Detorno, nice! I miss my 580 se. Broke my heart when she left.

I am very happy with mine. I will be rebuilding all of the cylinders at some point in the not too distant future. The front bucket keeps dropping when I go to lift anything, and several others have leaking wipers. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

Thank you Detorno, this is amazing. I bought one of these - CASE 580SE - a couple of years ago. I love this machine. The brakes need work right now, as well as the ignition switch. I'm looking forward to more of your videos if you have any. Mine is a 1984 model with the serial number being 9868621. Larry

Okay, I read and responded to your second comment first. The 1984 model, I am almost certain, has dry brakes, and I don't believe you need to get into the transfer area. Though if the brakes truly need to be replaced and not just adjusted, you will need strong help and/ or other heavy equipment around.

Bought one of these in 1986 brand new and it was a great machine exactly like yours ! It was my number one machine until about 1990 and I bought a 580 super K , then my 580 super E became my back up machine until 1995 I bought a 580 Super L ! My super E had about 7000 hours on it when I traded it off and was still running great !

I like my machine, though it doesn't seem to have the power that I think it should. Bought seal kits to rebuild all of the cylinders that I haven't done yet. Will see if that helps. Hopefull that it isn't the spool valve leaking by. Or it might be the hydraulic pump getting tired. If I have to rebuild that it just mean a learning experience and more channel content 😁

@@detornodoes I do have to say we never replaced hydraulic pump on that machine but you do have to check hydraulic filter regularly but you don’t know what kind of life that machine had before you got it. It had a great engine in it the Cummins engine the only thing we did was 100 hour oil changes Air and fuel filters and rebuild cylinders you know the regular stuff !!

If you have the time, could you watch my moving day video and let me know your thoughts on whether you think it should have been able to do what I was asking of it?
When I attempted to lift with the boom, it would not, and if I used the extendahoe the boom would pull down, leading me to believe that the boom cylinders are leaking by.

I'm looking at one with 7500.hrs no ext hoe or 3in1. 4x4 clean taken care of. Anything I should look for in it?

Any visible leaks, look at the hoses for cracks in the outer cover. Check the end of all the cylinders (wiper seal on the gland nut) for dry or missing pieces. None of these things are a deal breaker just expensive when they let go especially if you can't repair it yourself . Check to make sure it can go in and out of 4 wheel drive, the linkage rod is kind of a joke. Any service records is a plus. Fluid changes are done by hours, make sure the meter works (mine didn't when I got it). If you have never run heavy equipment, it is not as powerful as you think it should be (at least not as powerful as my expectations). A thumb (depending what you are doing with i) is a great addition and not having the extend-a-hoe will make install easier.

Don’t forget your own health, a farmer once said to me one time that farmers will always make sure every piece of machinery they have is well maintained and working properly but they never check their own health which is more important than any machine, take care.

Never had one to use, so I don't know the benefit. But it is supposed to have it and I try to keep my equipment as it should be . Currently, it seems to have low power (see moving day). I purchased seal kits to rebuild all of the cylinders that I have not done yet. If that doesn't improve things, then I will most likely have to rebuild the hydraulic pump.

There may be a sticker where you enter the cab that says or you can find the serial number and look it up on line. Knowing the year can be helpful if it is at the beginning or end of the production of the model. Mine is a late 1988 and the 580K came out in 89. Some of the things on it are K parts like the brakes.
