60ft tree fell on our wheeled home, three years into full time. Unit totalled. Wish us luck as we find our new home. Positive vibes 💜. Tired of motel life & ready to hit the road!!☮️
Oh my goodness Brenda! I’m so sorry! I can’t even imagine how traumatic that has been!! So so much love and positive vibes headed your way for your new rv!! Thanks for watching and connecting with us. We hope to see you on the road soon. 🤗
I completely understand why you went smaller!! We had a 2017 Brookestone 41 feet long. It was a seasonal camper but that changed this year. It was to big for me to tow anymore and with retirement coming we needed to go smaller. We went with a 25 ft Rockwood. OMG I will tow it anywhere. No more problems getting reservations. Good luck and safe travels with your new home.
Hi Joe! Nice to have you here. Thank you for your support and taking the time to comment! A 25ft sounds like a great rig! We are already finding it so much easier even in this new 35 ft rig! So happy you’ve found something smaller and easier to travel in! Maybe we will cross paths some day. Thank you! -Tammy and Scott
You are not alone. Have seen dozens, if not hundreds buy too large going in. My wife and I evolved from camping under the stars, to tents of many, then in pop-ups, hybrid travel trailer, travel trailers, and bought our first 5er in 2019. A 35-foot Grand Design Solitude, which is the perfect size for our needs and way of camping at this stage in our life together. Good luck and safe journeys!
Hi Rob! Nice to connect with you here. You probably bought the fver we initially meant to get 😉. But lessons learned! Yes, we’ve done and had many things starting with tents (bones hurt too much for that now) one of our favorites was a truck with slide in pop up truck camper! We could go everywhere! Be sure to say hello if you see us in the road! Happy travels -Tammy
Looked for two years an Bought a 2014 Solitude 369RL. Love it. Missouri kansas Colorado Wyoming Montana Canada Alaska an back . 18 thousand miles in 6 months. It is parked on a half acre. Bought a 2000 Shasta Flite 239 1 slide. 5 thou lbs instead of 15 thou lbs. Heading to Quartzsite after Christmas. Safe travels.
Hi Clayton! It sounds like you’ve had some amazing adventures! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Enjoy Arizona and safe travels to you!
We had a 44ft toy hauler and now we have a 44ft 5th wheeler with a extra trailer for our motorcycles and bikes....lol....much more comfortable we also have 3 dogs I’m going to start driving personally I love the space but not everyone has to have it ,” enjoy your new home , stay healthy, God bless.
Hi Sharon! WOW! We looked at toy haulers too, good thing we didn't do that lol it's awesome that you are going to start driving and such a big rig! I need to learn too, once we start moving again and get the problems fixed! Thank you for watching and sharing your experience and story. It's so fun to connect with other RVers out there! Happy travels - Tammy
I'm sure you're not alone in this experience. I'm amazed you bought such a massive rig in the first place. I'd be scared shitless towing that thing! Mind you, the new one still looks big! What kind of bastard puts the word 'disastrous' in a fortune cookie?? And I hope the prick who stole your Kayak drowns in it. Don't worry - what comes around goes around. In any case, the great thing is - everything is temporary - good and bad. Take care you two. xoxo
Hi Peter! Your comment made us laugh so much! Thank you for that! I couldn't agree more 😂 everything is temporary and always works out (I'm telling myself as I sit here being eating alive by mosquitoes) Thank you for watching and giving us a daily dose of laughter! Appreciate you!
We started out in November of 2021 with a Transcend 261BH. We fell in love with camping and just traded up to a Reflection 367BHS. Went form 31' overall to 41'. The kids love having their own rooms since one is 20 and the other is 14.
That’s awesome! Some people go bigger and some smaller. The separate rooms are perfect for the kids! Appreciate you watching and sharing your experience!
@@bruceschafer7142 I love that “most timers”. Sounds like you have the best of both worlds! We sure appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! Safe travels!
You are not alone, we are on our 6th rig in 10 years!! And already thinking about another. Our current rig is a full profile, 38 foot fifth wheel. Good luck with the new rig!!
Hi Jerry! We feel so much better now ! Thank you for sharing your story with us! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Safe and happy travels! -Tammy
Hi Michael! We are definitely one of those people! Enjoying the smaller size, but not all of the new rig issues! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
Being over 13 feet tall is what gets me! Sometimes I really envy the folks out there pulling Airstreams. Like you said I could get real sporty pulling something smaller lol. Enjoy your new rig!
Hi Dustin! Nice to see you here! Yes, airstream envy is real! lol we have it too, but this rig is much easier and a tad shorter than the last, but we still duck going under bridges 😂 Hope you both are well! Thanks for stopping by!
We started with a 22’ hybrid, went to a 37’ 5th wheel, which we lived in 2 years (stationary), sold it when we fell in love with a piece of property in the county we were living and working in. Bought another hybrid (25’), which we lived in temporary while our house was being built. 3 years later, we are settled and hubby is retiring next month and we are going to start traveling up the east coast and into Canada to visit family. We bought a 14’ TT Trail Lite Rove) that we can tow with our mini van. Bigger is not always better!!
