    I would say make sure you get under the copper plate underneath iPod battery using hard flat tool or dining knife. Don't separate the copper plate and the battery. This way the battery doesn't bent too much and doesn't get damaged permanently.

    Note small metallic part I remove at 1.18. Make sure you didn't forget it. New back housing comes without it and you need to reuse the old one. Without this piece power button will not work properly.

    Usually all stuff should stay untouched, but I've seen it being reset to factory state a few times. I would recommend to back everything up before the repair.

    Hi thanks for the video. I had a fourth gen with 32 gbs and it literally fell off a building, I saved the mobo/ (rectangular shaped with chipset under shielding) and was recently given an 8 gb model. Can I swap in the larger board?

    • @DIYtime
      @DIYtime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure...

  • @DIYtime
    @DIYtime  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Either look for it on Googel search, or buy cheap trashed iPod with working motherboard and replace it. That's the only thing I can come up with.

  • @DIYtime
    @DIYtime  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is probably the hardest electronics repair I've done so far. You gotta have have at least some prior experience before attempting this.

  • @DIYtime
    @DIYtime  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had the same issue. It would not sit in place. I ended up using metallic filer to file off corners a little bit.

  • @DIYtime
    @DIYtime  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No, I don't since there is many other TH-cam channels showing how to do that. I just didn't want to post another one.

    I don't really wanna mess with it. It is complicated and risky repair. So easy to screw up the ipod. $40 min.

    New back plate comes with camera glass attached to it. You'll have scratch-free camera after you replace it.

  • @DIYtime
    @DIYtime  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had no problems with mine. Did you remove old adhesive completely before putting new one?

  • @DIYtime
    @DIYtime  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seems like the back housing was not made to factory specs. Return it if you can.

  • @DIYtime
    @DIYtime  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It'll take about 1 hour, or faster if you have prior repairs experience.

    I was wondering if while doing this, could I replace my battery by melting the glue that holds it to the copper thing and after removing the old battery, changing it for my new one while putting it back together, btw sorry fir my bad english...

    great way to screw your ipod touch. So many oportunities to scratch/damage those ribbon cables. I bought a new cover but didn't realise it was so fidly and dangerous. Decided just to keep my badly scratched case on it after seeing this.

    So when putting the new screen on you had no problems? I have it that it doesn't want to go down far enough. Just wondering if anybody had the same problem?

      eBay is the only place I can think of.
      They don't always have it, but you may be able to find cheap cracked iPod with working motherboard and swap it as alternative (or probably the only way to find good working one):
      rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=9&pub=5575132837&toolid=10001&campid=5337787650&customid=&icep_uq=iPod+Touch+4+motherboard&icep_sellerId=&icep_ex_kw=&icep_sortBy=12&icep_catId=&icep_minPrice=&icep_maxPrice=&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

      It's EMF shield and heat sink at the same time. It blocks Electro magnetic field interference caused by wi-fi antenna or other components and helps to prevent overheating by spreading heat.
      It's better to put it back where it was before you fried something...

      Did you ever connect iPod to a computer?
      If yes, iTunes automatically makes a back up of all your content.

      Unfortunately, there is no way to recover it. iPod has to be working to be able to recover the images.
