- Laser canon is easily one of the best support weapons against automatons this update in helldivers 2. I ran a poll to see how many people used it, or saw it in games. And it ranked under 25%. But this is my most used main weapon against bots. You can easily defeat hulks, gunships, and factory striders with this. Free up your backpack slot and stop running the auto canon. As well as the best backpack loadouts for this weapon.

don't talk about the laser weapons, everyone agrees they're all terrible, the absolute worst, complete and utter garbage, and definitely don't need attention from the balance team.

The worst loadout I've ever used was triple laser. You can't kill anything. Always feel like a weight on the squad.
There's absolutely nothing cool about 3 lasers flying around at once. It's boring.
I, for one, hate energy weapons! They’re all super boring and not fun at all. I think the balancing team should focus on something else, since we all know that these laser weapons are all useless anyways

Supply pack with stuns nades is goated. Remember it isn’t just ten nades- it’s ten nades PLUS the resupply drops and fresh supply pack drops. Pair it with the pummeled and you’re a CC dispenser.
The pummeler and the splash shotty thing(forget the name) are goated.
If you are fighting bugs, the supply pack with impacts is goated. The Laser Cannon can handle most bugs well enough. The impacts are good for the bug holes and if you get a bunch of spewers. One nade can kill several in one shot. That said, the endless stims are just as good as the nades. You are almost always going to take hits from hunters. Take medic armor, a incen breaker and a Senator and would have a weapon to deal with anything. In my case, I run that set-up with a Quasar over the Laser though, That lets me take Eagle Airstrike and the Orbital railgun for more flexibility.,
I like using the E.A.T because when you die as much as me you don’t have to wait long for a cool down or have to go looking for the one you dropped
In groups EAT is great. Solo, 2 shots a minute just feels too restrictive. That said basically no reload and if you are already carrying you can litter the landscape worth “spares” (break the stand and it gives you a map icon).
@@IRMentat I run both auto cannon and EAT. I use EAT like a 2 charge orbital railgun. The moment I see a flare, or a factory strider in the distance, I immediately call it down. I use both charges immediately then swap back to the auto cannon.
The nice thing is you can take down two dropships by yourself with this.

Glad someone finally realized the power of the dagger and ballistic. Plasma punisher, dagger, LC and ballistic shield. That combo has no weakness versus bots

Plasma punisher already chews through heavy devastators which is the main niche of the ballistic shield, might as well just bring a different backpack or the autocannon at that point
@@nolimbsjohnny nah, punisher is 5 shots for devastators. Only good if multiple are right beside each other or your bursting down a rocket devastator. Punisher is for berserkers and striders mostly

@@Nacissic If you have the shield stowed it blocks shots from behind, so while you'll unloading the plas punisher forward you are actually safe from behind >.>. Unless rockets are involved... then you are never safe from being turned into a hacky sack.
Laser cannon is one of my favorite support weapons to use against bots. It just so good. It really comes into its own when you bring stun grenades. As long as you don't try to use it without cover, the las cannon chews through the enemy and objectives.

I once picked the laser cannon accidentally instead of the quasar, running the Plasma Punisher anyway and actually had a really good game. Totally agreed!
Also you can wear the + 2 grenades armor AND supply pack to have even more stun grenades and chuck them out to every bot you see like they're free samples
Its been more than three times now in a randoms quickplay match where someone has broken Microphone silence to openly express their suprise and praise for my use of the almighty Beam.
It has been deeply satisfying to hear every time.

It makes my Recoilless main teammate very happy when I run the Laser Pointer From Hell, both because I keep a lot of bullshit off his back, and he gets to give me his second ammo backpack so he doesn't have to keep dipping into cover when there's suddenly three Chargers trying to run us down, or we trigger a big bot drop at a bad time

I've been digging the Anti Material Rifle myself tbh, especially on those hot maps. thing is so satisfying against the bots
I enjoy it a lot too, but I’d def like it better if the clip size was larger and the recoil wasn’t enough to knock your arm off.

