700's are a ticking time bomb 💣 th400 or 4l80e are the way to go especially when you start to make good power. I prefer th400 and gear vendors overdrive.
@@chicago_race_engines7538 I feel you. I have a th400 transmission with gear vendors overdrive setup in my '68 impala. It's mated to a 496 big block that dynoed at 565hp and 600tq. At times I beat the hell out it and I never worry about breaking it. 700's are nice transmissions with a great overdrive cruising gear, but they were never engineered to used in drag racing.

It’ll go even faster once you get a trans that’ll hold the power you’re making. I’d say that 2nd gear has been slipping a little that you don’t even realize. Can’t wait to see what she does with the 4L80.

Hi uncle bill have you ever thought of refreshing the dully engine and transmission?. Come to think about it it is cheaper that buying a new truck plus older cars are more reliable. I think Uncle Bob can get that done quickly with a stock engine and heads that needs a refreshed new cam and Cam bearing, engine bearing, high volume oil pump, refresh the transmission. You live in Ohio there snow and salt if you ask me I would not spend money on newer truck if you live in an environment like that. Also I would replace the manifold with headers nothing fancy and nice exhaust to keep the old girls she is being good to your family for years.
That would be phenomenal The fact that shes got over 365000 miles on her body definitely says she worth some extra TLC. Kinda like like Miss Vicky truck. And just think of all the joy that it would bring Uncle Bucko I'm sure he would share all of the excitement and joy that he would experience with everyone .Who knows maybe And show what preventive maintenance looks like😅

Actually since I am building a pretty quick daily out of an 87 Monte Carlo SS so I even learned something about the limits of the 700r and the next step is the 4L80e. I too will be doing an overdrive trans and Dakota Ditigal dash. A low mileage Malibu that runs 6s and can be driven anywhere, that’s pretty hard to beat! I like your style. Take care👍👍👍

Bill I am a little late to this congrats party but nonetheless here goes... You pulled off a well deserved Win for your efforts! All the while you were having a blast with family and friends all around, can't ask for any more than that. Near the end of the vid you struck a pleasant chord with me by simply mentioning the 365k miles-stone on the dually. The reason this little tidbit caught my attention is for the following reasons.. We all love to go watch and even more want to go racing yet our families come first in regards to the budget. With that said it is not hard to aquire ownership of an older chevrolet work mule truck that will keep on keeping on as long as the caretaker treats her properly and with respect. The cost differential is humongous. Sure brand new 110k one ton trucks from the big 3 have their place...and that place would be along the side of 25+ year old gassers pulling 15k or more reliably. Just because one can't afford a brand new tow rig don't mean one can't still have a (cracka'?) barrel of fun with whatever we can get our hands on. Yes it's late and I'm rambling but the point I'm trying to make is even if a poor couple uses a 1991 chevrolet 2500 to tow an open 18ft car trailer with their ratted out "pick a letter" body so called race car just to do bracket night with their 12 second ride, it is people like this out there enjoying life and racing life and draining their pockets of spare cash but still pay the bills at home. This comment went off the rails not long after I started typing, I'm just hoping the little cherry on top point I was trying to make came thru. Cheers, love, respect and all other positive adjectives out there to all y'all still reading this!
I'm not a chevy man, but on a ford c4 or c6 they both have an adjustment stud/nut that sticks through the case for the 2nd gear band. Where you can tighten it..

Like my late father said about fishing, " if you caught fish every time you went, they wouldn't call it fishing" same thing with racing, those other guys and gals work hard and want to win just as bad. Billy will get the drain backs figured out. I know guys that use a pump on both sides of the turbos, supply and return because gravity just not returning it fast enough to keep up with high volume/high pressure oil pump. Plan on supercharging it, but as you know factory roller blocks especially 2 bolt wont hold a lot without fear of "cap walk" so i am gonna keep it turned down until i get the all forged 350 Dart block built with CNC Street AFR 195 eliminators... Comp XFI CAM... Then 15psi+ all day long!

You pulled off a well deserved Win for your efforts! All the while you were having a blast with family and friends all around, can't ask for any more than that.
Near the end of the vid you struck a pleasant chord with me by simply mentioning the 365k miles-stone on the dually. The reason this little tidbit caught my attention is for the following reasons..
We all love to go watch and even more want to go racing yet our families come first in regards to the budget. With that said it is not hard to aquire ownership of an older chevrolet work mule truck that will keep on keeping on as long as the caretaker treats her properly and with respect. The cost differential is humongous.
Sure brand new 110k one ton trucks from the big 3 have their place...and that place would be along the side of 25+ year old gassers pulling 15k or more reliably.
Just because one can't afford a brand new tow rig don't mean one can't still have a (cracka'?) barrel of fun with whatever we can get our hands on.
Yes it's late and I'm rambling but the point I'm trying to make is even if a poor couple uses a 1991 chevrolet 2500 to tow an open 18ft car trailer with their ratted out "pick a letter" body so called race car just to do bracket night with their 12 second ride, it is people like this out there enjoying life and racing life and draining their pockets of spare cash but still pay the bills at home.

I'm not a chevy man, but on a ford c4 or c6 they both have an adjustment stud/nut that sticks through the case for the 2nd gear band. Where you can tighten it..

Glad you guys made it there and back, despite the difficulties going there. Congratulations on the win Bill. You guys always have fun. Like my late father said about fishing, " if you caught fish every time you went, they wouldn't call it fishing" same thing with racing, those other guys and gals work hard and want to win just as bad. Billy will get the drain backs figured out. I know guys that use a pump on both sides of the turbos, supply and return because gravity just not returning it fast enough to keep up with high volume/high pressure oil pump. The nova was flying for its first real time out with new motor. Go fast and be safe. God bless you and your family and friends.
