The true hallmark of how amazing this show is: I am trying to just watch one episode a week and follow along with the pod, and all of a sudden I am way deep into season 2. I can’t stopppp. Once we get there, all I want Mae to talk about is how incredibly hot the Riggins protecting Julie storyline is - tornado + helping her at party. I can’t handle how hot it is.
My question is for Zach. Since you have said you taught Aimee how to drive, were you still teaching her when she went driving with both Kyle and Connie in the next episode?
I have loved rewatching this show for the podcast so much I've actually gone and watched all of season 2 and the first episode of season 3! Can't wait till we get into stuff with Smash later this season. As for intros I don't skip that would be One Tree Hill, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and of course FNL!
I'm submitting this episode to whatever is the Emmy equivalent for podcasts because that whole pants conversation is comedic gold. 😄 Question for Mae: what are your predictions for the astrological signs of the main characters? I'm guessing Coach is a Taurus, Smash is a Leo, and Saracen is a Libra . . . because he loves art and listens to Bob Dylan. 🤣 Finally shout out to Gilford for sticking up for Julie who really was awful this episode but the girl is going through some things. Yaaaaay for Minka!
Has Katims ever mentioned why Momma Smash and family wasn't in season 4 or 5, momma Smash would have had a major arch in the Becky pregnancy storyline... And Smash's younger sisters: Sheila & Noanie would they have attended Dillion or East Dillion s4 & 5?
I totally agree w/Scott on the Tammy-Julie situation. Julie is acting like a spoiled brat. Understandably she’s upset about all the changes but that doesn’t excuse her disrespectful behavior. Tammy is a dang good mom. Julie needed a dose of reality/perspective. She acted like she had it so bad.
Love the podcast! You all mentioned before that season 2 was impacted by the writers strike. When in the timeline of writing/filming did that occur? What impact if any do you think it may have had on the second season?
Y’all are a great trio and love this podcast! But, why has the view changed? Why is Mae no longer in the studio with y’all because the first few episodes with the round table View was great! Such great chemistry between all three of you in the same room. Keep it up!
Landry's dad is so shocked instantly about Tyra because he does not see his son as her type and so I think he's assuming that she's trying to take advantage of him in some way for another reason. So I don't think it's that he's questioning what they were doing, I think it's more than he's questioning her for her motives.
My burning question! How do Herc and Street get their chairs in and out of the bed of Street’s truck? How do they get into a vehicle that is semi lifted from their chairs? Thanks, love you guys!
Thanks for the great podcast! My season 2 question is your thoughts surrounding the idea of how hard it is for any team to win back to back championships and if you thought this was something the show was trying to get across in a way. That is the feeling I got when watching this season and would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!
So, my take on Tami's slap is that Julie wants to play like an adult, so she's going to treat her as such. But then Julie plays like the girl she is (not little girl like Zach says) and we see the damage it does. I'm new to the podcast but it would be fun to have some rankings at some point: best characters, worst characters, best local cameos, best music. p.s. how about the interesting coincidence of season two getting shut down due to the writer's strike and now we're in another writer's strike. Can you touch on that in a future episode? What's it like for strikes to impact the work of a show, a movie, etc.
#tandry is a great couple name. I saw the interaction with Officer Clark differently - I mean, have you seen Tyra? As much as you love your own kids, you also have eyes to who is out of who’s league. I really took it as him wondering why she’s bothering with his son and if there’s maybe an underlying reason for it. I never thought he was investigating a crime. Also, can someone please tell me how old Billy and Tim are supposed to be? I have now watched this series 4 times and I am no more clear on it now than when I first watched.
I have to agree with this! I think Officer Clark realizes that Tyra is out of his league and it is confusing! But they are sooooo sweet together! I love the fact that Tyra understands what a gem Landry is!
QUESTION: was "Lance" scripted or was that kyle ? Ive noticed in other fnl interviews kyle often gets names mixed up. Either way, its my favorite thing in the entire series! I lol every time it's said, each time I rewatch the series.
Tell you something Jason, you're not the mascot as McGregor called you, you're a legit coach, and Coach Taylor should've asked you to come back to the staff
Oh I wholeheartedly disagree with your guy's take on Tami being wrong about Julie being ridiculous. There is nuance, Julie is going through a lot and she's a teenage girl for sure. Violence wasn't the answer, I'm not justifying that, but Julie is 100% invalid when we've seen Tami do her best and include her and Julie is going out of her way to make a hormonal post-partum mother's life worse. Tami has not been myopic and only focused on Gracie. Super pregnant Tami was showing up at the pool trying to spend time with her daughter, has been asking Julie about the her boyfriend and new crush while Julie shuts her out, has asked Julie to stay in for the evening, has asked if she wants to spend time with her and Gracie... all while essentially being a single mom to a newborn who she has to feed hourly while missing her husband she's been apart from for the first time and dealing with her teen daughter going through a moody phase. Julie is being so incredibly selfish - as you guys have noted with Matt and it's worse with Tami imo. I've never been a mother, but I have been a teen girl and being a teenager isn't an excuse for how ignorant and self centred Julie is being.
I have to agree with Scott on the whole Julie / Tami argument / slap issue. Julie has every right to feel like her family is different right now and have struggles. But she's being a straight up brat. She absolutely should be helping her mother and contributing to her household. She's a kid, but she's 16. She's not a toddler or something. Every household needs family members to work together and help it run smoothly. Tami has a brand new baby and she shouldn't be expected to do everything. That's so old school. She's postpartum and no one seems to give a shit about her mental health and workload (inside and outside the home). Sorry, but Julie needs to get over herself and help. Grow up.
Question: Great podcast, guys! I am from Germany and my question might have an obvious answer to those who know Texas. That being said, I always wondered how many inhabitants is Dillon supposed to have and how many different curches, including Laylas new giant church, are in this town? Who are all these people in Laylas church, are they also coming to the games? Is this normal for small Texan citys?
Being in Texas there are probably churches on every corner haha even in a small town there are at least a few churches of different denomination. And yes even those people are probably going to games
General question: what is the plan for season 4 and 5? Will some of the actors from those seasons join you? Curious since your characters weren’t featured in those seasons Tell your mom I said hi - Coach T
My question to Zach and Scott is about football : Is it normal that a QB1 who won the title in his sophomore year, go to playoff in his junior year, and play receiver and QB with an incredible 2nd half in final during his senior year has not receive any proposition from a college? I think that writers here make a mistake with Matt who deserve to go to college with a football sholarship.
I don’t know if julie deserved the slap but she deserved to be yanked out of that car & locked in her room for a long time. Julie was so out of line. As a mom of teens myself, I totally empathized w/Tammy.
Carlotta and Matt are gross, I actually don’t understand the ship. If this was a male and teen girl people would freak out lol and spoiler… she takes his virginity even more wrong. Ugh I hate season 2 lol
I've always wondered why they school didn't promote from within. The assistant coach deserve to be the head coach instead of McGregor. I imagine the actor that plays McGregor is a great guy off camera, but the coach is such a prick.
Friday Night Lights. One of the GOATS in TV series.
I didn't watch the series finale for 6 years after FNL ended. I couldn't accept it was over and watching the finale made it real.
That pants chat had me crying with laughter 🤣Happy Birthday for tomorrow Scott!