I find it's even more underrated against the bugs. It can outright kill anything below a bile titan fairly easily and is even good against said titans with the right combination of stratagem. Chargers can be killed by shooting them in the legs after they've been damaged and the armor doesn't even need to be stripped off. People right it off as a bot weapon but it's especially slept on for bugs
I wish there was some sort of animation that indicated you were actually doing damage with the laser beam weapons. I was using the Scythe against a Brood Commander and you have no way to tell you are doing any damage until it dies suddenly. Let me melt their legs off or something to show that it's working! Make the bots armor start glowing red as it absorbs the heat of the beam - while you were shooting the Factory Strider you just stare at it until it dies. It would be way cooler if the armor started melting.
I’ve been running a laser trooper load out against bugs for the past two weeks. The scythe, grenade pistol for bug holes, incendiary impact grenades, laser cannon, laser rover, orbital laser and 500kg for bile titans. It’s been suuuuper effective and I’ve even had one game where my entire squad copied my load out after seeing how well it performed in our first mission. Was a great time

Laser is highly slept on. Run it with the guard rover for maximum laser

Yeah I like running a laser primary, with laser cannon, guard rover with laser, and of course an orbital laser to round it all out. It’s lasers on lasers on lasers! I’ve been unstoppable lately.
I do worry that the game balancer is going to notice soon.. but for now I’m rolling with it. Against the bots at least.

Brother I love the laser cannon! I call it my multi tool. It takes out devastators, hulks, tanks, mines, laser cannons, mortar emplacements, basically anything and everything! Nobody ever seems to run it since its older brother, the Quasar made an appearance.
It's crazy to compare this gun to hmg I swear the balance team puts some extra powder to thier liber tea
I've really tried to use th HMG multiple times, it's just so crazy difficult to use right. Like i can headshot at 100+m with the Laser Cannon, but anything outside of like 20m i can barely hit with the HMG. Why on earth would I pick it? I DO NOT want to get that close to bots with my ballistic shield stowed away, that is suicidal.
They both seem to fill the same role, however the problem with the HMG is that you can’t actually reliably target weak points because the dev team is obsessed with giving weapons ultra realistic recoil. Which to me doesn’t make sense considering how arcady this game is. Helldivers 2 is not a milsim game. If the HMG actually had manageable recoil then I believe a lot less people would complain about its ammo capacity considering it’s supposed to be more of a single target precision weapon and less of a spray and pray weapon into a crowd of enemies weapon.

HMG kicks like a mule despite being a HEAVY MG. The entire point of those things were that when mounted, can sustain fire for a long time accurately/on-target and those mounts were by no means sturdy
Also not helped in that for some reason it only gets a red-dot (MGs are accurate beyond most rifle ranges) and that red dot is upside-down, weapon fires low, red dots in the top side of the glass.
I don’t even mind the ammo carried (big bullets, makes sone sense) but we really should have a gun that can be shot without trying to aim itself towards the nearest stellar object

@@carterwalters5915 best (imo) laser weapon from HD1. 1 handed and you can kill almost anything but a tank. So Op though so I doubt it would ever come to HD2. The dagger is I’m guessing the much much MUCH weaker side-arm version.

You inspired me to make a video for my non-golf channel (not finished editing), but I'll be asking if it's good without stun grenades. It's funny that you mention going first person while aiming on gunships, that's what I found worked for me during my testing lol.
Cool video, I think the laser weapons are in a good spot, where the Dagger, Sickle, and Scythe can exploit weakpoints, and the Laser Cannon has enough oomph to deal with the Hulks. I didn't know that the Laser Cannon can deal with the Mortars though......But I suppose it makes sense, since I was able to do that with the Autocannon as well. You've given me some new loadout ideas to try as I do like fighting bots.

I’ve been running laser cannon every round and it’s been fun dishing out free LASIK to everything around me. I used to run with the anti material rifle but I swear that thing misses constantly, and is pretty much useless if anything is up close, so the laser is an obvious choice for those quick kills.

GL needs some love, it’s stated like a primary (bit large magazine low reloads) plus the deflection/ricochet can end up Killing you in a way no other AoE weapon does.

I'll use LC all day. Peeking above the top of rocks seems to be the best use of cover, at least until the four patrols around you show up, and start firing at you from literally every direction.
another thing is that recoil control is really good for this, turns the lasers slight wiggle into dam near perfectly still
Back when the game was new I used to run Defender, Laser Cannon, and Ballistic Shield because I thought it was just super fun and very self-sufficient. Good for roaming and soloing, even though both the shield and laser cannon were worse back then. Now that they're both a good bit better, I'm so happy to see other people running the build I thought only I ever used.
All the constant beam laser weapons in general are underrated. Scythe and dagger are both pretty damn good especially for bots just deleting those devastators. Laser Cannon and Scythe actually have very similar damage, only the armor pen is really different.
Thanks for showing me how badass the laser cannon is. For bots, I’ve been running it with eat-its, precision strike, and emp mortar. I finally feel like I have enough firepower, barely. Enough boom to take out armor, enough aoe to deal with chaff.
To the point of the supply pack though, does the extra stuff automatically proc? Or can I access the backpack otherwise? I didn’t know I could resupply myself.
ive been an avid laser cannon supporter since it first got buffed, i remember making a post about how good it is and people telling me i was wrong then a couple weeks later i was seeing other people saying the same thing lmao

