    Looks like you have a relatively calm and peaceful activity to keep you busy as long as the baler doesn't give you issues.

    I hear the monotony in your voice ;) I've got a small respite from baling until the stubble clover. I got the "new" baler, then took custom jobs until it was paid for! Now it just leaves the barn for me

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every year I tell my wife no more custom work, but each year the few guys I bale for talk me into it. The worst part is my hay usually gets put on hold until theirs is done

    Good looking hay. Lots a good hay around this year. I start cutting haygrazer tomorrow. I went to a variable core on my round baler and it makes a world of difference starting a baling in dry conditions

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish mine had the variable core! Good luck with your haygrazer, hope it yields great. I cut my sorghum sudan yesterday, wow, I did not realize how much water it can hold! Juices were running off the rolls in the haybine!

  • @coreytrout3857

    That's some pretty good hay to be in for custom work most time you have to drive your tires off to make a bale. Back when that Sudan was new a neighbor decided to direct chop a field a blew it in an upright silo. A boat could have floated in the juice that came out 😂

    "Hay" it's good to hear from you! You about need some gathering wheels on that baler with that wide of a windrow! Sure makes a bale fast when it gets started tho! Thanks for the update!

      This year I have had a lot of conversations with 60 year old Farmer's that have never worked off the farm in their life that are thinking of going to be a greeter at Walmart or at the co-op just to find a little extra income. Everyone's nervous how this fall is going to turn out

    I don't know if you've seen Ted kahler but if he's seeing you pushing that clutch in oh boy I think we just drive him into fits. I bet he'd be driving his Magnum with his chin turn down to his one shoulder making funny click noises with his mouth. LOL

  • @garritt8772
    @garritt8772 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Starting the bale was always a problem with the new holland balers. Had a deere baler and now have a claas never had any problems with either no matter what I baled. To many rollers in the front belts don't contact hay quickly enough.

  • @ryckmanangusranch4349
    @ryckmanangusranch4349 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice looking hay. You guys get 10 a bale. We get 13 for a net wrapped bale. Have a good day. Nice hearing from you.

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get 10 a bale for hay and 12 a bale for corn stalks. Some days I think I should stop doing the custom baling, but when they hand you the check you look forward to baling the next field! This year has had its problems tho, the main shaft and sprockets broke and I had to replace all the belts, plus when you add in fuel and netwrap $10 a bale doesn't seem like enough!

    • @ryckmanangusranch4349
      @ryckmanangusranch4349 5 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @brianhansen826

    Yall are having summers like we do in Oklahoma. I never bale in the heat of the day, baler hates it, hay just crunches and makes puff balls, I always wait till about 930- 10 o'clock at night when the dew has set in. It will bale much nicer and and way more dense

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Super dry hay is challenging compared to wet hay. When I am baling silage bales there is never issues starting the core. Normally our humidity is so bad that after dark the hay feels like it got a 1/4 inch of rain on it

    • @brianhansen826
      @brianhansen826 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LVFFarmVlogs I've seen the dew heavy enough to make the tires completely soaked and hay still running around 10-12 percent moisture, you should slip down to the field some night and try it, it will surprise you.

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A gram scale and wood chipper or chopper is one way, or a moisture tester and a pail that you can pack a bunch of sorghum in then use the moisture probe to test

    Ted Kahler is right . He knows those New Holland balers very well. Weld those bars on and you will have a hay eating baler.

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't, my baler has the slice knives so my starter roll is not the round roller like his. I'll make a video when I hook it back up to the tractor. I might try welding more round stock to the bottom roller and see if that helps. The factory ones are probably wore down some
