The melancholy in this music is undeniable. Finzi had much sorrow in his life, losing several brothers and friends in World War l and I believe it reflects in his music, so sad and so full of yearning. He died young, of Hodgkins Disease, and knowing he was dying must have weighed heavily on his heart.

@@foki92 You are right. Finzi was also a fruit grower when he wasn't composing he had a lot of fruit trees, orchards.