Hi Julie! Wow! You have done all kinds of transitions! Makes me feel so much better 😉. It sounds like you have a full and adventurous life and much more to come!! Have so much fun in the coming New Year! Happy travels-Tammy
I took the advice of others and started small: a 23ft Class C with a trailer for my motorcycle. The total length is 40ft but I've been able to drop the trailer at national and state parks and fit anywhere I've wanted. It's worked out amazingly. Currently in Mexico (Puerto Peñasco) for a trip down Baja for the next three months. Also just installed a mini-split heat pump and ditched the overhead a/c unit. Aaaaaaah, quiet, cool a/c, finally.
I bought a 30 ft 5th wheel with 2 opposing slides. It’s just me and my dog that camp. I ordered my new camper last summer with my pick up this May. No slides to break down. I’m excited to go smaller (23 ft) bumper pull. I’ll get my truck box back! I’m with you in downsizing! Congrats!
Hi Amy! Nice to see a new follower in here! You sure did it right by starting small! And now your going even smaller. That’s so awesome! I can see doing that in the future too! We sure appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment and connect! Happy Travels!!
We have bought used campers as we experiment with what works for us. Started with a truck camper - great memories from my childhood camper days with my grandparents. 14 days in the back of floor space the size of your truck- sold it when we got home! We have felt like Goldilocks at times- this camper is to…. Small, has the worst couch, has no slide…We have continued to buy used ..love what we have now…but would like to find a 25/26 foot with the right layout ours is 29ft with great floor plan. Storage units- our friend has one for 5 years- he now realizes he would of been better off with a land loan and have a postage size piece of property with a storage shed.
Hi Carol!!! I so love your Goldilocks rendition and it's soooo accurate! We too had a truck camper and it has by far been our favorite adventure mobile but we were not living in it! Sounds like you are doing the right things by testing out and getting used! It's so nice to connect and your friend is absolutely correct about the storage unit we may have to remedy that in the very near future! We appreciate you sharing your story and experiences and taking the time to comment! Happy and safe travels - Scott and Tammy
Hello!! Nice to connect and not feel so alone 😉. It was amazing but having the smaller size makes a world of difference! Good luck and thank you for watching and sharing your story too - Tammy
We have a 41' toy hauler and we agree it is way too big for long trips or for when we retire and become snow birds. Your new coach is PERFECT! It's exactly what we are going to get, and I'll be trading in my single wheel F350 for a dually.
Hi Gary! Yep, we loved our big one but you have to weigh out the benefits of size and mobility. I wish you all the best in finding your new smaller rig!! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
You said “That’s our story.” That’s our story, too. We stayed 4 years in our 42-ft Chaparral. We loved it, still miss it, but it was just too big for the places we need to go frequently. Just finished our second season in a 32-foot GD Reflection. Travel is easier but staying is not quite as comfortable. Still, it meets our needs and keeps us going.
Hi Al! Nice to connect and have you here! So nice to hear we have a similar story! I do miss a few of the extras with our big rig, but mostly the storage! And we are really appreciating the new size, however it’s come with a lot of new rig issues. I’m assuming you are full time RVers?! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us!
@@TilFurtherNotice Yes, the storage shortage is still an adjustment challenge even after 2 years, but it’s the extra room inside that I miss most… and the king-size bed. No, not full-time but we put over 5,000 miles on it from March to November.
I also have been living in my RV for a little over a year a have learned a lot. I did the opposite though, I started off too small and realized I would like just a little more space to spread out. Love the video!
That’s great! We’ve heard all kinds of stories from folks about switching RVs multiple times trying on different sizes! Thanks for watching and safe travels!
If it’s any help, we absolutely loved our grand Design! If you are comfortable towing that size or are going to be stationary it’s amazing! Good luck and thank you for following along!
We started with a 31 ft Grand Design 5th wheel and it's perfect for us. It pulls much like a 25-26 ft bumper trailer and I tow it with a short bed extended cab chevy and a Pullrite auto slide. Very compact and works great. I've been a class A driver for 30 years and have no problem pulling the oversized 12'x53' loads but I don't want to do it for recreation.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! I had no idea grand design made a 31ft fifth wheel?! That’s a great size. So far this 35ft is a great size, who knows maybe we will keep going smaller! Thank you for sharing your story!
We purchased a Flagstaff 526RK. 30 ft 5th wheel last year. We love it. We can just about go anywhere. Lots of room in the family room area. Smaller bedroom but we live in the family room. Prices are very high. We just were hostesses for our dealership for their open house. We couldn’t believe how much prices are compared to last year. They are out there. Deana.
We did the same thing! We had a 30’ travel trailer and switched to a 40’ toy hauler. What a mistake. Very stressful driving, going under bridges, had to go to RV Resorts only. Not good. We are going to go back to a 32’ travel trailer. So you’re not alone. Good luck!
Hello! So nice to connect and not feel so alone! Are you full time RVers too? 32ft sounds like a great size! We sure appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! Safe travels and best wishes with your new smaller rig- Tammy and Scott
We bought our Grand Design Reflection 303rls last February and really like like it a lot. You never get %100 of what you want out of any RV but for us it's a strong %95. Sorry to hear about your kayak and truck. Good luck with your new rig and safe travels.
Hi John! That’s a nice size rig! That is true, they never make one that’s exactly what you want, but happy to hear you are at a 95% with your grand design! Thank you so much for sharing, happy travels!
