One thing I noticed was that he used people multiple times throughout the film. In the car while Louis and Rick are waiting for the robbers to go back to their suv, Rick tells him that he is a bad people person essentially. He later kills him and uses the knowledge Rick gave him as you see when he enters the news building to give them the footage. Also, when joe makes the proposition about two vans on each side of the city and teaming up to get to all crimes scenes first, he declines and when he sees that he should have accepted the deal because it was going well for joe, he cuts his brakes and films his death without remorse. Yet again, he steals his ideas and gets multiple people to work for him and gets two different vans in different sides of the city to get to all crime scenes first.
Man that scene where after shooting his employee the gunman looks at Louis's cold expression, recording. He recognized him as being even more twisted than he himself!

Just imagine if this guy was raised right.
+We vs Ourselves I don't feel like I was off base, but imagining what he could become if "raised right" is a good point that could speak to a small failure of capitalism. Mainly that it's well intentioned, but not caring about other's easily gets you ahead over others.
It is also about how Society condems immoral buiness modells, but at the same time approves it. this is, on the one hand, embodied by investigative police and, on the other hand, embodied by the protagonist‘s remarkable succsess. Ultimately, it is all about compassion, or the lack of it. The protagonist achives his success only because he lacks compassion, while the customors (tv consuments) have compassion for the victims. The film takes stock and realizes that great business success can only be achieved without compassion and Respekt for people. Ultimatly, this means that the most unsrupulous bussinesses will be the most successful.
I was so uncomfortable watching this movie just because I've had bosses that are like him. I didn't just not care for him, I hated him in only the way an employee can hit their boss.
Here's the catch 22 if you don't feel a bit of empathy for old Louis Bloom here in this film the way it's structured you'd have to be a bit sociopathic.
Am I a psychopath or sociopath for not being disturbed at all while watching the movie? I mean I genuinely liked him. Is that bad? Is it bad that I think he did nothing bad (besides for putting his subordinate in a fatal position)? I am dumbfounded by other people's opinions on him, truly. Wow.
fact check: while wearing a watch he stole from a rent a cop. bro was security, not a cop. that's why he targeted him in the first place. shadily asking what outfit he's with. as soon as he realized it's not an actual cop, he pounces.
I absolutely love this series! Thanks so much for making it. If I have any influence, I'd like to recommend an analysis on 'High Rise'. It's a literary adaptation starring Tom Hiddleston. I've been trying to find a good analysis of the film on the internet but haven't really found anything substantial. Thanks!
To reflect its just as crazy to think the audience that feeds off the more edge and grotesque footage that can b obtained and shared by the internet now and permanently stored forever. Were the audience the ones finding these videos online and im sure theres a big market. +We vs Ourselves I don't feel like I was off base, but imagining what he could become if "raised right" is a good point that could speak to a small failure of capitalism. Mainly that it's well intentioned, but not caring about other's easily gets you ahead over others.
What it all Meant that is not at all true, as japan has proven with their worker yoga classes that many companies, in name of productivity, require.
Glad I stumbled upon your videos good job :)
I didn't just not care for him, I hated him in only the way an employee can hit their boss.
loved this video, it really helped explaining the questions that i had while watching the movie
great underrated film
I love your all your thematic analysis videos and can't wait to see more!
Do you think you could do American Graffiti any time soon?
kudgee I'm working on one for Birdman now, and then I have one or two more lined up, but I could get to it for sure
Awsome! Thanks!
I love this movie plus your analysis is spot on.
Yes it’s about a sociopath and capitalism. We watched it already we know.
Guys like this are everywhere around us and that idea just scares me.
My girlfriend hated this movie so much because of how good it is.
He actually stole the watch off a private security outfit, he makes that distinction before making his move.
And an even better addition to it all would be how the audience perpetuates all of this by watching this crap and loving it in the first place.
Hey, Broseph! You should add information about the movies in the description.. e.g. director, production company... etc.
audio is too low
Suerte13 turn it up
Doctor Raccoon it’s poor editing. It shouldn’t rely on the consumer.
What's the song at the end?
So creepy and dark, I like it!
Wow, thank you for the analysis
He stole the watch off a security guard at the beginning, but whatev. Good vid.
Wow you earned a sub. Would love to see some Stanley Kubrick on this channel though.
Mike Dunwall 2001 is coming at a "special" time
That's great I look forward to that.
He stole the watch off a security guard. It's why he asks him " what kind of uniform is that?" Before proceeding with the robbery.
Here's the catch 22 if you don't feel a bit of empathy for old Louis Bloom here in this film the way it's structured you'd have to be a bit sociopathic.
Is it just me or does Gyllenhaal look like
Casey Neistat in this movie.
PLEASE DO PROJECT ALMANAC, the ending, actually
Alan Medina Haven't seen it actually, but I'm about to have ton of time on my hands so maybe soon ;)
I think it’s more, I think this movie is about commercial film making specifically
I’m sure this is how Uber took over the taxi business!
I didn't notice the watch! Holy shit!
Great Job.
Wow.
this one is probably the best movie of Jake Gyllenhaal
you should do one for interstellar
fact check: while wearing a watch he stole from a rent a cop. bro was security, not a cop. that's why he targeted him in the first place. shadily asking what outfit he's with. as soon as he realized it's not an actual cop, he pounces.
he looks like a bug
His eyes are soulless, that of a shark, always hunting, stalking, then ambushing the kill and profiting from it
Ciorchinele Suprem idk he still looks like a bug to me
For some reason this is accurate
that basically describes any predator lol
Loan Shark, get it?
I absolutely love this series! Thanks so much for making it. If I have any influence, I'd like to recommend an analysis on 'High Rise'. It's a literary adaptation starring Tom Hiddleston. I've been trying to find a good analysis of the film on the internet but haven't really found anything substantial. Thanks!
Thanks! I'd need to watch it first, but possibly
This is the media today
thanks yall
To reflect its just as crazy to think the audience that feeds off the more edge and grotesque footage that can b obtained and shared by the internet now and permanently stored forever. Were the audience the ones finding these videos online and im sure theres a big market. I dont think its exactly wrong of all the while youre attempting to save lives because you could - but this potrays darker potential , death will always b there in most cases it doesnt need any encouragement
You didn't go over the ending :(
At 1:03:10 in the movie there’s an extra in the background behind the mansion 🤣😂🤣
Stole the watch from a security guard, not a cop
someone answer me, by the end of the movie, is Lou and the producer having sex? I couldn't notice it. it's killing me.
+joaquim machado He has a line that implies she resisted some stuff at his apartment and she mentions doing stuff for him a few scenes after that when it seems like he's lost his touch
Lolol Penguinz is this you?
