This is a really nice design! Have to admit I was skeptical because it looks so easy but gave it a try and found your design really is just this simple and easy to make. I am extremely pleased with the results and my new clamp rack is a huge improvement in my shop. Your measurements and tips are spot on and perfect; thank you for a great how-to video! I look forward to seeing more on your channel. Cheers!
Great video. You should protect your eyes. Am talking from experience after being lucky of not getting blinded by a flying splinter while cutting on a mitre saw.
Thanks! I’m using scrap plywood cut and laminated into plywood 2x4s to build your design. I just have more scraps of long plywood pieces than 2x4s sitting around in my shop. Great video!
Now you have 10001 subscribers, nice shop and like the videos. Recently gutted my shop and started over from scratch, your clamp rack came just at the right time, thanks!
Hello John, I have been looking for something like this for a long time. not sure how it works so a close up of the clamps hanging would be a help. Great idea though. Brian
Hi John, another great build. I have the same problem - clamps all over the place, now I you have solved my problem. I guess you need access to the double sockets !!
Loved the video. Since making it, have you got more clamps? Was wondering if staggering the vertical spacing layout might allow for more clamps as you add more. Keep up the great work. Love the channel.
Neat idea. Worth getting the 2 by 4s just to make the shop tidier (and safer), never mind using up scrap lengths. Your shop's looking really good, John!
Excellent stuff, John! I definitely need to do something similar myself because I'm really struggling with Clamp Paradox: I never have enough clamps when I'm building something, but when I'm not, they're feckin' everywhere and I'm tripping over them all the time.
Very quick and easy rack. Great job and used up scrap as well! I do have to say my OCD alarm was going insane with you covering up your power outlet tho. LOL My wife immediately pointed that out and said there was no way I'd be able to live with that. She's right. But I have lots of OCD hang-ups that she likes to point out. haha. So no worries man! Great video and nice shop too!
Great build John 😁. I love builds that are quick and rewarding and just use up your scraps of 4x2.... (or 2x4... depending where you are in the world 😂🤣). Mitre station looks like it's working a treat (saw station envy is kicking in 🤔). I think I need a bigger shop..... and you need lots more clamps (you can never have enough 😁). Stay safe John 😁👍
I guess you really don't use those two sockets very often, right!? 🤨😉 Never mind the OCD I saw someone else mentioning, I'm pretty sure my extension leads would stage a protest march if I were to try something like that! 😏🤭
Hi John , another great vid, towards the end you mentioned that your wall is only OSB so you were concerned about strength. Just a suggestion, if you were to attach the horizontal 2x4 to two vertical 2x4s, you would increase the overall holding power and put less concentrated strain on the wall. Keep up the good work , always look forward to your projects
Another great video John, one comment for the future, when your screwing why not turn the timber around so it faces you, so much easier. Thanks for sharing
Visually impaired can’t see just taking up wood turning come across your TH-cam station and love it. Subscribe so so been watching a lot of your door should I say listen to a lot of your TH-cam clips. As want to do a lot with wood again. Like your benches and your storage love to be able to see them but I’ll listen to it and get a pretty good idea of what you say and put a picture in my head.
John McGrath yeah absolutely brilliant if you could that would be awesome. But you’re quite good at explaining stuff anyway. Listen to the router table wouldn’t mind trying to work how to do one of them. It’s probably easier using a router on the table and it would be loose now without any site.. Got bit lost when it come to the fence and for the dust extractor where couldn’t see pictures couldn’t quite realise what you was talking about.. And have you ever done anything on your rolls of sandpaper. As trying to work out how to store rolls of sandpaper when I get some neatly in order of grit and a way of having somewhere to make it easier to cut a straight piece off. Little challenge for you. Stay safe at this time and keep up the great work good TH-cam clips and I love the one with the glass gate sorry quick question on that the rubber did you attach it to the piece of ply you slide to stop?, Going by the description I think that’s what you did but not too sure
Hello John, a comment on mitre saw, not the rack. It would be a good idea to place some mesh over the dust outlet to catch any small pieces of wood going into the dust extraction ducts.
Thought about you yesterday. I got the weirdest wiring job in my garage...house is only 10 years old so it’s gotta be a mistake. Summary: three way outside lights that oppose each other (one light comes on while the other goes off) and the only way to turn outside lights on is turn garage outlets off ( same switch)😳🤔 bizarre. Now I gotta pretend like I’m a sparky (what we call electricians). Nice video btw. Built one for my yard tools.
I've always liked what that style of clamp rack looked like, mine is way simpler, just a 4' piece of strapping attached to the wall with two short pieces of 2x4 and the clamps just hang anywhere on it.
Excellent John. If I didn't know you were an electrician by day I certainly would of guessed it seeing how many screws you use to hold the rack up. Keep it up. One question comes to mind, what's the story with your intro music?
Hi John , great little project I have been wondering how to put my couple of clamps together as I am fed up of watching them slide along the wall as I attempt to stand them up. The saw station looks fantastic ( god I would love a bigger workshop ! ) Stay safe ATB
Thanks glad you liked it. I have looked a french cleats seems like a good modular system, it's something I would like the try in the future when I find the right project.
is it just me or is shop organisation just incredibly adicting and satisfying. a simple build but still nice and satisfying to watch. keep em coming!
An organised shop is a nice place to be!
Hi John, love your simple and functional clamp rack. I built one for my shop with leftover pieces of 2×4's. Thank you for the idea.
Glad to help