A note on the Grenade Launcher too. I usually manage to pull off carrying it easily by scavenging ammo. Dont have to firce engagements on all patrols and i make the most out of my shots usually.
Laser cannon + ballistic shield is one of my favorite loadouts vs automatons
I've been using the plasma punisher/laser cannon combo against automatons since last week, it works surprisingly well and it's fun to use. You can comfortably deal with every single type of enemy with it, and it brings lots of utility except destroying fabricators (second only to the autocannon)
Holy shit, the "shoop da whoop" meme, I haven't seen that in ages! I love the laser cannon, but the character flinch makes it tough sometimes against them communists bots.

Hey! Fun fact, without aiming the laser cannon, it's possible to shoot enemies around corners without revealing yourself in the slightest. This only works on right-hand corners, as it rests on your right shoulder. You can easily take out heavy devastators with the proper use of cover.
I like to use medium armor with the padded armor effect, with a supply pack and a scythe, and then conventional grenades and the grenade pistol. If i wanted to, though, i'm not forced to take any one grenade over the other, but i do know that stuns are recommended.
Every time I play automatons, my shield and the laser canon is a must, cripple hulks or destroy their arm weapons to focus on other enemies, I like it a lot
I really need to start using this on bots. Ive only ever used it against bugs because i like the combined up time between it and the sickle. As soon as one starts to overheat I can just switch to the other and keep blasting.
I can recommend the shield generator pack aswell as it protects you from being staggered for a few shots from all directions
Secret to it's weirdness is in it's stats.
It's basically Scythe damage (trash 350 dps) vs troopers and smaller bugs but it has 200 durability damage per second.
It's a hidden stat that tells you how effective something against "durable" parts.
And legs of bugs/bile spewer sacs are like 40%-70% durable.
Cannon turret is 100% durable
When other weapons will struggle - you will take these targets out like nothing (of course if you'll penetrate)
This "durability damage" also explains why Railgun is so bad at taking down those turrets, gunships etc. Railgun has 600 damage per shot, but durability damage of only 60.
Laser cannon will deal 200 of this durability damage per second.
Quasar will deal 650 per shot.
And railgun will only deal 60.
Railgun is different because when you full charge it, it has different damage and up to 7 or 8 pen. it does 120 heavy armor damage

i saw in an eravin video it does 120 dmg, this also makes sense because it takes 8 headshots to down a bile titan, so it maths

I liked pairing the laser cannon with the Eruptor back when the Eruptor was good. They complement each other very well.

past couple weeks i've seen more and more people run the LC, might have to give it another go.
It's been my go too. I feel so validated lol
With the Laser Cannon you always want to have cover to your LEFT when possible. Lure enemies clockwise around tall cover. Both you and most of the Bots are right handed. So while their shots are blocked by it, you can peek around and snipe their faces. This is particularly useful for Heavy Devs.
My go to support weapon even before the buff
I’m starting to really love the LC vs bots nowadays after being in heavy weapon hell for the past while. I always run the jump pack since I’m terribly cursed with ADHD and barely stay near teammates in most situations. Plus it’s my go-to backpack for any non-defensive missions.
the laser cannon is my main support weapon i run on automatons. if i dont take it, im just messing around w other builds, but i always go back to it when it's time to grind. it's great on bugs too. i actually first fell in love w it while fighting bugs. then took it over to bots to see how it held up, and it's pretty much been w me every time i face the bots now. such a great support weapon. as a bonus, it also has some of the best sfx in the game!

My laser buddy is my number one pick for support weapon for bots and on levels below 8 for bugs. Does really well at popping Bile Titan and Charger asses if you get good with it.
I also still recommend the post-nerf eruptor with the laser cannon, for having a long-range fab/bughole clear that isn't quite as aim-finnicky and ammo-scarse as the nade pistol. (and AoE on demand)
Laser Cannon is excellent. I ran it as a true primary when Eruptor was strong. Shield backpack allows me to tank shots long enough to fry targets head on.
I feel like the lazcannon gets outdone by the railgun and AMR when it comes to killing devastators, but makes up for it for a bunch of neat little utilities. It's one of the reason I love fighting bots: it feels like everything has a place.

