Diamond stones in different grits are definitely the way to go! But most people don't necessarily know how to find them but also some people don't understand which direction to us a a regular file.
What should I use on a salomon huck knife? Its description says it has a "2-degree edge holding tune throughout the key parts of the sidecut, back to a 3-degree bevel between the feet."
Those are just how the board comes beveled from the factory on the base. Not something you will worry about unless you are messing with the base side of the edge. Like Matt said in the video though, the side of the edge is more what you’ll be sharpening.
Have a Burton custom, Capita BSOD and Indoor. Do Burton and Capita boards come with *90? Gonna be my first time doing my edges and don’t wanna mess anything up. Thanks for the vid 👍🏾
most snowboards, including Burton and Capita, typically come with a *90 angle, but it’s always a good idea to double-check the manufacturer specs for each board just to be sure. Some boards may come with a slightly different base edge angle out of the factory, like *88 or *89, depending on the model
I heard you should never touch your base edge unless is the first time to set an angle on a nerboard/base grind,or you may end with a bigger degree very fast. Is it possible be razor sharp without it.when doing maintenance?
You can take your board into a local shop and have it looked at. If you are worried about the base bevel on your board you get a basegrind to make it have no more bevel. even if you detuned your park board to have rounded edges a base grind will bring the edges back to flat. but also support your local tuner because this isn't a job you can do without the proper tech.
At minute 4:50 you state that there’s two thing that may be causing it to slide, there is a 3rd reason it may be sliding, and is that the file isn’t making contact with the edge, the file is actually sliding on the sidewall material. If this happens you’ll need to purchase a sidewall planer to remove a very small portion of the sidewall material, and then hit it with the file
No worries haha, just test it on a small part of your edge to make sure you're getting that correct resistance. And for the future always sharpen tip to tail.
Best video by far on edge sharpening! Easy to understand and straight to the point.
🙏
This is exactly the video I've been looking for! No one else has explained what the different angles mean.
Always happy to help!
Oh my. Great job Pete! Or Matt. So many question ive had for years on this answered. Thank You!😊
Glad it was helpful!
You're explanation of the angles using your hands is the best description of that concept I've seen. Good job
Thanks for the kind words! Always glad to help!
This is a better video than most. Waiting for my tuning vise to arrive.
Glad you liked it!
Number/Angle faces the Board. Wow how simple. Wish the Instructions for the Tool actually said that.
It definitely took a minute to figure out because none of the tools actually state it. Crazy right?!?
@@PeterGlennSports Yup... this thing makes a lot of people crazy.
Really nice job explaining this!
🙏
Good explanation on how to do it yourself!
@@ShaiIshShalom 🙏 thanks, glad it was helpful!
I’ve heard a lot of people say not to use those files but to use a diamond stone instead? What are your thoughts?

@@PeterGlennSports so 90 for the side would be fine?

Any recommendation for a Diamond stones set?
The Toko set is top of the line, but if you're pinching pennies the Pro-Tec edge tuner is a cheaper option that I've used for a long time
So, always tip to tail correct?
That's right!
Where can I buy that tool
www.peterglenn.com/product/swix-edger-2x2-tuner
You can check it out on our website!
@PeterGlennSports is it your product good quality?
I tried to buy dose, not ship to Canada, poor review
Thought you're not supposed to tune the base edge and should only be done by shop?
Only if your edger has the spot for the file on the base side.
ty very useful
Happy to help!

Good point! It's definitely a board issue and not a file one if that's the case. But following those steps you outlined will fix it no problem
My tuner stone doesn’t have the arrows im cooked

You are cooked indeed 😂
