(My analysis, this was a fun video awesome content as usual)
ModMic Wireless - The sound quality of this mic was shocking, to be honest. The audio through both my speakers and headset sounded excellent, unmatched by any wireless mic I've heard to date.
HyperX Cloud Flight - This mic instantly made me think of an "am radio broadcast" and potentially the worst overall.
Corsair HS70 - A bit better than the previous mic, it sounded far away or muffled reminding me of being on the phone with someone and them having me on speaker phone.
Razer Thresher Ultimate - Nearly a polar opposite of the previous mic, it came across as louder and seemed to pick up more bass in your voice than previous mics. Reminds me of playing online with that friend we all have that we have to repeatedly tell to stop swallowing his mic.
Logitech G933 - All treble with a muffled sound. Sounds like they used the audio effect from the Poltergeist when Carolann was trapped on the other side.
Logitech G Pro - Close to if not matching the quality of the ModMic wireless. A bit louder leaving reason to believe it may be more sensitive.
Sennheiser GSP 300 - Very similar to the previous with a little more bass and slightly less clarity. Very solid sound overall.
Steelseries Arctis Pro - No truly noticeable difference from the HS70.
Sennheiser PC 37X - Similar to the GSP 300 and Log G Pro almost as if to be the best of both.
ModMic 4.0 - Clean and clear but a lot of treble intensifying the sound of S's to a nearly annoying extent.
ModMic 5.0 - Best of the bunch. Cristal clear with a natural sound and great treble to bass ratio. I think I'm going to look into purchasing this mic.

almost exactly what I thought too! My second favourite is the GSP 300 (probably because I'm a Sennheiser fanboy), but the definite winner is the ModMic 5, no competition

I agree that the Mod Mic 5.0 sounds the best, but the price!!! The Logitech G Pro sounds EXTREMELY similar, costs $20 less, and is an amazing headset overall.

It's a tight race at the top among a few models, but I would say that the ModMic 5.0 sounds the best by far. It's really clean, full and warm, sounds almost like the shotgun mic, I'm really impressed!
Only the Logitech G Pro was close to the Antlions when it came to Microphone quality, the rest were awefull and distorted the heck out of his voice. Why is the performance gap so massive?
Edit: I'm not saying the ModMic is perfect, heck, I own the 5.0, the "noise suppression" switch is somewhat loose, leading to dead audio when it slips to the middle, and the included mute switch module started causing a audible squealing after the first year of regular use, but the audio clarity with even a cheap $10 USB DAC or (heavens forbid) on-board audio, its professional and clean to the point I can sing Bing Crosby songs over Discord with it and it doesn't distort or clip (unlike his microphone, heh heh heh.)

@@KiraSlith In my subjective opinion the Modmic 5.0 was best by a long shot, but the Sennheiser GSP300 was next best followed by the PC37X. The G Pro, Modmic 4.0, and Modmic Wireless were slightly worse than the 5.0 and Sennheiser headset mics, but better than any other microphones in the roundup by a long shot.

One year ago and still no answer. I had the modmic 5 and it sounded like ass, nothing like this. Returned it.

Yeah, but considering the noise reduction system on the Sennheiser is top class, Sennheiser goes to #1. I've seen videos from the MODMIC 5.. They don't heavy a great noise reduction system on the MODMIC 5 (i mean if they even have). When typing the keyboard the MODMIC shows everything like there's no noise reduction.. The sennheiser eliminates 70% of the clicks.. ANd still sounds PERFECT. It's top class microphone, MODMIC cant beat them.
This was amazing, just what I was looking for. Props to the recording style and production, keep it up!

Honorable mention to the Razer Thresher. A little muffled sounding but it beat out some of the wired offerings.
Yeah but he's on a complete silent environment.. If using for gaming in a noisy environment... I've tested the Sennheiser, the microphone doesnt capture any noise but your voice, incredible.. And the amazing sound from the sennheiser is from a heavy noise reduction system.. MOD MIC 5.0 doesnt have almost no noise reduction that usually makes the sound a lot compressed and ugly.. But sennheiser does that and sounding perfectly clear.
So i'd go with Sennheiser for sure. It's probably the best microfone on the market by miles.

Dimitri, you forgot to mention the cheaper more convenient alternative to the Modmic non-wireless with basically equal audio quality, the V-Moda Boom Pro inline microphone/cable.