You're not alone. We bought a Crusader 395BHL and eight months later, yep just EIGHT months later started actively looking for a different floorplan. Hope things have gotten better.
Hi Beth! Thanks for letting us know we are not alone! It seems, you don’t know what you need or want until you actually get out and experience it?! So nice to connect! Maybe we will cross paths someday!
Oh my word. You guys!!! Talk about a traumatic experience. So sorry your exciting RV swap ended up including all of that drama. And poor Jasper!!! Hoping and praying that you're able to get settled into your new home and that nothing else bad happens for a while so you can enjoy it. Big hugs to you!
Hi guys!!! It was not the best experience and we are still working through the bugs on this rig 😏 but love the size and Scott loves towing it! On the road in it now! Hope you both are doing well!! Thank you for watching 🤗
Tammy and Scott, congratulations on the new rig. Too bad about all of the negative things happening at the hotel seems like that’s happening a lot these days. Here’s too many years in your new rig. Just be mindful of the number of rocks you pick up along the way😉❤️. Peace and Safe Travels
Thank you Craig! Unfortunately, this rig is proving to be full of challenges, although we love the size and homey feel, lots of bugs and stuff we are working out as we travel! I have one cabinet dedicated to rocks, shells and the like 😂 The carrying capacity is so much better on this rig! Appreciate you both!
So I just want to give kudos to y'all for going smaller! It's not easy! Our family currently has a 32' bumper pull with bunk house that we've used for camping and short Burts of full-timeing like 3 months and under. But now we got rid of the house and just went real full-time. Our kids are much bigger than they were 6 years ago so we are looking to upgrade. It is so hard trying to find the right layout, warranty, manufacturer and length for what we want or need to do. I am ready to pull my hair out! Lol best of luck on your newest adventure!
Hi Angel! So nice to have you here and to connect! Congrats on your transition into your full time rv life!!! I know it’s overwhelming!!! But wow with kids, I say kudos to you! I’d love to know what you end up with and who knows, maybe we will meet somewhere out on the road! Good luck to you as well and happy happy travels! -Tammy
Have 28 foot Class C and a 14x7 Cargo Trailer! So it works out to about 47 feet. But got to keep the cargo trailer as it is my photography darkroom. I know what you mean about driving being intimidating at first. I have gotten used to it now, in our second year. The big thing is backing up the trailer and turning it, that still needs practice, backing in a straight line easier.
Gerry! Hi again. That is a lot to maneuver! We thought about doing your type of set up so we could pull an art studio. Excited to hear about your up coming trip and project! Thank you and keep in touch.
we've been camping for 2 years (well this year will be the 3rd) and we are on our 5th last camper lol - started with a broken down pop up - then a Jayco Swift 17BH next was an rpod after that was a Winnebago micro minni 2106ds - and finally our keeper a Grand Design 17MKE - so your in good company or well I'm in good company lol
We've had our little 24ft-er for 6 yrs now. Sometimes it'd be nice to have a larger one....but....we're part time, we didn't want a 5th wheel, & I do almost all the driving because hubby's got sleep apnea. His job is parking when we get to a campsite or backing up our winding driveway & parking when we get home. So our little RV home does us ok, even when we were living in it for about 5-6 mos traveling the US on genealogy research a few yrs ago..
We did the same thing, we bought a 40’ Montana with five slides. I believed it was our “last one”. We just sold it after a year. Heading to the Tampa RV show to find a 30’ TT. I will miss the amenities and roominess the Montana offered, but we are weekend warriors now :))
Hi Patrick! Nice to connect and hear we are not alone 😉. I only miss a few of the amenities and really miss not having so many issues (stay tuned)! Good luck finding your next rig! We went to that rv show before we bought ours too! Happy travels-Tammy
The otherway, I lost my wife a few years ago then the house burnt down, I bought a used coachman 16 fb, tiny lol, but just me, I was in the process of buying a bigger trailer on the way to take possession I crashed. Just this october I got a new trancend 200mk, It seems huge, things will work out, hugs
Hi Ben! Wow, I’m so sorry to hear about your wife, your house, your crash! It sounds like you had a very hard few years! I hope you are out enjoying your new transcend! I bet it does seem huge going in the opposite direction! Happy Adventuring and hugs right back at you -Tammy
Loving the new adventure rig! So sorry about the truck and the kayak stolen. 😡 Looks like you had some great customer service from the RV company. Can’t wait to see all the wonderful places you will explore in your new home.
Hi guys!! Thank you! We are working out all of the issues but excited to get it more adventure ready! On the road traveling as I write this! The RV dealership is another story 😏 lol. Thank you for watching!! Happy Adventuring to you!
Oh wow, you two! What a crazy transition. Sending BIG HUGS your way. What kind of crappy person smashes a window and steals a kayak!? Even worse, what kind of crappy person puts that message in a fortune cookie!? So sorry it didn't go as smoothly as it could have. Here's to things looking up, though, and we hope you enjoy your new (shorter) home on wheels!
Hi Guys! Crazy is an understatement! Thanks so much for stopping by and dropping your comment of support! We sure appreciate you and hope your travels are going great!
