Yes. It was very interesting to listen to her perspective. I completely agree with the point that we need to cut China off at the root. To bring back manufacturing of all types to not only bring back jobs but in times of Covid, we cannot rely on China. How can we as individuals do more to move in this direction? @Philip Nguyen Well, one thing I don't like this video is the fact obedience to teacher and parents is idea passed down by Confucian thousands years ago, it's part of culture, not from CCP. CCP certainly does some injustice, but blaming something they didn't do is just not right. Truth is truth, I need to correct that. Second I just think this channel only expose negative side, you all need to see what argument the pro-china channel have and at least listen arguments from both side to gather full information before making judgement.

@@Geoduct123 yeah, China is not transparent, then how do you think Serpienza got all his top secret and information on China (since China is not tranparent, is Serpienza's information credible, where did he get his source? the thing is, since most of you only get to know China through his channel, he basically can say what ever he wants). Anyway I digress. You don't have to know the top secret to understand this channel is bias. All you need is simply a semester as exchange student in china. Many university have study abroad program. Just apply then you can go to China.

As a child of Chinese immigrants, I can confirm that a lot of this is true. It's frustrating. They never think about stuff and question things, they just accept it as truth. When I question back the reasoning for this and that - they see it as being closed minded because I'm thinking back. What I cannot take in, is that nobody in China (except perhaps the students who have traveled the world) are willing to give their lives in the fight for their own countries future. Everybody seems to be thinking only of themselves, and their immediate family. I hope I would fight and even die for my great """ great grand daughter's freedom (or move out of there as soon as possible, which I guess many have done) as my great great """ grand father did in our own civil war. I think arrogance was a factor. With the breakup of the USSR, America/ the West thought communist countries would open up when they saw the trappings of democracy, freedom of speech and free market.
This doesn't mean countries in the West don't have some traits of communism. Banking would be an example, they are protected by governments, often at the detriment of the citizens. This is also a deeper and more complex problem of the way governments/ the economy/ and banking are intertwined, it's much more palatable for a high number of individuals to go bankrupt, than even a tiny drop in growth. Inflation is really just a river for wealth to flow from individuals to the banks (It costs money to store savings in a bank with essentially zero interest).
Went a little off track there, hopefully it wasn't just a rant. But who doesn't enjoy a little rant once in a while? 😉

@D Theresa That's true (let's not talk about IBM [US] in WWII). On the flip side, it's only been a little over 60 years (75 if you want to be exact) since the end of WWII yet any animosity between the allies & Germany & Japan has long since been dropped (there's that Back to the Future 1985 reference that "all the best stuff's made in Japan"). China has gone the opposite way to Japan. instead, they've moved backwards and now look more like 1930's Germany. As a Brit!🙄 With a keen interest in WWII seeing the way China is acting now (this exploded [wrong term] on the 75 anniversary of the closure of Auzwhitz) the parallels between them are pretty terrifying: 1# Concentration camps, check! 2# Burning Books, check! 3# Growing nationalism/ hatred, Check! #4 Seizing foreign territories, Check! (With HK (HK is gone, claiming township of territory everywhere, and if they thought they could take Taiwan they would!), #5 CCP is acting like the SS secret police, Check! - That's just off the top of my head!
I believe Jinping is more dangerous than Hitler. Hitler gets a lot of stick, but he wasn't a total 6astard/ psychopath as he dispised chemical/ biological weapons (he had them, and so did the allies...), but there was some sense of a gentleman agreement in place. An unspoken treaty if you will.
Before WWII broke out there was never this level of aggregation. I believe a lot of this growing aggression is because they're getting desperate ("appear strong when you are weak, appear weak when you are strong" - paraphrasing Sun Tzu, they wrote the book on military strategy), and desperate people do desperate things. That's before we add communism to the mix.
      That's my take on things...