The only problem with the boom pro is that you need headphones with a detachable 3,5mm cable.

The Logitech G Pro and Modmic Wireless sounded really good, but I would personally still go with the Modmic 5 as it comes with a cable extension and a cable wrap to keep the headphone and mic wires together.

Have been looking into audiophile headphones primarily for gaming while occasionally listening to music. I am one of those upgrading from a gaming headset with a $200 budget. From my research, Sennheiser's HD6xx and HD58x Jubilee, AKG's k7xx, Beyerdynamic dt990 Pro and the HiFiMan HE-4xx have looked the most promising. From playing many FPS games, sound-stage and imaging seem to be important and I would love to hear your input, as you have had the privilege to listen to most of these cans. What are your setting for the G pro please (Realtek, window settings)?

When all i want is the headset with the highest audio quality and best mic quality possible. and when i thought the astro a40 4th gens and astro a50s were the best sound, i picked up steel series arctis pro with game dac and autopmatically noticed a difference after using astros for years. now in terms of mic quality everyone always said my astros mic was ass and now some people saying my steel series headset mic is ass so its kind of annoying dishing out alot of cash and not getting the best quality possible. All i want is Performance. Idc about comfort

Honestly I love how you give quick transitions of mic samples. It is too often you hear endorsement driven reviews where they tell you what you sound like rather than show you. I also recommend Sennheiser for their excellent voice clarity and generally lower cost for those that spent their money on so many other must haves for gaming these days. I also recommend looking in to other Sennheiser products tailored toward call centers. This generally produces lower sound quality in terms of not hearing every footstep from a mile away yet it sounds crisp for as low as $10 - $25 (PC 3 - PC 8).
oooohh to say that people are always on razer, i was quite suprised by that mic quality
razer isn't bad but its boomy and that's about it. So they make ok headsets for gaming is all don't use them outside of that just like most of the other headsets. The seinhesier you could because they are just amazing headphones.

To sum it up : buy Logitech G Pro or Sennheiser GSP 300 or Sennheiser PC 37X. Everything else is expensive or bad quality.

The wired mod mic 5.0 was the most outstanding one that I could hear personally. And then from there. down was in this order. . (2) Wireless : Razor Thresher Ultimate. (3) Wired Logitech G Pro. (4) Mod Mic. Wireless. (5) Is tied for Sennheiser PC 37X and Mod Mic. 4.0 . Sound identical. (6) Is what ever was left over from what I didn't mention. My opinion.

The problem with Wireless it's the battery for me, it is often a battery owner to the mark. If he does not manufacture it anymore, bye bye the device.
And we must constantly monitor them constantly so that it does not discharge completely at the risk of destroying them.

I still chew my shoe cause I could've bought the GSP 300 but at the shop I forgot the model (and thought poorly cause of its appearance) and bought the HyperX Cloud X (Xbox One version).
Sennheiser game one has the best included mic ive ever heard on a headset.

I bought the Logitech G230 two years ago for 50€ and I don't know why, but it has an amazing mic for its price. It sounds like the G Pro. Friends of mine have bought headsets for 150€ but everyone on discord keeps telling me that my voice sounds the best. I love this headset :D

The best sounds came from the Modmic. but actual headset wise, the Sennheisers and Logitech G pro sounded great. Also, why no love for Astro headsets? I have a pair of A40 TR and I enjoy them a lot and have been complimented on mic sound quality a few times. Either way, good video.
I would recommend other budget headsets for mic quality first: Roccat NOZ (almost as great as Khan series), Cooler Master MH-751.
The mic of HyperX, SteelSeries and Corsair is often reviewed for good noise handling but they all sounds terrible in fact.

I got so fed up with ‘gaming’ mics that I switched to the Blue Snowball Ice, got it for about £40 and man, what a difference. I use it on a boom arm, it’s convenient, sounds superb, and fits my white setup beautifully.

I think it's useful to point out that headset which have a removable mic (such as the Corsair HS70) can use the wired version of the mod mics plugged directly into the headset and not your computer. Great video!

Great video. It's not on the list but I'm super happy with my Steelseries Arctis 7. I wanted something wireless that wasn't going to break the bank. I'm sure there are others with better sound quality but so far I have no complaints with it.

Definitely, a really interesting solution the Mod Mic 5 but I'd go with ModMic 5.0