Hello sweet friends, wish we could reach through and hug you right now. Ditto to Peter's comment about the fortune cookie & the kayak, 🙌 couldn't have been said any better! We have so many good memories with Hope, looking forward to Hope 2.0 Congratulations, your new home on wheels is beautiful and even though it's been quite a process getting there, it's all part of the journey. We wish you the best! Soak up some beatiful sun for us! ☀🌴 Love & miss you guys! Take care - Jody
Hi Jody! Thank you for your kind words! It always makes my day when I see your comment come through! Peter gave us a good laugh! That was really the saddest part, was all of our memories in that kayak! We will be shopping for a new one once we park for a bit. Thank you both for your friendship and miss you too!!
Hi guys , just found your channel and subscribed. I am Jeff from TH-cam channel Jeff and Steffs Excellent Adventure. We almost did the same thing you did and ordered a large toy hauler fifth wheel but had a change of heart a month before delivery and opted for the smaller 35 ft fifth wheel because of all the things you experienced with driving and parking a unit that big. Your going to love the ease of driving the 35 footer. Merry Christmas and hope to see you out on the road!!
Hi Jeff! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for the support! We were originally going to get the 35ft too! Absolutely love the size of the new one, just not all the work it is fixing stuff. Scott is so much more at ease towing this length too. Thank you for connecting, maybe we will cross paths. Merry Christmas and happy New Year! -Tammy
Enjoy your new home. I'm positive Scott is going to feel much more comfortable pulling this one. Keep on enjoying your lives. Keep on smiling. ✌️ Bill and Annee
AWESOME! Congrats on the Vilano 320! Did the almost identical thing. Grand Design 43ft toy hauler to same floor plan as your new one. Sorry about your kayaks and your window. I do worry about ours all the time. Welcome to the Vanleigh family!
Hi guys!! Thank you! That’s so awesome! Nice to relate and connect! Still working out all of the issues with our Vanleigh 😏. Hope we are reaching the end of our fix list! We sure appreciate you following along!
we bought our 5R first, got a friend with a 1 ton to haul it, he has a grand design. Then we went looking for a truck to haul it with. Our 5R is ~40ft long, tri-axle and weighs a little less than 20k..loaded. Believe me when I say we looked at a butt ton of trucks. We ended up buying a retired ranch truck. A Mack semi. Tows like a dream, had to change hitch, and stops like a champ. We were more concerned with stopping, we got locally 7-10% grade, narrow roads and hairpins...super scary. But its our forever home, and didn't want to put 1/4 mil into a truck and trailer..with all the upgrades, and renovating, figure we'll be into the two of them 65k when we're done. What works for one, seldom works for someone else. I'm sure you'll be much happier, especially if you're more confident.
Hi Marell! Sounds like you found a great truck and rv! Yep, those grades can be a bit scary, but with that truck you can handle anything! I think the confidence is a big factor for sure! We sure appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. Happy travels - Scott and Tammy
I had wondered why you appeared in a slightly smaller motorhome and now I understand. I have a feeling that you made the right decision when you did. I believe everything happens for a reason and, you were pulling around such a large vehicle which limited your experience on the road. I think it’s something to consider after you have done all the touring and want to travel less but it’s clearly not that time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and problems as it’s helpful to others who are starting their journey. It was a brave couple of days of filming but your message really got through. I’m so sorry to see you were robbed just for the extra blow. Security is paramount and at least the animals were out of the motorhome and with you. It’s over now and I hope just a memory of life and learning. I’m so touched by you both and think of you often. Onwards…. Much love, Lorrie 🙏🏻💕💫
Hello sweet Lorrie! Thank you for always sharing such thoughtful and kind messages! It’s all a journey and life experiences even the “not so good” parts. I guess the best any of us can do is be a kind person and try to share love and a spark of light in the world around us! Sending love your way 💕
We hope we got it taken care of, time will tell! We are learning a lot about this rv indeed! Appreciate you following along and taking the time to comment!!
We met you guys at the Tallahassee RV park! We were parked next to you. Gwyn and Gary from Louisiana on Dec 17. Good luck with your new RV. We will be following your adventures!
We aren’t full time RV’ers but we did sell our first trailer after three months. We were newbies to the TT world and discovered we enjoyed camping so much we wanted to do it with a larger rig. 🤷♂️
Hello! So nice to have you stop by! It seems like we just don’t really know what we want until we get out there and do it! Nice to relate, big or small! Happy you are getting out and enjoying the rv fun! Happy camping! -Tammy
The less one have the better and less headache. 😌 I like you guy were getting old harder to deal doing thing. I hope God give you health for a long time to deal with the camper enjoy 😉.
Thank you for stopping by John! It's a great size, but boy have we had many issues! Working out the kinks while we travel and grateful for this opportunity!
