and eastern points of Japan sound like great episodes from a wonderful series, the first installment of which we had the pleasure of experiencing in this video.
Please make it a series!
This video really highlights Chris’s filmmaking passion, letting Pete host half of the show and still maintain the abroad in Japan vibe.
That Wakkanai pun, genius. They even made Chris angry lol
Love how "excited" Chris for the entire journey. Chris' British aura is showing xD
The first place my brain when when I heard Wakkanai was "wakaranai Wakkanai"... So yeah, I was a little surprised when that pretty much happened.
Chris: "Where the bloody hell are we?"
Pete: "Wakkanai"
lol
I was just thinking the same thing lmao
27:00 I am watching this video in Sep '24, a bit more than 3 years after the upload of this video. Pete now almost has 190k followers on his twitch channel.
Quite the incredible feat. Well played Sir.
"Try to be a little more excited, please!"
That is the most American thing ever. Americans are always so excited and positive.
🤣 Spend a day with my family.
It depends. Some of us, yes. Others, not so much.
-American
The Yabbyman - true and they are lovely qualities, aren't they, in this grim old world? ?
@@jhawkins8264 Definitely, but I imagine that it could be quite difficult to live under the pressure of always seeming excited. Personally, I use superlatives (along with words like "awesome" and "amazing") pretty seldom. I would probably be perceived as socially inapt if I moved to the states.
Live in NY or Boston
I am not used to hearing american accents anymore from watching Chris and his buds, so it really caught me off guard for some reason
Are you a yank lad?
Same here!
Chris is English not American
@@slackandlack377 he's referring to Pete
Thanks to Pete and Natsuki, I’ll never forget how to say “I don’t know” in Japanese now
I just thought the same thing! Now, I’m guaranteed to know at least one Japanese phrase... Back to studying. 😆😳😔
The second most useful phrase comes from Natsuki the Man himself, "やばい"
god i rly just thank chris for introducing us to pete this man is a hidden gem
My mom:
“Come tell everyone hello”
Abroad: _uploads_
Me: no I don’t think I will
SUPRISE! I am the funniest YTer evah!!!! Just kidding, it was no surprise. Everybody knew already. HAHAHHAHA!!!! That was an amazing joke (it was real talk though). WAWAWAWAWA!!!! Good afternoon, dear gamee
same with me, but with my homework
I just make sure nothing comes between me and Chris' video. I just sit in front of my laptop 24/7 and do nothing but wait. Occasionally my boyfriend feeds me and changes my adult diapers 😁

I'm just imagining the possibilities to be had when greeting someone from Wakkanai.
"Hi, where are you from?"
"Wakkanai"
"What do you mean you don't know?"
I love how excited Pete is in comparison to the British Bruce Wayne
To be fair, Pete's family wasn't (to my knowledge) gunned down in an alley. =^[.]^=
@@RaycheetahYou're right, instead he's more like Kark Clent. Unleashing his true power by opening a ramen package in the middle of a snowy field.
Dude i love Pete, it's great that he's getting more recognition
“Look at that rock Chris!!!!”
“..yes...”
“Have you ever seen something like that?!?!?”
“no..”
“Try to be a little more excited please.”
This video feels like something you'd see from late 2000s/early 2010s comedy films, you've got beautiful cinematography and banters between both MCs all in one 🤣
Their chemistry is so on point
Definite Due Date vibes lol
Natsuki: send Chris & Pete on a pointless journey...
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!
JUSTICE DELICIOUS

Thank you for your channel, since childhood I have always dreamed of going to Japan and your videos have reinforced my love for this country. Thank you for positivity, great sense of humor, they are helping me get through this pandemic!
"A film about a band of idiots going on a journey that ultimately ends in massive disappointment, why does that sound eerily familiar?" This man's humour is on point
The foreshadowing is great

Wait fuck i missed the wizard of oz part

This has got to be feel like one of the most professionally documentary-like productions yet. The drone footage is just impeccable this time, holy smokerinos. You've outdone yourself, Chris!
The sharpness of the Buddha statue from the ground though. X-T4 with 16mm F1.4 vibes
Natsuki's got some serious competition, didn't think an american would be such an intersting addition to Chris's dry witty british humor
