Hey just a tip for you. Just use a longer prusik loop as a step instead of your composite stick. Your setup and process is exactly the same. you are just using your prusik loop as a step instead of tying it to that stick. This is something I learned in fire school. You can climb a rope if you have a short prusik on your bridge and a long prusik as a step. You essentially worm crawl up a rope. This is dead silent since it’s only rope involved and nothing to bang around
@@derekcole6607 not a bad idea. They sell rope ladders on amazon fairly cheap. With the composite stick your able to use it as your platform to hunt from. Idk how will hunting from just a rope could be. Check out the DIY video I did on this rig. Since this video Iv added an aider to the bottom and makes the throw of the whole thing much more efficient.
You're in good shape (I'm not) and you climb well. But, if you want to make your set up even faster, quieter, easier, and safer. Use the S.M.A.R.T. One Stick (NO SLACK) Method with your diy Racoon Rig. It's absolutely diyable also. I created this technique out of necessity. Let me know if you try it. Thanks, and God Bless.
It's a cool idea but I definitely would still stick with my diy one stick because it's faster, easier, and quieter to climb with, and it's a more secure platform at hunting height. My entire one stick is less than 4lbs and was less than $150 so it's still very light. The video about it is on my channel
@@SESaddleHunters not at all this entire rig is 2.8lbs that includes the ropes. Adding a aider will make it just as easy to climb as a one stick. This rig is much more compact than a one stick. As far as being faster I can’t agree or disagree that’s all up to the user. It costs less than $25. I’ll take the other $125 and buy some other fun stuff lol
@@chuckparson6712 negative sir. It’s actually one of the easiest way to climb trees with limbs. I carry a 6’ section of amsteel as a tether with a carabiner that’s attached prusik knot. You quickly sling that around the trunk above the limb then your able to safely unhook from you main tether and move it around the limb. For the rig just take it off the tree and move above the limb
@@UncleDanBand64 hahaha funny you should ask. I just 💩out of it and had a doe come runnin through being chased; all while my cheeks were hangin out lol

@@kaptainhookoutdoors that's the beautiful thing about saddle hunting though, we can all do it a little differently
@@SESaddleHunters yes sir!! 100% agree there’s not one step up that is exactly like the another. Everyone likes different things and that’s ok 🤙🏽😎
Very cool, and it looks like yours is lighter
Thank you sir
How are getting back to the ground if you drop your climbing device while at hunting height. Seems like a cool method, but not very safe
@@mikegrogan3903 Its girth hitched around a tree the entire time making it virtually impossible to drop it.
@ you say that until it happens.
@it sounds like a box blind might be more your speed.
@ nah! No slack rope climbing either SRT or DSRT. I’m never dependent on my feet for safety and always have a rappel path to the ground.
I guess you can only hunt telephone poles with this type of rig, seems like it would be alot of trouble if there were limbs coming off the tree
