Good plans. My 'workshop' is the backyard of a mid-terraced house. After Christmas, I'll have a 3x3m pop-up tent for those less-than-ideal Scottish weather days. Take care & stay safe.
Hey John, I'm glad to see you back. I do enjoy your content and style. I also have small workshop challenges. I guess we would all love a bigger workshop. Anyway great to see you online again, all the best! Pantelis (London 🇬🇧).
Hi John, soooo damn good to see you back ‘in the saddle.’ You have been missed. Your presentation is as good as ever. Hopefully, now you have your second wind, we will see you more often! Take care and see you again soon. Len (Devon 🇬🇧)
im glad im not the only one that tidying involves wrecking every corner of the workshop and having it 10 times worse than when i started. its amazing how much room you can make sometimes by rearanging stuff. i wish my shop was as tidy as your even in its wrecked state a nice large roller door would be great between the spaces so you can open it up if your doing a larger project or ripping long material . i often seen them on done deal for 2-400. it wouldnt need to lock as such just seal in the dust and dirt. great to have you back and enthsiastic to be out there
Excellent video - thank you! I really liked seeing the dust extraction tubing... I'm a beginner so I've been using a small shop vac. This world of dust extraction tubing was a bit of a mystery to me, but seeing you work with them has been brilliant and inspired me to look into more. Thank you for sharing. Really appreciate your content.
Keep up the good work pal quite enjoy ur videos very down to earth . I'd consider putting ur plainer thicknesser against ur new wall in the middle then there's no rolling it around n u can handle long lengths of wood . To the left n right of plainer cheap kitchen cupboards also above loads of storage for you . Anyway that's my 2 pence Crack on 🍻
Hey John. Glad to see you're back at it. I'm an avid rider as well and balancing the 2 hobbies is tough. Keep it up. Enjoying watching your journey and taking us along for the ride.
Hi John, Great to see you back. We missed your presentations. My shop is in a bit of a mess and needs to organized so I’ll be watching your upcoming videos. By the way what will the dimensions of your new workshop space be ? Keep us inspired. Regards Paul
Great video... I found a chap who prints vac adapters.... he made me 110mm blast gates 110/100 and 110/63 reducers. If you want his details, let me know
Delighted to see you back john, looking forward to the workshop transformation. I have a similar size, 30 x 18 to work with so i feel you pain. My main shed is 45 x 30 but mostly taken up with campervan and other crap 😊 i started a youtube channel in recent months so understand how hard to mix worklife and pleasure/making vlogs, don't onow how you real youtubers do it.... Looking forward to your new content.
Great job there John, I hope it works out for you. I suppose you might find it a bit squishy for a while. I would like to expand my work shop because when I get into a mess like not putting my tools away after use straight away I am usually left with not much space. Looks like you are a good organiser though. The main thing is, enjoy yourself. hope we see you again before Christmas.
Hi John another flooring tip for a gym or your workshop are horse stall mats. Very similar stuff to what you have down but a 8 by 4 sheet for about the same money.
Great video John nice to see u back again. We've Al missed ya. I have question and a suggestion for you. First the suggestion. Carpet fitters underlay works really well as a floor subbase in workshop great cushioning for feet and incase dropping tools. The question is there any chance you could do some turning videos again. I've recently just got lathe and started turning. Am about go through your old turning video's after this but any advice would be very beneficial!👍🏴 Ps your workshop is not untidy compared mine it's majorly tidy. 👍🏴
Oh, BTW, John... Did you see Tamar's "dream workbench"? It's more or less how you described you're going to build yours. Perhaps you should take a look. 😉
Well as the saying goes, you have to make things worse before you can make them better. Always a compromise when working in smaller spaces, but at least you are moving to where you want to be.
Hi John, good to see you back again. A query on your idea for the lean-to for wood storage. If it is a traditional "lean to" it's gonna be open a good deal to the elements. Are you concerned about storing dried wood out there ? And you mentioned sheet goods - would you trust MDF outside (albeit roofed) ?
Hello, Wilber Jeffcoat South Carolina USA. I have a question, I’m using the Bosch track saw love it. I want to expand into the parallel guide system. I’m finding a very difficult to find someone who is making this accessory for Bosch, And I’m all in with the Bosch. So my question is do you know if TSO is making a parallel drive system for the Bosch track saw, or anyone else who is doing this. Or is there another track that will accept the Bosch TS that TSO is supporting. I really would appreciate your help on this thank you much. Cheers Wilber
I stopped to watch your youtube vid on this, looks like the best bet will be to go full to Festool trac to stop the hassle of resting the saw when switching between the two track systems. Have you done this?? Too many tools too much money. But all the fun to be had. Happy New Year, Wilber Across the pond 👴🏻🤗

Nice to see you back in the workshop
Thanks 👍
Nice to have you back John. Julien
A deadlift platform and dumbbell rack could be a couple of diy ideas worth considering.

Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great stuff John, great to see you back, missed the vids.
Cheers Barry
you could build a ground supported storage mezzinine in the peak of your roof there, might protect the wood better too

Great to see you back in your workshop. Is there going to be a dumbell rack as a future project? I saw them on the floor.
Its a possibility

It could be an issue, I may have to make it weather tight
I have to say that your definition of “a complete mess” escapes me. ;-)
Its was a complete mess, I probably didn't show enough of it
Yeah, mine looks like this most of the time. haha
Hey John, watched your mitre station build... brilliant... just planning some stuff.. the bottom "shute" where did you get that from?
Its Charnwood dust hood I believe
Hi John. What model is your pillar drill / hp ? Would you recommend it. Thanks
Hi Andrew its an old Record Power 1hp drill. I bought it second hand. Its a great drill, not sure they make them like that one anymore.
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. Great to see you back.
@@andrewgibbons8159. I have the same drill. Solid cast, very basic but very well made and accurate!

The Bosch saw will fit on the Makita and Festool rails, I use the Fetool rails on my MFT table with my Bosch saw.
“Thank You” this just solved my situation and stopped a loy of needless searching. Happy New Year Mate. Wilber 👴🏻
