This Podcast series is a delight. One thing I'd never realised was just how different the delivered dialogue was vs the script - so so much better. The "pregnancy announcement" dialogue, in the show, was wonderful. His response wasn't anything you could imagine anyone else saying, but it was completely true to Coach's dry way of expressing himself.
Zach was ripping this episode! I loved it. He was so talkative and it was great.
Also, the scene where Tami tells Coach she's pregnant is my favorite part of season 1. When he laughs, tells her he loves her and grabs her face. So damn perfect.

Please do a full season 1 recap for next week, and Scott read the script, the behind the scenes stuff of what was written and what actually makes the show is always great.
You all are amazing in this podcast.
You could do a whole episode on the scenes around Tami's pregnancy. The one in the clinic with Mama Smash ("Do you want to be pregnant?") and the scene where she tells Coach were just perfection.
Just to confirm your theory. Yes some people are still finding the show all these years later. I just completed my first watch last week. Absolutely loved the series and was very emotional when I finished.
I'm looking forward to the review of season 2. Season 1 is quite clearly a much more consistent season and provided an incredibly solid foundation for the story.
Obviously they made some mistakes in writing season two (i think we all know what I am referring to) but because they threw so much shit at the wall some scenes landed hard e.g. Matt Saracen's everyone leaves me scene, Smashes pre-game team talk, etc. There is some A-tier FNL content burried in that season.
P.S Loving the pod and the insights it provides. Keep up the good work!
I am so addicted to this podcast! I hope ya'll do all five seasons. Scott, Zach, and Mae are so awesome!
Ehhhh...I can do without Mae. She's hardly ever in the studio. Plus, she claims to be a superfan, but she hasn't even watched the last two seasons. They should get someone who is an actual fan of the entire show and not just Tim Riggins.
I am soooo anxious about them not getting through all of the seasons!

@@ubranlion Which would make sense. Most actors do not watch what they are in.
That reveal at the end of Tyra murdering her attacker was very interesting! It seems like they were using that storyline as a plot device to strengthen a relationship between Tyra and someone. The question is who was it going to be? Tyra or Landry? In the end, if they were going to pursue this storyline, it made more sense for Landry to be the one she grew closer to because he was the one that was there that night. But, knowing what the original intent was, I would have liked to have seen the alternate version filmed just to see it play out, but only as a deleted scene or something. Either way, that storyline wasn't great and was an example of the writers taking what made the show great and getting a little carried away.

I remember when my high school went to state, it was so exciting and being in a real stadium where our NFL team played was so amazing. I always laugh though because we did not fill a 60,000 capacity stadium like them 😂😂😂😂😂

I love how in an earlier episode they talk about how Crowley got cast and his character (love him!), but I would love to hear more about Spivey and his actor 💕

I like the murder story line as a vehicle to explore Tyra and Landry and their evolving relationship.
I watched every episode when they originally aired ... I bought the Season 1 DVD the day it came out ... and I have never watched any of them ... because as much as I love the show it was really hard to watch sometimes. Most likely the common thread was the pain of seeing good people put through really hard times. But, it was and is first rate drama. Thank you for the podcast.

Also, life long football (go Browns!) fan, and while I’ve always known it was a lateral play, it wasn’t until listening to this episode, that I learned the play isn’t actually called a “hook and ladder “
Scott what did the script say about coach explaining what the meaning of “ clear eyes full hearts can’t lose”?
Looking for recaps of Seasons 4 and 5, also very interesting story lines, especially where Coach Taylor shows what he can do with all young men.
I’m currently binging this show on Netflix! I started it years ago and then fell off and Joe I’m totally committed. On season 2 now.
Season 1 is gold. Love it. Season 2 needs work.
Scott is such a good host of this podcast. Keeps it moving, allows the other to have their input when they want to rant, but always seems to have it under control. And he really knows the show. Is Zack drunk/stoned? Zac is definitely zooming. ... Mae just needs to go away. Not that I care, but Mae got an "f-bomb" through when talking about Grandma Saracen. ... I did find some new respect for Mae. It appears she has an Easy Rider photo -- with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper -- over her right shoulder.
The podcast would be so much better without her.

I know multiple families who the father is a head coach and goes a year or more living away from the family until their children graduate and their wife can join them.

Its also an American football reference, usually referring to the crowd as the 12th member of the team. The Texas A&M football stadium is nicknamed "home of the 12th man".
Season 1 is the best season
First, some thoughts about State: I didn't love the finale, either. It was uncharacteristically cheesy, especially Matt's slow clap. That was soooo Afterschool Special. I also don't like how Voodoo is a villain. He's an incredibly flat character made tolerable only by the great acting of Aldis Hodge. The writers defaulted to stereotypes there, especially by pitting him against Smash. The season three and five finales are sooo much better. (Season three is perfect)
And to the three of you: great job overall! You're generally firing on all cylinders. A few thoughts as you move into season two: Scott has to be a bit more balanced in terms of what gets covered. Some times the episodes lean more toward his precious moments + Tyra, while other storylines are overlooked. Less re-enacting of scenes, please. More guests! Those have been some of the best episodes. And I'm glad that Zach is speaking up more. May that continue because Matt is about to undergo some important character development next season, and I want to hear his thoughts about them and why Matt and Car-low-ta was a terrible idea.
Yes loved all the seasons. At first not so much the new characters in last two seasons without Landry. But got into it with east Dillon lions. But loved and the ending with Connie finally getting her dream job. Coach coaching new team. Clear eyes. Crickets. He says well get to that. My favorite show ever. Love the pod cast!!
So your idea of a perfect ending is Dillon lost? 😅😂😂 There are 5 season there have to be at least one where they win
