Nice overview! I bought both mostly as emergency lights but I often use the smaller when I'm working in the garage and in the car interior. The taller one is our go-to when the power is out and before I get the generator up. Always remember too that if you're not buying from the Homedepot your warranty may be in question (at least that's the rumor).

    Great video..
I own 2 of the little P796 and some other lights and gadgets for power outage purposes.

I love these kinds of video where people are trying to show the difference in light output of different sources. Modern digital cameras (Including camera phones) have had millions of dollars spent in R+D to make them automatically adjust to whatever level of light's available. So in 99% of these comparable tests you just get to see the light dispersion rather than overall brightness and usability.
Without going into the cameras settings and knowing what you're doing when locking multiple options, there's not a lot else you can do to get around it either. Most digital cameras will choose the brightest spot in frame and adjust everything around that, so you end up with flood lights looking amazing, and spot light looking like the one spot they shine on is only as bright as the whole area the flood illuminated, even though the flood was only just kicking out enough light to safely move about by, and the spot was almost burning the paint off the wall it was pointed at. :D
That said, not a bad review.

I just ordered the taller one because it has the USB port. I would have gotten the brighter one had it had the usb. I was actually more interested in the usb but the light came with it.

I have the taller lantern light an i have noticed if its hanging head level or at about 6 feet up or so its perfect for lighting up a room. With enough light reaching the ceiling at that height an plenty of light below. I’ve never used the smaller light that you was using but i feel it it had a magnetic base or a way to hang it from a wall or ceiling that it would be the win win of the two. But either one in a power outage situation is gonna be better than no light at all. Also does the smaller one have a usb power out charger like the bigger one? And is the price the same? Thanks and great review.