We have a gd 310gk, ours is 35 feet which is perfect for us. We bought a used 2017 unit in 2019 and just hit two years full time. For two people 30-35 feet should be plenty. We have spent the last two summers traveling in Canada, in some pretty small challenging spots. For Florida state parks you really want to keep it under 35. We looked at Villanos when we looked but couldn’t find any used ones, we were committed to used only. Love the woodwork in the volano. We have to give our dog calming drops when traveling. Good luck with the new rig. Larry
Hi Larry! Nice to see you here! We watch your channel and it’s always great and informative! The 310gk was the original rv we intended to get! That was our problem when searching for the Vilano, was not finding used ones and well, you’ll see in the coming videos just what a pain that is! You made the right buying decision for sure! Appreciate you stopping by and sharing your experience with us! Happy New Year! -Tammy
People are terrible!!!!! I’m so sorry this happened to such good people like yourselves!! I’m an emotional wreck now too 😭 Im happy you found a new home and it looks beautiful and so happy you will finally get to stay in places you haven’t been able to before. It will all be worth it in the end!!! Im sending so many good thoughts and vibes your way!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Hi Chuck and Cherie! Thank you for the sweet comment! I know you guys will always have our backs 😘 yep, people suck sometimes! We are loving the size of the new rig! On the road right now! A tour will be coming soon once we have more time to give it our honest review. Lots a kinks to work out! Thanks for all of the good vibes! We will take all we can get. Hope you both are well. Love and hugs!
I love fifth wheels they just seem like a lot to handle. I salute those who live by them. We have a 30ft class c rv and that feels big on the road in small cities. Were a family of 6 so we needed the room. I also like that were all not crammed into a truck on the road. Plus my day to day doesnt involve a big heavy duty truck. It would just sit until we travel. Happy travels and have a great new year. Glad i found your channel. I subscribed to hear more!
Hello! Thank you for following along and sharing your travel experience and rv with us too! Sounds like you found a great adventure mobile! We used to have a class a and it sure did have its perks! Safe and happy travels-Tammy
You are not alone in going thru rigs until you find what works. We started in pop up tent trailers coming from regular tent camping. Two different pop ups in about 10 years, then 3 fifth wheels in 5 years, the last fifth wheel is a 2002 Carriage Cameo 30 ft we bought used in 2006 and have had it ever since. We started out as weekenders with a week or two each year, now since retired we do a week each month from May-September. The Carriage brand was completely made in house including frame, cabinets, and decor - not done anymore and from our experience with the two Fleetwood fifth wheels, there isn't the same pride in workmanship or quality control when pieced together from different manufactured components. Unfortunately Carriage went out of business in 2010 due to the recession that started in 2009 - people stopped buying RVs.
Hi Steve! Thank you for sharing your story and experience! Sounds you get out on adventures a lot and have found a well built rig too! Say hello if you see us out on the road and thank you so much for following along!
@@TilFurtherNotice Just watched your next video and found out you are from Colorado, my wife and I are natives and live in Rifle about 30 miles west of Glenwood Springs. I grew up in Aurora and my wife, Billie, grew up west of Ft. Collins in the Poudre canyon area. We mainly stay on the western slope when camping. We may see you in our adventures we regularly stay at Redstone campground, Chapman campground, and Steamboat area and a few trips to Moab or Gunnison or Ouray.
@@stevejansky9913 that’s so cool Steve! We have lived in several places in Colorado from south denver to la Veta to grand junction! We absolutely love Moab too!! All of our family is there so that’s where we return to visit and do dr appts etc! Hope to meet you one of these days!
Hello! Thank you for stopping by! We LOVE Canada and can’t wait to get back there! What part are you from? Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! Happy adventures-Tammy and Scott
Hi Diana! Change is tough, but we are forever grateful for this opportunity and we will be in the market for a new kayak once we get to Florida! Thanks you 😘
I have a 34 foot travel trailer. This has worked out pretty good allowing us to go most places. We can’t fit into some of the primitive sites in some of the national parks but that’s ok.
Today I went to the dealership and saw my dream rig its the Grand Design Imagine 3250bh I had heart surgery in June I was 64 on the 12 of December so I want to hit the road also one day and camping with my grand kids but they are so expensive for me but I won't give up till I have my dream fulfilled have fun my friend😜
Hi Johnny! Those bunkhouse units are so nice! We looked at that option too. Happy belated birthday and wow, we are sending you a lot of best wishes and healing hugs for your heart! Love the idea of you getting on the road and sharing adventures with your grandkids. I hope you can get there soon! Thank you for watching and sharing your story!! -Scott and Tammy
Wow, Congratulations on your new rig. We hope you get many years of enjoyment. Tough break on the smash and grab, certainly glad no one was hurt. Hope you have had a Merry Christmas! Happy Camping!
Hello and thank you! The new rig is proving to be a challenge, but we hope it gets better soon! We sure appreciate the support and kind words! Happy New Year!
Congratulations on your new rig! Sorry about the dirtbags that messed up your truck and took the kayak-people stink sometimes. Safe travels and can’t wait to see your next video!
Hello!! Nice to see you back! Thank you so much! We will do a full tour soon! Need to get settled in somewhere 😉. Happy travels to you and thanks for your comment!
OK. Fortune Cookies. Not that I think there is anything to them, mind you. Just prior to leaving for a deployment in 2004, I went with my family to a favorite Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant. At the end of a tasty meal, the fortune cookies were handed out. Mine read, ‘You will step on the soil of many countries.’ That was a fair description of my next nine or ten months. Motel -vs- staying in my RV locked in a dealer lot? Door Number Two, if you please! Thanks for sharing. Travel mercies with your new rig. May all your troubles be small ones (and few)!
Hi Douglas! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! I loved hearing your fortune cookie story! I would rather never spend the night in a hotel again 😂. Appreciate your kind words. Thank you so much! -Tammy
My mom bought a Jayco Redhawk not even a year ago and we've already decided to switch to a fifth wheel and truck. We still love the Redhawk but having separate sleeping rooms is something we decided we need and also not having a vehicle to get around in is a struggle sometimes. We're currently looking at the Reflection 341RDS but we're not going to go for it until after this camping season. We want to get one more year in before we swap out.