I am a Chinese born and raised but I left before Winston came to China. I left at the end of JIang Zemin's reign, 2002. Back then propaganda was there but was not extreme as it is now. As far as I can recall the CCP was pretty mild in foreign politics. But there were a lot of war stories being taught in school in favour of the CCP. One of them is about 5 red army soldiers holding off hundreds of Japanese soldier from the top of a mountain and another one is the "infamous" 雷锋. Can't say everything was bad with the Chinese education system, but I do have to agree with that is being said in the video. It just beats the individualism and critical thinking straight out of your ass. When I say beat it out of you, I mean literally. I have had fair share of beating by the teachers because I didn't agree with them.
The funny thing is, as after I came to the west, and was able to easily access all the information I wanted the Chinese propaganda being exercised seems just like house of cards, fragile. I think closing off China from accessing western media is the best thing CCP can do for itself and the worst thing they have done to the Chinese people.

However, from secondary school, I entered a state-run one (ironically because of my outstanding academic performance) and I was severely bullied for three years because of my bluntness, to the extent that I couldn't speak in front of more than 3 persons. I left China in high school and slowly rebuilt my confidence since then. If you are educated in a Western way, you will be more outspoken and stright forward with your thoughts. CNN is a liberal-centrist outlet; in fact some of their favorite guests are moderate Republicans 9hardly Marxist firebrands). Don lemon is an ex-Republican. Opposition to Donald Trump does not equal communism. Indeed it was Trump who praised Xi as a 'great leader'. He did not hesitate to invest in the USSR during the 1980s, which also showed them up as not-so very communist after all.
Anyway, eternal salvation is not determined by partisan loyalty.
It says that 'if you confess with your mouth jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved' (Romans 10:9).
Unfortunately, loyalty to the CCP is NOT compatible with salvation, and it's pretty obvious why. Following the CCP to the end can only assure one of a place in hell. Yet God is willing to forgive the repentant sinner.

I teach Chinese kids for a living and yeah, I tend to agree, they seem to be completely incapable of critical thinking or questioning anything. I don't ask them to criticize the CCP or anything like that, but I will ask them what their opinions on certain subjects are and they always give either the same answer, or the answer they think *I* want to hear. It's sad when I go day after day doing the exact same thing with these kids and I can never really get them to tell me how they *really* feel about anything. American kids never shut up, they'll tell you how they feel about every little thing on the planet, changing their minds often, but Chinese kids always have this sort of pre-programmed answer in mind and that's pretty much it. I often wish I could get through to them to get them to think more in-depth about subjects, but I realize that I'm up against their *entire* schooling system and constantly being trained *against* the sort of dialogue that I seek to establish. And I don't want to overgeneralise stuffs, but the general public in China, I mean in Mainland PRC, are also pretty evil. (Disclaimer: I never mean ALL! I have good friends who are in it from China as well, as there are always exceptions to the norm.). They are not purposely evil overall, but they have been poisoned with the very simple single value: money! Have you heard of the tens of cases a year at least that drivers would reverse the car to hit the person again if (s)he was already knocked on the ground and fell unconscious! It was simply because of MONEY! The law says that the driver needs to pay for the medical cost of the injured, so they chose to kill the person to avoid that probably large amount of compensation needed! You should get what I mean here…
So you can see, Mainlanders only concern about money. In that way, they wouldn't care about what the government is doing, and would become very easy to be controlled!
With that guiding principle in their minds, except the very few extraordinary and 'outcast' people, nothing is important except money, and nothing is more important than wealth! And that's why you have seen those far-below-standard dangerous constructions and infrastructures, those poisonous baby formula milk products (not only ONCE, but MULTIPLE TIMES for God's sake!!! 🙈).
We have to realise that not only the CCP Government is evil, but its people, at large, have been indoctrinated and trained to be heartless, for the easy control by CCP.
SO, when we say that Chinese from PRC are doing this or that damages to the civilised western world, we have to be very clear that not only CCP is the wicked giant, but unfortunately the Chinese people, although as victims of brainwashing themselves, have been commiting the bad stuffs themselves.
And who suffer most after all?!
We other Asians! Because in the eye of Westerners, they can't easily distinguish us just by seeing our appearances, and not only Hongkongers, but also Japanese, Koreans, Vietnamese alike, have been thought to be Chinese, and sometimes discrimination or even bullying happened.
We plead for a better understanding of the differences between Asians, and hopefully people can really get to know the person first before deciding whether (s)he is a brainwashed Chinese (usually a little pink) or not.

