We had one of these on a farm I worked on in high school. It leaked every fluid you put in it.

My father in law restored his about 35 years ago. It was used often until a couple years ago. He is in a home now and we will be selling it unfortunately.

Love those old Fords! They were excellent tractors! A pity Ford decided to get out of the Ag business.

Being an old licensed Ag tech I did my apprenticeship in and worked in a ford dealership, in the early 80's. Did some minor work on the 6000's, but watched some of the more experienced techs get into transmissions. I was asked to bring in a 6000, it was at the very end of the yard I was a little puzzled when there were 2 techs watching me bring it in. I don't remember which gears I selected either 4th going to 5th or 5th going to 6th. When I selected the higher gear that tractor instantly went about 2 feet in reverse then launched forward. Well what are apprentices for. That job required the transmission to be tore completely down to replace a couple of O-rings. The other thing that was pointed out to me was the hydraulic accumulator, it stayed charged for quite a while and would lift the link arms as fast as you pulled the lift lever. A gas vs a diesel you will not need to replace the flywheel torque limiter with a gasser.

if you’re going to talk about it you need to also mention the issues with the transmission and why it was renamed to commander

I have one for parts near Dayton Ohio. Has a new crank, input shaft in transmission, new wiring harness, extra hood, rebuilt fuel pump set up 10%, and a bunch of extra seals and gaskets. Name your price and come and get it.

    Pretty uncommon tractor nowadays.

Thats the worst tractor Ford ever made especially with the sos transmission. If it would have had the 8 speed transmission it probably would have done better.
