Catenary Wire - What Height Must it be Installed at?

In this short video we use BS7671 On-Site Guide to workout the minimum heights for catenary wires used to support cable above ground level between buildings. Using Appendix D table D2 in the On-Site Guide we can find the minimum distances in areas accessible and inaccessible to vehicles for these catenary wires. The video includes footage of catenary wires supporting cables to help you understand the requirements of BS7671.

I have always thought 3.5m is a strange height, especially if feeding a shed that needs to remain under 2.5m for permitted development.
Would this mean you would need to have a 3.5m high post right next to the shed to rig up the catenary support wire?
Also impractical for a bungalow to shed height one.

Don’t use this method then - submerge the cable underground

Same in states but we use feet...but most sparks would dig a trench and use conduit into a separate panel...codes are codes but not always safe.

I definitely know one of my uncles neighbours is MUCH lower than 3.5 metres, since I was able to put my arm in the air and touch it..
But that was about 2 decades ago, no idea what the rules were back then.

How can it attach to a shed when they need to be much less than 3.5m in height?
