    Loving your channel. I only just found it and it’s great so far! I’m also from Australia and nearly ready to buy my first boat so I can relate to you a lot.
    Bummer about your through hole pains but this is how you learn!

    Amazing, both the name and hale looked perfect with the correct flag flying on launch day. She looked marvelous after only 4 weeks of prep, you both should be so proud. Can't wait for future episodes, you guys ROCK!

    Well done guys. As much as the launch was not what you hoped for (maybe Wishful Thinking) at least you can take solice in that you have learnt that boat jobs never go to plan and that flexibility combined with persistance and perserverance are the order of the day. You both displayed that admirably and I look forward to see how the fruits of your love and labour play out in the Med. Fair winds.

    Hi guys great content from another cruising aussie! 🇦🇺
    Please do your selves a favor and put an loud audibil alarm that can be heard from you steering station in high winds. At least this way u are altered that the bilge pump is running and you have water in the bilges.
    Good luck with you sailing journeys. Its all about highs and lows, but highs are worth all the hard work

    I bought a Moody 422 and visited the boat in the USA a few weeks ago. Watching your video touched on similar ‘clearing work’ that we had to do - great content and I hope you get to sail more in the future.

    Hi guys, I feel your pain but it will be a good way to get to know your new yacht. Don't worry about the black bottom paint as you can put blue on next time and know when you're rubbing back to the black that you have to get hauled out again. I have had black bottom paint on my boat for years, and no worries about whales. I am on the east coast of Australia and we have plenty of whales going up and down at present with no worries. Looking forward to video three. Cheers from Newcastle Australia

    Hi. I had several instances of major issues with Cleopatra Marina because they are totally disorganized when it comes to technical issues. That is actually the main reason why they tell you their technicians are fully booked. They drag projects and support for weeks and prices are quite steep. I would not return there. Regards from Switzerland. Silvano

    • @sailingwishfulthinking
      @sailingwishfulthinking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Silvano, thanks for the comment, we had a similar experience. The previous owner of our boat had booked it into Cleopatra Marina on the hard up until June (and paid for it) so we decided to just stay there, but we were pretty disappointed with some aspects of the marina, especially the technical department. They needed at least a month's notice before doing any work on our boat, which isn't much use when you've just found a problem at the start of the season. Then if you want to get your own contractor in they make you pay a surcharge! The previous owner also had them do some jobs on the boat before we took it over and we weren't very happy with their workmanship plus it was quite expensive. We won't be returning there either - not worth the high prices in our opinion!

    Hi Guys,hope you’ve had a great season …Moody’s are the best we have a 1998 Moody 40 mk2.
    We’re interested to know how your DIY holding tank has performed and if you could have done anything differently. We want to copy what you’ve done and fit it into the SB aft lazerette locker. Cheers Nige and Donna.

    • @ryananthony6416
      @ryananthony6416 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nige and Donna, thanks for watching the videos! The holding tank has worked fine and has allowed us to sail in Turkey this season. We haven't had any issues getting pumped out, and no leaks! I built the shelf just slightly above the waterline to maximise the capacity of the tank and to ensure a good flush when dropping the waste at sea. I would recommend finding a tank that has an inspection opening already installed as this is the biggest risk of leakage. We used a petrol tank which did not have an inspection opening large enough to get the fittings in, so I had to cut and fit an opening. I would also recommend plumbing in a bypass to the tank so that you can direct deposit when at sea. I am planning on installing a bypass on ours for next season. Currently our forward head is our direct to sea toilet and aft head is the holding tank toilet. All the best with the instal! Feel free to message us through Instagram if you want to discuss. Ryan

    Change all the through hulls to trudesign composites - do them yourself, plenty of online resources who if you how. Also did you check the stern gland? Not sure what sort of fitting you have - Volvo dripless seal? Needs changing every 5-7 years..

    • @sailingwishfulthinking
      @sailingwishfulthinking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Kevin. I have come across the True Design thru hull/ seacock fittings and am very interested. Those New Zealanders are always coming up with something! 🇳🇿 For our first season we serviced all the existing seacocks with white grease and changed out the ones that we determined to be faulty. Unfortunately we have a range of different ages, some unknown, so plan to replace all the old thru hulls this coming winter ready for extended cruising 👍
      We have the older style stuffing box. Its all greased up and i have been monitoring when motoring for long periods. Thanks for your comment, Ryan

      Hi, we'll make a future video about boat buying costs 😊 The boat work we did probably cost us about 1000 to 1500 Euros on parts - we didn't need to do any major jobs, just lots of maintenance etc. We did all of the work ourselves to save money 😊
