    I just finished reading this issue and i must say i really liked it! I love how they're exploring the religious side of the eternals. I kinda understand where Ajak's coming from, she believed in the celestials for almost a million year and now thats gone. Her devotion and purpose was worth nothing. I also really like the way they incorporated the new way vs old way of belief with ajak and makkari. Its kinda like real life religions honestly.

    Jesus Christ! So to fit with their Gender/Race-Swapping Movie they are now ret-conning it so that Ajak was ALWAYS A CHICK!!!

    I'm always gonna love how the Eternals always have this nuances when they interact with the wider Marvel universe. When Ajak sees the crazy Jason Arron 1 billion Avengers team, she's got this interaction that says "Oh... You're a thing that exists.
    this interaction isn't really I'm superior than you tiny creatures, but rather it's indifference or benign acceptance that the planet has made these heroes and they seem to be doing the heavy lifting of our jobs, so that's good.
    It's so cool because the Celestials and Eternals are pretty much seen as the strangers of this universe and that's pretty consistent given how the Eternals were developed as a separate entity that existed in their own universe.

    The interior art in this issue is substandard and kinda poor.

      It’s established that when Eternals die, they can resurrect with different forms, sometimes they change genders and even races.

    I'll never really understand about the death of the Eternals in the beginning of Jason Arron Avengers. The revelation they weren't the most important things on the planet causes them to kill themselves really doesn't make sense.
    The Eternals new mission being that they must protect the life of humans as they are likely to evolve to become superior beings like mutants, mutates, magical, or cosmic beings really doesn't change their original mission as overseers of the planet.
    Regardless of that, I like this biblical tale of the Eternals here and hope it remains the same even with different writers.

    Problem with this issue: Ajak is NOT female, Makkari is NOT female. The fact they have decided to genderbend these Celestials just to pander to the MCU fandom... it's insulting. It's disgusting.

    • @mcpics4448
      @mcpics4448 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They literally explain how eternal change throughout each resurrection
      It would be insulting and disgusting if they if they weren’t Z-list level character in the most niche side of marvel outside the celestials
      But sure pretend they were that interesting before

    • @ManelGabriel
      @ManelGabriel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mcpics4448 For your information, I have been a fan of the Eternals since the late 70s. I have read every single story written about and have deplored the fact they were not more popular with the masses. At NO POINT in the history of the Eternals, have they changed gender, race, hair color even. They were eternal and immutable. And to pretend for even one second that this whole "continuous" change is anything anything but a ploy to shamelessly plug that god awful Eternals MCU movie IS an insult to the fans' intelligence.

    • @mcpics4448
      @mcpics4448 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Manel Gabriel THEY LITERALLY EXPLAIN THAT IN THE first issue of this relaunch and they applied with the Neil Gaiman stuff
      And you dare talk about read it all and you didn’t even paid attention to said LINES
      Also put yourself with the MCU hate on a movie that not even out yet who written by a award winning director but hey superficial thing are what important to z-lister like the eternals here

    • @ManelGabriel
      @ManelGabriel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mcpics4448 Hey, take a chill pill kiddo. I'm being 100% objective here. And no, they don't explain it, not in any sufficiently clear way or even partially clear way. Yes, they die and resurrect. They die and resurrect. They don't die, are arbitrarily assigned a morphism, and then resurrect. And if you can't understand that, or if you can but are perfectly okay with, then all the better for you. But it's just not for me. Not after the better part of 4 decades reading and collecting comics. To have characters I have assiduously followed all this time changed because of a film... yeah, not my cup of tea.

    I just recently started reading the Eternals, don’t think the stories are bad. Really didn’t appreciate the gender swapping just to match the movies. Don’t like that when they do it, I don’t believe that’s how Jack Kirby wanted to be. But all in all once again have enjoyed this run.

    • @ed299
      @ed299 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I mean, its established now that they can change the way they look, including their sex every 25k years. So i dont think it diminishes the way Kirby wrote them.