I teach them too (in an international high school for PRC citizens). Personally, I think it is more that they are taught to carefully consider how their actions, thoughts, and words will benefit them (either financially or give them guanxi) in a system totally different from the west. Giving your views more often than not does not result in favorable outcomes for them personally. It's more like they are afraid they will be denied limited resources by being too demanding or standing out. But to be fair, both you and I are generalizing.
Everything seems to be about money and personal glory, rather than morality and "living a life according to your values" like we have been taught to do.
Honestly, I talk to their parents though, If I were them, I'd be scared to challenge them too. Most of my parents rule with an iron fist and aren't afraid to emotionally damage their kids if they think doing so will result in them getting a high paying job after college. Plus every school that isn't 100 percent international has to have certain mandatory subjects, like Chinese Political Science. They have to take an exam to get a Chinese HS diploma and politics is on that test, just like it is on GaoKao. Every politics teacher I've met was a stuck up asshole who will do whatever they can to point out how blameless the government is and how fucked up the US is. I don't get into arguments over stupid shit with brainwashed co-workers though, so I just try to teach my own students the truth, if they are capable of understanding it, and try to move on with my life. It's a pretty good paycheck and soon I'll have enough to buy a house and leave China. Besides, a lot of my kids walk away with a less skewed version of history and global politics, even if I am not teaching those subjects. I'm proud of helping the kids that care enough to learn from me over the years.

My brother supports the CCP, when I argue with him, he says that I was brainwashed by the Western media, well I said that I think the Chinese people were the ones brainwashed he said that I was distorting the truth, then I argued back saying that at least here I have free speech and I can say whatever I want without going out to "drink tea" with the police. So after that he started insulting me, arguing with arguments that make no sense, he is also an ultra nationalist and he says that the democracy in Western countries is fake and we are being braiwashed.
Well I think I will let him be...

I live in a fairly rural, mostly agrarian, state here in the US and I see A LOT of Chinese people but never out and about. My small city has a few Chinese-style restaurants and the staff is primarily Chinese with differing levels of English proficiency. There are some beauty and nail salons run by Chinese immigrants as well as massage, chiropractic and acupuncturists. I recently went to hospital and saw a group (dozen or so) of Chinese people being given a tour with a translator. However, we never see these Chinese people out in the community. I never see them shopping in the stores. I never see them in the parks. I've never seen their kids in schools other than University. I've never seen any attempt to integrate or mingle within the community. Even in University, the few Chinese students there seem very unwilling, or at least hesitant, to socialize, at all, with non-Chinese students.

Very interesting interview. As someone who has not lived in China but who follows the media and has (at least in my own opinion) a certain amount of common sense, I could not agree more. I would definately like to hear more from your guest. She seems very competent and very experienced about China. So, yes, I would love you to have her as a guest in future videos/audios.
Although I already told how I appreciate your channel in an older comment, I want to add: Your channel is a very rare and valuable thing because there are not many people who have such an inside view into the Chinese society, who speak the language and who have actually lived their everyday life in China for such a long time. Your statements have weight and I am thankful that you take all the negatives that come along with it and still make the problems public. At the time mainly problems, but people forget how you also praised the positive sides of China and how you love China and it's people - why in the world would you have lived in China for so long if you wouldn't like it's people. But of course, once you put your finger on a foul spot, it oozes out and all the good things you said are immediatley kind of forgotten. That's sad but that's how things seem to function. Voices like yours are making the difference. I have become an intense follower of your channel (and Cmilks and Vivi's - whom I both found via your videos). Thumbs up and keep on going.
