@lukaszw1 Thanks for watching. Yeah, I'm back, new channel. I was in Poland for a week and got some new material. Gdansk there are three of four videos out right now. Then on to the next city. Glad you found me again.
As a Pole living in Gdansk I can't help adding a little boast. Wielki Młyn (The Great Mill) which you saw at the beginning of your walk was the largest industrial plant in Europe during the Middle Ages and functioned until the end of WWII. St. Mary's Basilica is believed to be the largest brick church in the world. Its tower is 78 m high and it can hold up to 25,000 people
The bells might be coming from the only carillons in Poland, which are in Gdańsk, in the town hall, and, the biggest in this part of Europe, in St Catherine 's Church.
4:10 Hevelius not Copernicus, gdańsk was a home to many famous scientists in opposition to the church but it has some really worthy deals with the Kings. Fahrenheit and Hevelius are just examples. Ancient Greek sculptures are also a pinch to churches' nose it was bald at the time
Not everyone is looking for the letters when they see the monument. I for one was more focused on the constellations and still am. I had to have Google Maps tell me it was Copernicus. @zbigniewpillow6692
@pb218 That sucks :( I wish I had noticed. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll have to look next time I'm in the same area. Never knew that fact.
1. They let you into two churches. I assume you went to confession 🤔 2. "I'm sure this is going to be the best view ever" - and then this construction fence 😅🤣😂 3. Rolnicy strajkują w całej UE przeciwko tzw. "Zielonemu ładowi" i importowi zboża i innych produktów rolnych z Ukrainy. Chcieli kupować taniej gaz a potem sprzedawać go drożej takim krajom jak Polska, Czechy, Węgry. Teraz Niemcy chcą zarabiać na żywności 😞😞🙁🙁😡😡😢😢😢😢
@nonperson22 I felt really upset that I said it's going to be a great view to only have it ... be ruined. I let you down. Thank goodness I was able to get into two churches to make up for it. 3. I was not aware of the Green Deal. That's not a positive development. I didn't know about the other protests as I thought it was just Poland protesting. I am not surprised Germany is trying to make money of the situation. Wow. Thanks for sharing all of this for me to better understand.
@@TravelwithMrJon Some people are just political fanatics which live in a world of imaginary conspiracies. The myth of Germans which constantly try to rob and destroy us is very popular amongst such people here in Poland. In fact polish farmers are the group with most benefits from EU funds, which led to huge increase in their prosperity over last 2-3 decades. The Green Deal is not a German law, it is a EU law, signed by all 27 countries, including Poland of course. Such a vast regulation trying to reconcile different interest will always lead to some groups unsatisfied with some aspects of it, but it is just the nature of the thing, not wrong doings of The Treacherous Germans.
@ramatgan1 Grey at times, depressing, I don't agree. There is more to the city to see and well the winter months are always tough, everywhere if no snow on the ground.
No way! I used to follow your videos everyday in autumn. And now you're in my city? What a treat! I'm watching!

@@TravelwithMrJon I'm glad too. I've introduced my brothers to your videos in hope to get them into Jonathan Kuiper's lore. They'll get there!

We debated this earlier in the thread.... @andrewmarines6391
Everyone who can read the letters of the Latin alphabet knows that this is the monument of Johannes Hevelius (in Polish: Jan Heweliusz).
Not everyone is looking for the letters when they see the monument. I for one was more focused on the constellations and still am. I had to have Google Maps tell me it was Copernicus. @zbigniewpillow6692
22:32 You didn't even notice that you passed the column with the thermometer of Gabriel Daniel Fahrenheit, who was born and lived in Gdańsk.☝🏻🤷♂️
@pb218 That sucks :( I wish I had noticed. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll have to look next time I'm in the same area. Never knew that fact.

You should more time to explore Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia, Hel, Waldyslawowo and Kaszuby
@michalkosmita5194 I made a Sopot video as well if you look. And explored more of Gdansk on this visit as well.
@@TravelwithMrJonhave you been to Wrocław my friend. Up the Penitents bridge. Although high. It’s marvellous.
Not yet. When I return to Poland, I'll visit. It was on my list when I moved to the country but never got there. @@callumkent7155
Not Copernicus but Hevelius. Astronomer from Gdańsk . XVII century. 100 years after Copernicus
@karolkowalczyk33 As you might note in the thread, there is a debate on the astronomer.