Yes overpriced but once you sell or trade you recover more than any other brand. Why? Because of the initial cost they eliminate many consumers but most shopping around can see the quality built in. Overall a simple construct without too many complex areas which makes it diy friendly. I can go on and on but suffice it to say owners command instant respect and clearances remove most obstacles when exploring
I stumbled across this video and just had to watch. So first time watching any of your vids. I know how you felt getting rid of one home and going on from the next. For me I upgraded from a 25.5 ft 5th wheel to a 29.5 ft 5th wheel. I have a the GD 260RD and love it atm but I know I will be upgrading to a toy hauler within the next 3 years when I go full time. I plan on taking my bike along for the adventure.
Hi Jon, nice to have you here! Sounds like you are going in the opposite direction! Toy haulers are great! We contemplated one from the beginning! Thank you for sharing your experience. Safe and happy travels-Tammy
Finally found this video. You know after previously commenting on Tag Along & how the renovations you both did was amazing as well as that beautiful art work on display. I just recently started following your channel and I think it’s a great channel & will be looking forward to all the new adventures in your new RV. Hope you’re thinking of a new name for your new rig.
I loved this video. We are in our camper for just 4 months and already looking to trade. We have two kids and two fur babies with us. Thank you for all the info on yalls story and can’t wait to watch more of your videos.. best wishes from the sheltons.
Hello Sheltons! Nice to have you join us! I'm happy to know we aren't the only ones trading in! Although, to warn you, in the next couple of videos you are going to see a list of issues! Your kids are going to have so many great memories traveling! We look forward to watching your adventures unfold too! Happy New Year - Tammy
HI Mom! We are starting to get used to the frustrations lol Once we get to Florida, we will keep out eye out for a new kayak!! But where to put it?! Love you
Better things are ahead for you both. We are currently looking to get rid of our Grand Design for 2 different reasons. First is all the issues that we are having with our 2021 Grand Design Reflection 303rls. We see daylight through the walls and had cracked spring Hangers breaking on the highway and almost making us wreck, sink falling through and so much more. I did a video on our issues with the outside. Getting ready to do a video on the issues of the inside. Ours is 32ft long. We are currently looking into a 36ft Fifth Wheel now. No bigger than that. Because you can't get into some State or National Parks. The second reason we are changing is so I can have a washer and dryer. I'm so tired of hunting for laundromat or using ones at campgrounds. They can get expensive.I have a portable washer, but then we have laundry hanging up everywhere. I have super sensitive skin due to my nerve disease. And scratchy washcloths and towels hurt my skin. We are just so tired of dealing with Customer Service with Grand Design. We must have gotten the lemon of all lemons of RVs. Lol. This Fifth Wheel has been a nightmare. We have been RVing for 20 years and never had so much trouble. Going to the RV Tampa Show this January to check everything out. We are loving this amazing warm weather and sunshine. I checked out the pictures of your new RV. It's simply gorgeous. Wise move going to a 34ft. You will totally love the ease of getting into places. And that's a good brand. I really wish you both the most happiness and fun with your new RV. I wish that when we trade ours for another new RV that it would be a even trade. But with our luck we will have to pay a difference. Grand Designs are getting very expensive. Ours cost 62,000 in 2021, the same RV now is 82,000 and going up again. But the one we want is 62,000. But we probably won't get even close to what we paid for it. So we will have to pay a difference in price. See ya all out on the road and stay safe
HI Again! I'm so sorry to hear you've got a lemon of a rig too! If you watched the last video you won't feel alone 😂 It's so unfortunate how these new rigs are being built and you are correct prices are at an all time high too. I'm not sure it matters which brand you get, as I've heard from people all over the board about their bad experiences. I hope you find exactly what you are looking for and that it's a good one! Sending you love and prayers for a positive outcome! I need to go watch your video now!
Just found out Vanleigh closed it's doors yesterday! They will no longer produce a fifth wheel. They are staying with motorized RV's. I'm sure they will have parts for your coach!
Oh my lord Tammy so sorry for what you two had to go through, but I have to say I love the new rig hopefully you've gotten all the bugs fixed and are on your way to happier places good luck with your new home on wheels 😊
Hi Penny! Thank you 🤗 Still working out all of the bugs! But happy with the size and grateful for this opportunity to live rv life! Appreciate you. Hope you are well!
I also purchased a grand design solitude fifth wheel. I realized shortly after I bought it that it was way too big so I bought a small 21' foretravel and I live out of The Grand Design. It ended up working out okay, but I totally get it!
Hi Mona! We love this concept and even thought about doing what you did as an option! I’m happy to connect with another full Time RVer! Happy Adventuring and thank you for watching and sharing your experience -Tammy
Ahhh! You sold my favorite 5th Wheel!!! Kinda makes sense though, I'm not moving toward a 390 RK until we have a permanent lot for it, when we don't travel as much. I wouldn't want to travel as much as we do now in that monster either. Our 34ft Super C Motorhome suits us great for now. But when I do go 5th Wheel, that 390 is the bomb!!!
