  • The TranSardinia was created in 2009, and it's safe to say it needs some improvement. The route is around 450km long, of which we covered 3/4th due to a broken derailleur. You can find our route, photos and story of each day over on Komoot: www.komoot.com/collection/137...

    you guys need to bring a cutting board. the sound of that knife on the Ti pan made my skin crawl

      @tristanbogaard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah… don’t think I’ll bring a plate or cutting board at all anymore. Knife in the hand has worked well for years, feels like the best option to me.

    Wow! Where to begin. Firstly the production value is fantastic; all of your videos are all beautifully shot and edited and this is no exception. Second is the food! - Italy has become my 'again' favourite country to eat in and Sam's cooking showcased that. Above all else this bike packing video highlights that simple really is beautiful - cycling through nature with friends enjoying the ride. Just perfect.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts and compliments! Really appreciate it. I hope you can have a similar gastronomical experience when you come to Italy, because it adds so much to the journey.

    Looks like such a fun trip - - beautiful scenery, great company, that's what cycling tours are all about. I like how you guys soak it all up and stop to enjoy food and coffee. Mechanical issues are part of the trip and always make for interesting stories later on :)

    I did a similar ride and started in Pittulongu then went to Cannigione then t did rides around that northeastern Sardinia portion and then did another loop ride from Cannigione to Maddalena and Caprera. After that I headed to Tempio Pausanias into the mountains then made my way to Castelsardo then to Sassari and finally to Laghero. So I guess I did a trans Sardinia ride

    When my wife and I did a longer trip and decided to do your kind of cooking, a couple years back. The first thing we bought was a BIG pan (With foldable handle) a big (thin) plastic chopping board and a thin bladed, long (but light) chefs knife. All this chopping with thick short knifes and cooking in small pots was not for us. :-)
    Very nice videos. Nice to be travelling with you guys!

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That must’ve resulted in some delicious recipes..! We’re happy using our plates as cutting boards, and the pans are actually pretty ok for two people! Excited to have you watching along for the next developments.

    Thanks, Tristan - beautiful as always - capturing the scenery and the way you take us right into your life on the road. I watch with a small dose of envy of stuff I can't do at this stage of life, and a large dose of peace & pleasure as I almost join you.
    Question: How would compare Corsica v Sardinia (apart from the weather :) ) for a mix of beaches (for Mrs R!) and day rides into the mountains?

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Dave. You should 100% go to Sardinia, as not only the weather, but the Italian culture, amount of beaches and general atmosphere is much more suitable for your personal desires as well as those of Mrs R! The train system on Sardinia is also a huge plus, for some extra exploration.

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Sebastian! If I understand your question correctly, you're referring to the little sticks on the Vargo? Those I made myself, they're just two spokes that I bent in the same way to hold the pots in place :)

    Hi Tristan!! thank for your nice videos! May I ask something technical? At the minute 22:31 you are rolling a bag, with a valve, which bag it is?? thank you a lot!

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Valerio! It’s a dry bag from Ortlieb, and the valve is a must on these bags. So easy to push the air out and store something compressed.

    I am looking to cycle a similar route as you next May and am wondering how you chose where to camp? From my understanding it is illegal to random-camp in Sardinia -- did you have any issues? Thank you so much for your advice!

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! It's illegal in so many places for good reason. We always feel like the exception to the rule and therefore wild camp carefully, out of view and not in the obvious spots. We pitch up late and pitch down early and don't leave anything behind. If you follow these steps and aren't cycling in high season, all should be fine.