Shop is looking great now John...fabulous work, well done and the hair grew back so fast :)
Thanks. I am looking for an EZ rack and I believe this fits my needs.
Great video thanks
Best and simplest sturdy clamp rack.
Great job. Great clamp rack. So glad you posted this vid as it's just what I need to get my clamps organized.
No problem glad it was useful

great idea! can't wait till I have enough clamps to need a rack for them 😭😂
Nice and easy
Sure is.

This is known as the woodworkers paradox.

Everytime I hear that intro I Bob my head 🕺🏼along to the tune 😁
I love the axe🙂
Awesome job, John! That's actually a great idea! 😃
Soon enough I'm going to have to make something like that as well! 😬
Anyway, stay safe there! 🖖😊
Just what I need, great idea! Thanks mate, stay safe!
No problem 👍
defo need to build one for my workshop thanks

Hi Wil, I plan to do just that as soon as I can get my hands on some.
Mixed up wires in the switch it sounds like
John McGrath I hope it’s that easy. Supposed to rain here tomorrow so I’ll be inside and give it hell.
I've always liked what that style of clamp rack looked like, mine is way simpler, just a 4' piece of strapping attached to the wall with two short pieces of 2x4 and the clamps just hang anywhere on it.
Mine is kind of too minimalist it's like some IKEA inspiration almost
Excellent John. If I didn't know you were an electrician by day I certainly would of guessed it seeing how many screws you use to hold the rack up. Keep it up.
One question comes to mind, what's the story with your intro music?
I put in a lot more screws then 3 lol, the intro music was just on the site I used to build the intro, I liked it so went with it.
Hi John , great little project I have been wondering how to put my couple of clamps together as I am fed up of watching them slide along the wall as I attempt to stand them up. The saw station looks fantastic ( god I would love a bigger workshop ! ) Stay safe ATB

good video!! Have you thought of incorporating frech cleat? Im using it a lot
Thanks glad you liked it. I have looked a french cleats seems like a good modular system, it's something I would like the try in the future when I find the right project.
Hi
Who says 4x2? haha thanks for the video
it looks like you’ve done something with your miter saw dust capturing… have you added something to miter saw to improve dust collection?
I built a hood around it and added more extraction. I have a video on the mitre saw station
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed I saw the miter saw station build, I’m referring to what appears right behind the blade... rubber material
Hi John, Love the videos. What make are the quick clamps. You mentioned in another video that they are as good as Irwin, for half the cost. Thanks
Tala tools
Now that it’s been a year, would you do your clamp rack any different?
Only if I wanted to make it more complicated but it works great, it's not very pretty but it works
still nothing on the shelf John; lol stay safe
One of these days Stewart 😉
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed just keeping you on your toes lol. stay safe!