I think another great backpack is the shield generator, because it prevents stagger while shooting, and gives you some more health that regenerates.
Good games the other day, I'm Chrisdriggle in-game. Hope I can play with y'all again, plus me and some other viewers started a party afterwards.
I tend to run the jump pack instead of the supply pack with the LC. Bring Dominator/Grenade Pistol or Eruptor/Senator for utility and burst damage on Devastator heads, then treat the LC as my primary. With light armor it gives you a ton of mobility to flank enemies and protect your team.
I run a full laser build with the scythe against the terminids and i use this support weapon for it.. its so good... they say the scythe doesnt have high damage but if you snipe them from far away you can drop any lower enemies just switch between the 2 amd you have infinite ammo
My current standard Bot loadout for objective missions is the Dominator, Senator, Stun Grenades, Energy Shield Backpack, and Laser Cannon. When running level 7-9 missions, I always need weapon that hit hard and can handle multiple types of enemies. I rare get clean shots at any one type at a distance anymore.
I've been using the LC a lot lately with the B Shield and I love it.
Love that support weapon only one I use.
I always run erupter and laser canon solo on lv 8 & 9 difficulty. This loadout really suits the sneaky playstyle. The erupter isn't that great when dealing with bots like the punisher plasma but it still can destroy bot factory. The laser canon just shred things that erupter can't finish and I get a backpack slot to use whatever I like (mostly shield generator for protection)

Gonna try this, I literally run ballistic backpack/pummeler or plasma punisher supply pack with the heavy MG so this is just a little different flavor
Also I always run heavy armor with engineer for more stuns
Running this build I'd recommend the grenade pistol for quickly clearing fabricators as the laser can't damage them.

On the Bot side, the LC is basically an AC without stagger. It kills nearly every Bot in the same amount of time. So you are essentially trading the ability to stagger for a backpack slot.
I’m generally an AMR guy, but have been occasionally using laser cannon vs bugs. I will try vs bots, plus I’ve been looking for a support weapon to pair with Diligence CS or Eruptor just to have options
I started running laser bc after awhile ac gets boring. Was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Even better not many ppl run it so my random squads have been really balanced
It’s a long range DOT sniper rifle.
If you free fire it and walk backwards without aiming it has an awesome pattern for crisscrossing bugs
You can kill chargers by shooting them in the joints with the laser cannon. Most enemies can be kill by aiming at alternate kill points with the laser cannon.
I love the laser cannon most of the time it works well vs all bots.
Laser cannon, jump pack, eagle airstrike, and rail cannon is my go to loadout for bots
I've been maining Lcanon for months - its even better against bugs. Running with sickle its 100% fire upkeep , eta/500kg and its GG
I'll never understand how people don't like this gun. Its been a real one for a long time now.
LC, Shield and Plas Pun is my most used combination for Bots. Second is AC+Diligence CS. Third is LC, Ballistic and Pummeler. I honestly think those are the three most well rounded combos in the game.

Laser for bots and flamethrower for bugs are my go to, unless I feel like sniping or using recoilless

The LC is absolute PEAK now that gunship patrols are a thing. I've seen the light. Utter beast. The AC can go cry in a corner. Frankly it's great on bugs too, as it kills chargers to the back and BT's to missing chunks.
I use this 90% of the time. Only time I don't use is the Helms Deep defense and the scientists evac.

Even before the quasar was nerfed i went back to my beloved laser cannon, i used it with sickle, now scythe or the the eruptor before the nerf. On hot planets i used the knight or the other SMG i forgot the name
I paired it with energyshield and often eat to be able to kill dropships, gunturrets and tanks from thr front. The laser cannon can kill these too minus the dropship ofc but its not able to penetrate if theyre facing you
Usually i go with maxed eagle airstrikes, and no other orbital/eagle. Gets me through ALL missions, even bugs are easy this way. Ill try ballistic shield / dagger next
Everything the lascannon can do, autocannon can do, and AC can also explode for AOE, stagger, and destroy fabricators, and basically be a sniper.
Because the laser comes from pretty far off on your characters right side, you can often kill Heavy Devs by peeking to the right out from cover and shooting them that way. They will aim for your center mass and hit the cover, which allows you to avoid being staggered.
I've been sleeping on this thing