Hi Tony! There was more than a few tears shed over selling her! We loved our gd and if we were planning on traveling less, we’d have kept her for sure! A super c sounds perfect for traveling though! Our new rig is just under 35ft and so much easier to tow and fit places. Sure appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! Happy and safe travels! Tammy
@@TilFurtherNotice When that time comes for us, my ideal set-up would be the 390 on a dedicated RV lot AND a nice Host Truck Camper for traveling to places where the 390 can't go and / or make sense.
Hello, we are in the same boat but the opposite. We have a Grand Design Imagine travel trailer. We love it and have had it for about 6 months; however, we are thinking about upgrading to a fifth wheel to feel safer. Pulling a travel trailer is hard and stressful. We have had on 3 different occasions the trailer feeling very unstable with a huge sway. We only travel at speeds ranging from 60 - 65 and it is sooo scary when we sway. My husband now wants to upgrade to a fifth wheel with a dually 😊 We shall see what happens, hopefully we can afford to upgrade soon. 😉 safe travels and exciting new adventures to you in your new rig 🙂
Hi Melissa! It’s so great to connect with you. That’s exactly the reason we didn’t go with the travel trailer! Our Dually and fifth wheel pull great. Are you full time RVers too?! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! Happy and safe travels -Tammy
Oh yea. We’re on our forth rig-in ten years. We started off tiny, the went big then bigger, now we ended up with a 24 foot class b+.. BT cruiser, this will be the last one, I think…
Hi Sue!! You have made me feel much better! So fun that you went bigger and ended up small again. Those B+ sure look fun and adventurous! We sure appreciate you sharing your story and stopping in to watch! Happy travels-Tammy
Wishing you luck. We’d like to get into RVing but so many decisions. Almost decided on a van. The stress of driving such a big rig would almost bring on a heart attack
Hi Connie! It’s quite a learning curve but it’s great once you get out and start exploring! Travel vans are great! We had a truck and camper that we took everywhere before we went full time and it was easy and fun! Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts. -tammy
Did you go from about 40’ to around 32’. Sometimes bigger, better and more high tech just computes to more issues. I have a 40’ solitude with 3 slides and I’ve probably put about 20,000 miles on it. I love it but yes I can see me getting a smaller driving unit. I really like the ford 550 magnitudes
Hi Nathan! We went from a 44ft to a 35 ft! Big difference for towing and maneuvering and fitting more places. Love the idea of a drive able too. We’ve done that before as well! Thank you for watching and sharing your experience!
Congrats on downsizing!! I know it would be the opposite for me with that big beautiful rig!! You will enjoy more freedom with a smaller rig, but your new one looks just as big to me! ;-) If we ever go to a dealer, I hope we get a salesman like Troy! LOL Oh no, I can't believe your kayak got stolen - so sorry guys!! We wish you many a happy adventure in your new home! 💙Terry and Terri
Hi T and T! Thank you!! It is still a good size home on wheels but so much shorter and we are already fitting into many more places! We will do a tour once we break it in and work out all of the issues with it 😏🤗 appreciate you both!! Safe travels!
Why is it that so many make this mistake? All our camping is dry and rough to access so ours is just under 30’ and a bumper-pull and one pop-out. Got to think things through. We can go to Disney land or deep off road where few go And a trailer I feel is (better) in case something needs worked on. If the tow rig needs worked on you still have a place to sleep, rarely does the trailer need such work that you can’t sleep in it
We traded in our Grand Design 390rk for a Vilano 320gk! Did we make a mistake?!
Why not a smaller Gran Design
Question was your Vilano preowned?
@@tinnersart7257 nope, but it sure seems like the dealership used it as a demo.
@@twbelieves this had a few things on our list the gd didn’t and really just hard finding RVs in this market made our choices more limited!
@Fear is not a Virtue hello! I love how positive you are! Thank you for making us smile today!
I love the sales person who brought his fortune telling ball and outfit.
Don't feel bad, nothing wrong with a small rig. Ours is only 27' but we can drive anywhere we want. Congrats and have fun!
Thank you! 27ft sounds like an ideal adventure rv!! I bet you have fun with that. Thanks so much for watching and happy travels!
@@TilFurtherNotice Likewise, guys! :-)
We started small. 24' class C with no slides. One weekend in constant rain made us look for a bit larger 30' class A. Love it.
Hi Bruce! Nice to connect with you! 30ft sounds just about perfect!! Are you full time like us?
@@TilFurtherNotice we are most timers, Workamping winters in south Texas and summers in our home state of Minnesota.
-Tammy
Some people just aren’t equipped mentally to handle big rigs. I’m glad you are finding your limitations.
@@TilFurtherNotice thank you! Safe travels to you!
Wow! It sounds like you are on a grand adventure and have the perfect set up!! Enjoy every minute and thanks so much for sharing your story!
We have the 390rk and just put it up for sale. I absolutely love this model but agree it’s just a huge beast. Granddesign truly makes the best rvs!
We bought the Grand Design 2600RB and love it! It's a 29" travel trailer and has been the perfect size for two.
That is awesome! Enjoy every moment!
@@AlParr_CTC sounds like you really get out and travel! That’s so great. If you see us out on the road, be sure to say hello!
Oh no this is the model we are looking at. Now we will have to rethink our plan..... What to do, this life is always a challenge with excitement.
