21:39 My engine runs smoother and has better throttle response when I add 0.1mm spark plug gap. not a big difference, but very noticeable on the road. Fuel efficiency is also slightly better.
I just replaced my spark plugs. The Bosch Platinum burned the electrode down to the porcelain. I replaced the plugs with Autolite Platinum and it made a huge difference in the way my 292 engine on my 1964 Ford Pickup F250. I have a number of modifications over the years. I replaced the differential from a 410 ratio to a 373 differential. The original 2 barrel was updated to a Holly 4 barrel. The points were replaced with an Igniter with a higher volt coil. I replaced the split rims with normal wheels and new Bridgestone tires from Costco. I replaced the crossover exhaust manifold with a set of headers and dual exhaust and the way that truck runs now is an incredible difference. It is like night and day.
Triming the strap on the ground electrode should not be trimmed away from the side of the center electrode. It should be flush with the edge of the center electrode. This will give you more flexibility for adjusting the gap. David Vizard also rounds off the end of the ground strap, not leaving it squared. This should be done on all spark plugs and not just ones with piston interference. He has shown pics of his modification in videos and in a couple of his books. A ground electrode can sorta hide the spark when it arcs. By trimming the ground strap back. it fully exposes the spark to the air/fuel mix in the combustion chamber. The spark jump from the hottest point on the electrode to the hottest point on the ground strap. Doing this will add a couple horsepower.
Dude.. get real. Every thread in the sparkplug and head has one start. One only. Look at them. It's not hard to figure out indexing. And it's not hard to start a thread in the same place without a CNC machine. I'd say you really mean the strap mayn't be welded on all the plugs in the same place in relation to the start of the thread
@lollipop84858 Do you have something to say about the video content? Or does your ignorance on the subject limit you to childish comments to strangers?
Help, I used octane booster and all of my plugs turned orange. Now the questions I have hoping you have answers, did I harm anything internally in the motor with using booster, maybe too much booster? Why did the plugs turn orange? Will it go away if I quit using booster? Will that crap burn off? Can you over use octane booster? Have I lost plug life due to the orange film?
You won’t hurt anything with too much boost. It’s the chemicals mixed with the boost liquid that changed the color. I can use Marvel Mystery Oil in my gas tank and the plugs turn a different color compared to not adding anything. It’s all in the chemistry.
@@jeffmccormick6382 why is he f’d? I have been using octanium at full strength exclusively. It definitely makes everything orange and I do not like that. I would rather not use octanium but no E85 in my state. Please share your experience. I’m considering buying race fuel to get away from it but it has not caused me any problems though. I probably have close 10k miles using it exclusively.
Thank you for the video. More examples of plugs such as the boiled porcelain would help a lot.
Wow! What a thorough and extremely informative video. Thank you!!
Very helpful! Thank you for taking the time to post this video.
Mike Swanberg your welcome
I've seen several good plug reading vids but this is the first time I've seen one that explains what's seen
with the Heat Range being too high 👍
A lot of them explain that. It's one of the whole ideas of reading plugs.maybe you didn't look hard enough
Nice, very usable and well composed info. Thank you!

Now that is a thorough explanation......Thank You...!!!

Is it okay to use a new plug just on one cylinder when getting baseline readings and tuning before cylinder matching?
Indexing plugs? The threads engage when they want. Seems non adjustable for the most part. Can anybody explain?

One degree in a small block was worth 60 hp?? Cmon dude... just silly.
He's probably better at engines than you. Without your permission.

Hey I'm curious to know how it turned out? I am pretty inexperienced but i would think it would burn off and be fine... I hope that's true!

Vp fuels octanium? 😂😂😂

Thank you great video
This would have been a better video if it was in higher resolution and showing the inspection tools in action.
Nhat Tran I know but that's all I could find that has a good explanation. I did not create the video.
thanks very much
excellent .. thanks
nice explained !!!
Great
