I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for you. Great work on your part! I try to remember why I´m doing this in times like these. Helps me stay motivated
Just imagine if one of The Ocean Cleanup Interceptor Trash barriers they installed kept getting cut loose by the local government. The world would be outraged....one day the world will know the whole story here. Until then going back to Bohol Island where I have full support. Keep picking up that trash my fellow Eco Warrior.
They are only doing what they were ordered to do, it comes down from the very top. Only DENR, Dept of Environment and natural resources support and endorse my trash Kabooms and efforts. Sadly they cannot enforce only pass violations down to the local Government,,,which are the ones violating the clean water ways act RA9003, no releasing of trash into the ocean. ,,,Kinda crazy ,,,I know.
Camiguin is such a sad example of how not to treat the environment. Saddest thing is you would be there to help, If they were less lazy and cared more about it they could've had a working system by now. It's really not that much necessary apart from a good central collection point, segregation, and reliable gargabe haul. If that was done, there would be so much less trash ending up in the canals in the first place, making it easier to maintain them.
I was just thinking what about if you used a hook to tie the kaboom? So at least they don't cut the rope anymore. Hmm... they would probably unhook it, release the trash and (hopefuly) hook it up again. At least it wouldn't break your back ...
Maybe you started with too much too fast. Now that we see people around there aren’t on board with saving trash from ocean, you should just work on educating the neighborhood for awhile. Then maybe through peer pressure people will refrain from cutting your rope. 🤔
Yes I did start of with a bang, 6 trash Kabooms and 2 recycle cages my first year. We had to stop that trash...With support we could of had 30 or more trash Kabooms and 70 single stream recycle cages all over the island by now. ,,for what they spent on 16 non functional cages that kept blowing over. I think I have enough material for a good book,,maybe a movie deal even hehe.

Amazing the local government wants to turn Camiguin into a garbage dump island. Your a hero Richard

Then just remove it why bother.