The open credits I never skip is Psych. I love Season 8 where they show Dule screaming. Lol
Good podcast episode keep up the good work y’all 😎💪🏾
Certain intros you can just never skip, for me it’s GoT, Breaking Bad, & Community lol gotta let those intros play!
Agreed!
I have opening music of fnl as my ring tone all these years later.
I made the FNL intro as my ringtone sometime in s3, have kept it since! (4 phone upgrades since 2009)

Enjoy the podcast recap. My question is, was the road trip and scenes in Mexico actually filmed in Mexico?
Y’all are a great trio and love this podcast! But, why has the view changed? Why is Mae no longer in the studio with y’all because the first few episodes with the round table View was great! Such great chemistry between all three of you in the same room. Keep it up!
Scott is such a nerd...love it lol
I love him so much
Did you have a fantasy football league among the cast and crew of FNL and if so, who was the best at it?
Landry's dad is so shocked instantly about Tyra because he does not see his son as her type and so I think he's assuming that she's trying to take advantage of him in some way for another reason. So I don't think it's that he's questioning what they were doing, I think it's more than he's questioning her for her motives.

I say this every time I watch this

Zach, you are my favorite, but that hoodie is giving me Cincinnati Bengals vibes and I can't take it!
WhoDey baby!!

The correct answer for show that you never skip the opening credits on streaming is Peacemaker.

#Tandry for life
Merch?
😂😂 I always skip intros when bingeing never GOT lol and nope not the sopranos. FNL though yeah skip but in my defense I’ve seen them live lol
Carlotta and Matt are gross, I actually don’t understand the ship. If this was a male and teen girl people would freak out lol and spoiler… she takes his virginity even more wrong. Ugh I hate season 2 lol
you and i can be co-captains of this anti-ship. from time to time i skip ahead to season 3 and assure myself that it's going to be ok.
@@FirstGenNation 🤣🤣🤣 me too!!!! Lol 😂
Mae, why don't you join them in the studio it's distracting when it cuts to your video feed and sort of seems like you are phoning it in?
#tandry 🎉
Tawdry Tandry

Tyra was the definition of a narcissist 😂
Gosh I really wish Mae would stop saying “like” .. ugh. So distracting.
