    I think a lot of 40k folks are too focused on the competitve side of the hobby. I like the shift in support for narrative and promoting the other aspects of the hobby.
    Personally, I'm most annoyed that they released the tyranid index cards and already changed them after two months. They could be good guys and offer exchanges for players that bought them. It makes me not want to bother buying the books at all.

    There's a correction here about crusher stampede making carnifexes better - it's a sad state where it doesn't really, especially when running in units of multiple carnifexes. They're better in invasion fleet.

    • @vaettra1589
      @vaettra1589 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Monsters are better in Invasion Fleet, Vanguard Onslaught and Synaptic Nexus, than the dedicated monster detachment. Which is sad and lame.

    I was really hoping Shadow in the Warp would see some changes or an all out replacement. It's just not very good. Maybe if it were a little more reliable or something.

    • @RepKyle95
      @RepKyle95 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, it should have been an aura, not a once per game thing.

    • @effindave6909
      @effindave6909 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RepKyle95 Yeah, it needs... something. I'd be ok with less powerful but more reliable. Right now it's great when it works but it's very hard to set up.

    • @RepKyle95
      @RepKyle95 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @effindave6909 Honestly Battle Shock isn't big enough of a deal to make it really matter anyways most of the time, and most units you WANT to fail Battle Shock have low enough Ld to not really care even if you force a roll.
      It should have been an aura of 12" that causes psychic powers to cause a mortal wound to the caster on rolls of 1 to hit, and +1Ld to enemy units. Synapse should also allow Tyranids to ignore Battle Shock, rather than just roll on 3D6 and drop the lowest. 9th edition codex had it right with Tyranids getting additional benefits from being in Synapse range, rather than it being basically a "tax" that makes most units worse without it.

    Cool video guys, really gets you thinking.
    *Question:* When using Precision on a target, i the attacker get to choose if i want to target a Charakter or rather kill bodyguards. But what happens to the dmg left over, after the Charakter died? And if it´s lost, could you splitfire/punch precision weapons to make sure not to lose out on any dmg?

    • @miniwargaming
      @miniwargaming  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can choose. Any leftover damage goes to the unit.

    Melee horrible in 10th ed. As i'm building assault intercessors while listening to this. yeah that about figures. Good thing i'm so slow by time the army is ready we'll be playing 11th ed. I have missed these book reviews. I hope to get more, but i'm guessing it will only be when one of the creators is really passionate about an army and GW gives them the stuff early enough.

    • @owenhouck5281
      @owenhouck5281 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s just not as good as it was in 9th. Assault Intercessors still have a use, especially on objectives. Their new ability to have full rerolls to wound while in range of objectives while also having an OC characteristic of 2 means that they can act as some really good bullies on objectives, more so if they can get delivered a lot closer with a transport.

    i just wish Shadow in the warp would have gone away i hate this thing i have played quite a few games now and never enjoyed it its just way to situational and gimmicky they could have given us anything else and i think i would have enjoyed it more.
    its also sad that Biovores/Pyrovores are not getting their stat changed whit their massive model change.
    also Steve is a coward in War games but its ok we still think he is nice still a coward thou

    The codexes are just so stressful. GW just has a history of making things TOO complex. Starting out with a fine system, then just ruining it with too much stuff and too much complexity. Hearing that this doesn't make it too much more complex is nice to hear.

  • @eskhaphey2873
    @eskhaphey2873 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Deathleaper got a better armour save, Tyrannofex is damage reduction to 0 rather than damage reduce by 1.
    Crusher Stampede doesn't work with units of 2 carnifexes...
    Harvester Swarm won't work very well as there's not a lot datasheets with the harvester keyword.
    Vanguard is easily the best one as it affect all models not just specifically few restricted units.
    The downside to endless swarm is that its 2CP to bring back one unit of models that just die from a mild breeze...

    • @vaettra1589
      @vaettra1589 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say the index detachment and Synaptic Nexus gives Vanguard a run for its money, in other words, the generalist detachments. Which is boring, I wish the themed detachments had viable rules.

  • @deathroar409

    matt for you to say just let the eldar be overpowered is absolutely unacceptable. I get your not a tournament player but stuff like that affects everyone, and letting them stay that way for longer will negatively impact the game. In our local crusade it is so bad that no one wants to play against eldar armies, so now they basically can't play games because the eldar are OP. And this is with them not bringing the best stuff.

    • @effindave6909
      @effindave6909 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have to agree with you. Eldar being in the state they are in (and to a lesser degree Genestealer Cults and Custodes) is super unhealthy for the game. GW has never been good at balance but my Lord they had a chance to hard reset everything with the index reboot and they completely blew it.

    • @miniwargaming
      @miniwargaming  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's tough. I don't want them to be overpowered. But I also don't want the rapid updates that GW does, nerfing and buffing things as often as they do. It makes printed material worthless after a short period of time, the game harder to follow for non-tournament players, and overall fosters a sense of anger amongst the community.
      It's just strange that they didn't catch any of these obviously overpowered things in playtesting. If it was some strange obscure combo I'd get it, but these are simple things.

    • @deathroar409
      @deathroar409 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@miniwargaming I do agree with you on how quickly they change stuff. I had hoped with the indices that it would be less of an issue because online documents if you're out of date just download the newest thing at the Warhammer downloads area in less than 2 seconds. But with physical media that's not really an option as much. I heard the book has a QR code in it to direct you to updated points or something, so there is that at least in form of making an effort to make finding those changes easier on the players.

    • @vaettra1589
      @vaettra1589 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@miniwargaming Yeah it's not rocket science, Eldar currently sits at almost a 70% win rate in competitive play, which is ludicrous. You can build an army list by tossing a dice and stomp most other factions out there. Occam's razor says that GW didn't playtest the index factions at all, or very little.