You aren't alone. Unfortunately we are stuck in ours.
Hi Hal! Thanks for watching and letting us know we are not alone! You’ve got a big rig too?
We purchased a Flagstaff 526RK. 30 ft 5th wheel last year. We love it. We can just about go anywhere. Lots of room in the family room area. Smaller bedroom but we live in the family room. Prices are very high. We just were hostesses for our dealership for their open house. We couldn’t believe how much prices are compared to last year. They are out there. Deana.
Hello!! 30ft sounds like a great adventure size! Thank you for watching and happy travels to you! -Tammy
I’m a solo full timer in a 40’ Jayco Pinnacle. Wouldn’t trade it for anything smaller. Good luck with your new rv
Hi Joe! That’s amazing! We appreciate your support and happy travels! -Tammy
We started off with a Class B van. We had it 4 months and decided to go full-time. So, we traded our van for a 26' Class C and love it!
Hi Amanda! So nice to hear your experience! Thank you for sharing and happy travels!
Just purchased our first GD 280RKR 33’ and it’s perfect for couple with 2-dogs. It has tons storage and my hubby says breeze to pull :-)
Congrats! Enjoy every moment!
Congrats! As long that you guys are happy, that's what count.
Thank you! Appreciate you watching and your kind comment!
That’s awesome! I’m sure we will follow suit. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience too!
Hi Jane! Sounds like a great size rv! So great that you do the driving. I need to learn. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience-Tammy

-Tammy
That was a bummer seeing what happened to your truck.... Keep up the good work..😉👍👍👍👍🌻
Yes! But part of life unfortunately. Appreciate you watching!
@@TilFurtherNotice Sadly this is true my friend... Thank you for the great videos, I'm enjoying them😉👍
We did the opposite started out with a Grand Design 230RL 1/2 ton towable 28ft 2nd rig Grand Design 29RS 32ft perfect for us enjoy the new rig.
Hi Dody! 32ft sounds very ideal! So nice to connect with someone else out in the RV world. Thanks for watching and happy travels!
Enjoy your new home. I'm positive Scott is going to feel much more comfortable pulling this one. Keep on enjoying your lives. Keep on smiling. ✌️
Bill and Annee
Hi Bill and Annee! yes, Scott is in heaven pulling this rig! Thanks for your support and sending you love!
Wow. The sales people must love you guys.
Onwards….
Much love,
Lorrie 🙏🏻💕💫
Hello sweet Lorrie! Thank you for always sharing such thoughtful and kind messages! It’s all a journey and life experiences even the “not so good” parts. I guess the best any of us can do is be a kind person and try to share love and a spark of light in the world around us! Sending love your way 💕
Fortune cookie was for sight. I guess you got token care of. You will know all about your new RV and much more talented at fixing things.
Hi Gwyn and Gary! It was nice chatting with you. Have fun down south and thanks for following along! -Scott and Tammy
Thank you Mira!!!
Best of luck with the new rig. Many memories await. Stay well, stay safe.
Thank you for stopping by John! It's a great size, but boy have we had many issues! Working out the kinks while we travel and grateful for this opportunity!
Good luck with the New all the best
Thank you so much!
-Tammy
Congratulations!! 🎉🎈

Change can be emotional!! Sorry about the kayak!! Great to see you two though.
Hi Mike! 34ft is a great size to fit most places! Thank you for watching and sharing your experience!

Hi Kimberly! It’s really hard to know what you want and need until you get out there and do it! Good luck with your next rig and happy travels!
Got a 33 classic airstream
Pull it with a one ton
Can sell it for almost what we paid
Love it
Love it
Love it
Love those classic! We actually looked at those in our initial search. Enjoy!
Hi Dawn! Yes, thank you for following along! We sure appreciate all of the support and kind comments! Think the new rig is just tag a long 2 😉
I loved this video.
Beautiful place! Have a good day thanks for sharing 😀🌷
Thank you!
Great video of a very frustrating time. I'm thinking you need a new hope floats for Christmas...we'd love to help with that gift!
So sad to see all the problems with your new coach. I hope you send that video to Troy.
Yep, it’s been disappointing! I doubt he’s care. Thank you for following along!
Just found out Vanleigh closed it's doors yesterday! They will no longer produce a fifth wheel. They are staying with motorized RV's. I'm sure they will have parts for your coach!
Yes Ron! Thanks, we just posted a video about it 😉

@@fireincumbents that’s exactly one of the ideas we pondered! We used to have a truck camper and loved it! May be in our next phase!

Well they left the truck so that's a plus. I was staying at a place I had to take the computer out so it wouldn't get stolen.

As a sales person, I can tell you it is extremely common to trade out within a year. I’ve seen people do it within months.
Thank you! It’s nice to know we aren’t the only ones out there 😉. Appreciate your feedback! -Tammy

Hon Chinese food is the BEST sad food lol. You feel better WHEN eating it. Then AFTERWARDS the sadness comes back lol.
That is true 😂
We can go to Disney land or deep off road where few go
And a trailer I feel is (better) in case something needs worked on. If the tow rig needs worked on you still have a place to sleep, rarely does the trailer need such work that you can’t sleep in it
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! Yes! Under 30ft sound like a great adventure rig. Enjoy and happy travels-Tammy
