Yeah! Easy Red II kicks ass! Everyone who plays it completely underestimates it and is blown away, the Devs and player base have so much heart and passion, and it being as rough around the edges only makes it more endearing!
Some historical context for the first Tunisia mission: the first battle of the campaign took place at Medjez-el-Bab on 19 November 1942, where the Vichy French Commandement Supérieur des Troupes de Tunisie (or CSTT, convoluted name for the division stationed in Tunisia) decided to make their stand after slowly evacuating men and materiel westward throughout the previous week after Axis forces began landing in Tunisia. After Operation Torch and until that point, it was not 100% clear whether the Vichy North African Army would rejoin the Allies, or just remain neutral under Allied (Algeria/Morocco) or Axis (Tunisia) occupation. Medjez was at a crucial geographical juncture and also within reach of approaching Allied forces, so General Georges Barré, commanding the CSTT, decided to make his stand there and refuse the German ultimatums on the morning of 19 November, signaling the French Army's reentry into the war (aside from the small Free French fighting since 1940). The 5th Fallschirmjäger Regiment launched their attack at 10:45am. The French infantry and armor holding the town were reinforced at 2:00pm by British paratroopers of the 1st Parachute Battalion, represented in the later phases of the mission. The Allies managed to hold the town against the attack, but chose to evacuate it the next day to consolidate their lines. There was a failed British counterattack on 24 November. Like the Allies on the 20th, the Germans then decided to consolidate their lines and pulled from Medjez on the 26th upon which it was reoccupied by the Allies, though the area would remain contentious and near the frontline all the way through spring 1943.
Agreed, this is my favorite WWII game as well. Another thing this game does really well is give you the sense of chaos during an enemy push, then the slight hush between storms while the enemy prepares for their next wave. You get to catch your breath, and then the smoke canisters start landing around you, and you know what’s coming next. Enduring an incoming artillery barrage while healing your fellow soldiers while under small arms fire; it’s glorious!
Saw the Battle of Kwajalein on there and immediately was in. I Lived on Kwajalein Island for 5 years as a kid and we heard about the Japanese fortification of the island and were still able to see some of the old concrete bunkers dotted about the Atoll but that it made it into a Video Game is super cool to me!!! It also gave me Hell Let Loose flashbacks though lol
Good to see you enjoying WW2 content- particularly flight combat content. I really do hope you return to your unfinished IL-2 1946 Ironman RAF campaign some day. You got right up to the day before the biggest dogfight in human history and just... stopped. It's such a good and gripping series to watch and deserves a proper send-off.
I'm pretty sure Pointe du Hoc actually had a higher percentage of attacker casualties than Normandy did. So it's nice to see that reflected in-game. Also I was itching for some good WW2 action after HLL fell through, so I may have to try this one
He is a gold dog tag, yes. A couple times in this video you'll see gold dog tag icons, like on the left at 13:11. If you go up and loot the body they're on with the Use key (F), you'll unlock that person and their unique equipment loadout as a usable kit for next time you play that map.
Honestly this feels like a more fleshed out BF1942 and that was one of my first and favorite PC games I ever played. Im super excited to try for myself
Man I hope this game does well enough that for a sequel they can hire some additional engineers and coders to clean up the technical performance and issues with the AI. It's otherwise such an incredible concept
This game at its core is excellent, but it definitely could use some improvements to smooth out some of its rougher edges (like the unusualy slow and inconsistent aiming animations and the terrible A.I.). Overall, this is best budget Battlefield-like game that I've come across so far.
Do you want budget OR consistency? You cannot have both. Either you pay a decent price for a decent game or you will accept what you are given and say nothing but "thank you". Don't be a cheapskate and don't be greedy. "People" like you are ruining games expecting everything for free, never happy with anyone's efforts. You should be ashamed of yourself.
This game is just inspirational. The fact AAA gaming as a whole doesn't even compare to this game is just so fucking sad. Marco and his team just does everything right. With a few notable exceptions I'm done with AAA bullshit. I'm just gonna be chilling playing good AAA and good indie games like Easy Red II. You all should do the same!
You do not get to tell devs how to make their games. You are not qualified to judge any game, let alone AAA. Just enjoy the game or don't, that's it. Other than that you have nothing of worth to say and nobody should listen to you.
Aside from the cannons SFX and the fairly braindead AI, this does look pretty neat. I've been spoiled by Gates of Hell: Ostfront when it comes to tank and artillery audio.
I must say, being a huge fan of WW2 video games, consoles are terrible. PC gamers have it made. Ps5 has cartoon kiddy games like COD. BF5 had potential, but died because of fragile coward devs. Sad.
One of the coolest details is that during the battles in Italy you can play as the Polish forces and they speak in Polish and all have Polish names
Poles? Were they a part of the Home Army?
@@smokeyplane3285 Polish Armed Forces in the West

It's made by a single developer

Absolutely! This game needs more reckognition. Playing it for last 2 months and it's fantastic.
I just got it got it was on sale(it's only $8). It's a lot of fun, just wish there were more players

Awesome! Like old school Battlefield with squad mechanics like Brothers in Arms. Looks like loads of fun!! Thanks for sharing.

Most underrated game the devs are amazing
As a Canadian, I took "I'm not going to commit a war crime and shoot them" personally

Always remember to loot the legendary dogtags bodies

Pointe du Hoc is in Normandy ...
1:49:05 Anzio, loads and loads of fields. Sounds about right. I wonder if Audie Murphy is in the name pool for that campaign.

Anzio is getting reword to be more historical accurate

17:08 “They’re going to give me a Victoria cross for this!”
I’m dying here Dave. 😆
Leutenant Danny Botheridge
Ive actually spelt that wrongly, it should be Brotheridge. Missed the R
I just got this 3 days ago and I love it
old skool ✌🏻✌🏻

Very enjoyable!
So, from what I can gather, the Scotts were literally everywhere in every battle, fighting people from Arizona

.......IMAGINE an F4F out turning an A6M?
13:11 get the dog tag, get the dog tag. Why isn't he getting the dog tag. Why!!!!
Marco needs to make the icon 100 times bigger LUL

I have subscribed to mods but I can't find them in the game
I'm thinking about getting this. Is online good??
Are you going to go back to Star Wars empire at war story
Gluupor wonky
Hey i saw you in KOTOR
Aside from the cannons SFX and the fairly braindead AI, this does look pretty neat. I've been spoiled by Gates of Hell: Ostfront when it comes to tank and artillery audio.
I know it's nitpicky but the canadian soldier doing the mad minute with the Lee Enfield annoy me.

This game is coming to PlayStation, the dev said he was trying to get it released around Christmas of this year.
You sound like the average console player. Stay there, you are not welcome on PC.
Nope
Yep, and there's nothing you can do to change that. Sit and spin.
